I guess we do have quite a few outfielders. So Timo may be gone. I may be way off but it seems like Perez was in the $1.3M range.
-
What about Timo? Isn't he still under contract?
-
I prefer Perez because he's left handed. I also heard many times last year Lowe was a "headcase". He seems to be very sensitve. I'd rather not have to deal with that.

I think this has been the biggest problem with the Sox since 2000. We've had some great talent but always see to fold when it's time to step up to the plate. If trading Carlos brings has brought us three hard working team players, we are much better off. I didn't dislike Carlos, but he did frustrate me at times. Good luck to him in Milwuakee.

Ah. Missed your point.

Steve Stone pitched for both the Sox and Cubs. I believe Don Kessinger played for both.
-
You may be exactly right. Do you think even if doesn't become a good/great base stealer, but can get on base at a decent rate, he can be a solid ballplayer? His defense is very good and he has the speed to score from first.

Well in that case, I think Posednik could be a help to Harris. Willies' problem seems to be with his confidence. As stated earlier, he's got the tools. It would be great if Raines and Spod could help in that department.
-
I tend to think Posednik's numbers will fall somewhere between his first two seasons. Which would be about a .275 BA. This isn't great but may do the job. If the statements that he got a little homer happy and the "sophmore slump" theory are true, we should get a better performance. I think moving from Miller Park to the Cell will also help. We'll just have to wait and see. I agree with the thought that we won nothing as a power team and changes needed to be made. Those changes definitely bring uncertainty, but all changes do. Gotta break some eggs to make an omelet.

I'd be willing to take him back also. I wondered why he would be unprotected. Sounds like possible arm problems.

I just saw on MLB.com that Royce Ring is available in the Rule 5 draft. Kind of interesting for the former No 1 draft choice.
-
That makes more sense. Thanks

I seem to remember a report that Halladay announced his retirement after being hurt last year (done for the season?). It sticks out because it was so surprisng. Does anyone else recall this?
-
Cool story. Welcome.

I was thinking about this some. I don't which happened first, Dye's signing and comments about keeping his word or Maggs comments about his treament by the Sox. But could the Maggs and Boras statements be a reaction to the Dye signing? Maggs with some hurt feelings and Boras trying to make his client look better? Maggs has been getting some bad press with Sox fans and Dye's comments didn't help.
-
It seemed to me as the season went on he started getting into the habit of swinging for the fences too much. This may be because of the power loss Frank and Maggs. But I saw him take a lot of big swings when a base hit would've done the job. I'd still rather trade Konerko.

Never been a great speller. :rolly

In the article Scott Weil says Maggs asked him to keep it quite, so he didn't tell anyone about it. Sounds like he (Weil) was the only one who knew.

I'd love Renteria, especially if he can/will lead off and Varitek. Realistically I'd be happy with Palanco, Wilson Alvarez and maybe Jeff Nelson. Looking over the free agent list, I wonder if Rusty Greer has anything left. He used to whip up on us everytime we played Texas. I also haven't heard a thing about Jeff Kent. What kind of money is he looking for?
-
If FCI includes 4 tickets and you multiply this by total attendance ( which I assume 1,930, 537 is) your total money would be about 4 higher than it actually is. I guess 4 times is a little high, but I would say off the top of my head, at least twice as high.
-
I'm not sure I understand your numbers. Are you saying that on average a fans spends $160.23 each game they attend? If so that appears to be a gross amount and doesn't take into account any expenses other than salary.
-
I'm happy with this signning also. I think it's solid move, not a great one, but solid. A few more moves like this and we should be in good shape heading into the season.
-
How 'bout Cory Snyder! I guess that track record is worse than I remember. :rolly
-
Weren't these the same concerns when we signed Ellis Burks and then a year later, Darren Jackson? Those two turned out pretty good for us. Dye and/or Gibbons might do the same. Also at that time I seem to recall alot of talk about how good Herm Schnieder and his staff were at keeping these guys on the field.

gotta agree. real fine post.
