QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) Was Griffey part of the mass celebration at home plate? I couldn't see him. he stayed out of the jumping pile.. but was right there high fiving everyone afterwards... we can't risk him getting injured in that mobbing

Take a chance on Scott Eyre?
Would much rather give Poreda his first look at the bigs rather than give Eyre a chance to get knocked around again.

Another Crede thread...
QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 11:35 AM) Eh, Idk .. Sanchez has not really looked good since his last win which was at the end of June. KW would not give up Fields+ for Sanchez Not to mention the Giants will likely overpay for Crede this offseason. I would be okay with Casey Blake for a year if it means bringing back another starter for Fields. However, Im sure KW's first 3rb base option will to be attempting to aqcuire Figgins once again. A lot will depend on if Konerko can increase his market value these next 2 months.

How About a Garcia Comeback?
I meant to say he was never really a power pitcher for us. Through in the early 90's, used a lot offspead pitches and so on. But yes you were right Freddy was a power pitcher back with Seattle.

How About a Garcia Comeback?
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 01:40 AM) I'm just using ERA+...his was 105 and his ERA on the season was in the 4.5s. He was a pretty bad pitcher in 3 months of the year with an ERA over 5 in those months. He was pretty much hit or miss all season long but won 17 games thanks to a great offense, the ability to work deep into games, and a fantastic September. ERA in the 5's would be better than what we've seen lately... But in all seriousness, Freddy has never been a power pitcher, he has always been finess, if he can spot his pitches he can be successful once again in this league. If he still has that nasty curve, i think he'll be okay.

Richard optioned to Charlotte
QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 07:23 AM) Why would you want to send some players down but keep Wasserman up. He has done nothing but stink up the joint this season, might as well have Loaiza rather than him... atleast he could stink it up multiple innings at a time. I guess Carraso has been pitching alittle better than Wasserman... both are not impressive.

Richard optioned to Charlotte
I actually brought this up a couple weeks ago when our bullpen starting turning for the worse. Most teams that make it far usually have that suprise impact player from the minors.. i think that guy just may be Poreda. I want to see this on August 15th: Jenks, Dotel, Linebrink, Poreda, Thorton, Wasserman. Send Carrasco and Logan down! If Linebrink comes back strong and Poreda contributes than we are in great shape heading into the stretch!

8/5 Sox v Tigers: 7:11 CST, CSN
I guess to be possitive we went 4-6 on a tough road trip. We all wanted 6-4. So thats only a 2 game difference. We can make that up easily on this homestand where the Sox are a 3rd best in the AL at 35-16. 2 of 3 vs Detroit, 2 of 4 vs Boston and 3 of 3 vs KC shouldn't be out of the question! 7 out of 10 would be SUPER! If our starters can go 7 strong consistantly on this homestand we will be in great shape! BTW this is my 2005 post... i love that number!
-
How About a Garcia Comeback?
As long as his velocity is up i would be okay with giving him a shot. Hell we have guys like Carassco and Wasserman up, we gave Loaiza a shot. Why would it hurt to bring in a guy who is a proven big game winner?

Your second place Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 09:48 PM) Poreda had a great start today...it will be interesting to see if he gets called up. I hate to bring him up this early, but he's our next best option. We need bullpen help bad!

Your second place Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 07:51 PM) We need Crede, Contreras, and Linebrink back. A lineup simular to this would be awesome, but most of all, the bullpen needs to pitch like they were when Joe Morgan said they might be the best bullpen ever. I still say he's the jinx. Cabrera Pierzynski Quinten Dye Thome Griffey Konerko Crede Ramirez Once linebrink went down, all hell broke lose with the other guys. He is that damn important to our pen. As far as when Crede comes back.. Well assuming he even does, there is no way Ozzie hits Griffey and Thome back to back. We are going to most likely see this the most the remainder of the year: Cabrera AJ Quentin Dye Thome Ramirez Griffey Swisher Uribe/Crede

Josh Fields
If KW could have got Street for Fields and Poreda i garuntee you he makes the deal, but according to Cowley, the A's asked for Danks or Floyd to go along with Fields and Poreda. The asking price for guys like Fuentes and Street were beyond crazy. So i dont blame KW on this one.

Your second place Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) Crede isn't playing again today, and Contreras was clocked at 90 mph in the first inning. I honestly have doubts about all 3 of our guys coming off the DL to help again this year. I think Contreras will come back and help actually. However, im very un-sure about Linebrink and Crede. I think the Crede absence is the least of our worries, esspecially with the way Uribe has been handling 3B. However, this team isn't the same w/o Linebrink or Contreras. I mean even if Contreras was giving up 4-5 runs in 6 innings, thats much better than we we've been giving up. And Linebrink being out of his 8th inning role has forced Thorton to go in and be the 7th inning stopper and he just isn't capable of that. He is simply a 1-2 out pitcher. Logan-sucks! Wasserman- eh he can be our mop up guy, Carrasco i guess is a decent long reliever, and thats what we have now. Whats the word on the minors... any successful relievers down there? Is it possible Poreda can prematurly pitch this year in the bigs?

schedule
I think our offense will be solid on this homestand. But damn has our pitching been HORRIBLE! If they continue to pitch this way, we may be 4-5 games back by the end of this homestand.

8/2 Sox-Royals on FOX Saturday Game - 2:50 CT
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 2, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) I liked have Junior's bat in the bottom 3 of the line up. i like Junior's bat anywhere in our lineup Its good to see Uribe back in the lineup with his solid defense at 3rd.

You're Kenny Williams
Trade PK for Figgins (Hopefully Texiera signs elswhere while im assuming Crede leaves via free agency) Give Thome that option to let him finish his career a White Sox as our DH. (wow how my mind has changed about him) Buyout Griffeys option and sign him to a 3 year deal. He can play CF one more year and he can replace Thome after the 2009 season as our DH. Bring up Fields finally! Figgins 2b Pierzynski C Quentin LF Dye RF Thome DH Ramirez SS Griffey CF Swisher 1b Fields 3b

8-1-8 White Sox at Kansas City Royals 7:05 pm first pitch
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) haha that would be something. I just hope Javy can keep them at 4. He has been pretty shaky lately. KGJ will go 2-3 with a walk and 2 RBIs. BTW it was pretty classy for Swish to give up his number to Griffey. This is by far the most excited i have been before a game since opening day! Do we still need better relief pitching- yes. Do we need to play better defense -yes. But i never thought i'd see the day Ken Griffey would wear a Sox uniform. White Sox baseball, expect the un-expected! Lets start a winning streak! DAMN IM GOOD!!! hahaha

8-1-8 White Sox at Kansas City Royals 7:05 pm first pitch
QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 02:48 PM) Oops. yes. Who is the most likely to be in a Sox uniform opening day 2009 Griffey, Crede, Anderson, or none of the before? Maybe Griffey as the DH? Who knows if KW will take Thome's option and Pauly may be traded west this winter.

Twins Love Needs To End
That was a pathetic loss that shouldnt have been. We now blow two games where we have a 4 run lead. No lead is safe with the way our pen and defense have been playing. Only .5 games up now. 3-4 on this road trip. Hopefully we go 5-5.

Griffey Poll
Griff has been hitting the ball lately.... look at his last month and a half.... his average is on the rise. Could this be another Bo Jackson type move? It helped in '93

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
I know we haven't got better defensively, or improved our pitching but DAMN do we have a butt load of power lol. Wow!
-
Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
Did this really happen? Wow. Im happy, worried and confused on how this is going to work? Dye and Quentin better not get days off the way there hitting and Griffey in CF scares me. He'll be a hell of a DH and maybe he will be next year, but Griffey a pinch hitter? Is there anyway he plays 1b? Constant days off for Pauly, Swish? Is there another deal in the works? As of now im guessing we'll see this: Cabrera SS Pierzynski C Quentin LF Dye RF Thome DH Swisher/Konerko 1b Griffey/ Swisher CF Crede/Fields 3b Ramirez 2b

Sox most aggressive team seeking help
why would the A's want Cabrera? He's going to be an un-restricted FA and the A's are waaay out of the playoff hunt. Doesnt make sense to me unless there is a 3 team deal in the works....
