QUOTE(fathom @ May 18, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) Brought in MacDougal to face a switch-hitter. Coming into today, MacDougal was allowing lefty hitters to hit him at a .417 clip. If you're going to bring him in, then let him face Theriot. I had no problem with bringing in Hall to face Pagan, your setup man should be able to get a AAAA OF out... and Mac looked really good yesterday too. The problem was why was he out there in the 8th, which was just completely dumb. But regardless because of our anemic offense didnt matter if we were down 1 run or 3.

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 18, 2007 -> 12:45 PM) I'm not a big fan of the list. To me, it seems like you guys rushed it to get it out ASAP... The list has been done for awhile, and dont call them out saying they did a bad job because they tried to rush it.... they took the time to do it when they didnt need too. You can say you dont like it but dont call them out.

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 18, 2007 -> 12:30 PM) Carter has been off the charts lately. Him and that Schurn guy need to get bumped up to the weak hitting Birmingham Barons... Well Carter definitely needs to go to High A first, last season he struggled mightily when in Kanny so dont think we should go that fast to him. As far as Schurn goes he sucked in AA last year so dont care really, if there is room for him I dont see why not but not 2 interested in him at this point.

oh well, I was pissed that night but I guess atleast this team didn't quit after falling down 3-0. Next year I want finals or bust though. Hopefully Thabo/Tyrus improve greatly this off-season and become bigger contributers next year and hopefully we can bring PJ back. -
QUOTE(Damen @ May 18, 2007 -> 11:24 AM) Well, I'm sure you might be able to walk without drooling, but you really think the White Sox, as in the team, not the fans, biggest rival is the Cubs? Im sure the guys on the team consider this season the Tribe/Tigers/Twins all our biggest rivals since all of them are contenders to win the division. But if it wanted the teams opinion the poll would be taken by the team, and obviously its not.

I actually enjoy the North show every so often, although at times I have to turn it off because North can get really annoying. I think im going to save that radio conversation for future good times.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 18, 2007 -> 11:08 AM) You are probably right. In fact, it's only a matter of time unless Ozzie's smarter than I think is he is. I dont think so. He was a past player which helps in the respect factor and as long as we have good veterans on the team there will be no problem. I dont see Konerko/Buehrle/Garland/Thome etc. shutting him out anytime soon and if he has those guys respect nobody else in the clubhouse is going to mess with him. I thought Mike North was losing his radio spot soon anyways, so in the longrun no harm done.

We dont have a real rival, it seems like we are the main rival of the Tigers/Twins/Indians but for us we are kind of split among them. Also the Cubs series are always very fun and emotional to play and it gives bragging rights of the city kind of, so I dont mind it.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 17, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) *Sighs* Money doesn't make you just "play through" a back injury. Those are really painful. It may not have looked like it, but I'm sure he was playing as hard as he could, just not the same when you aren't healthy. Guys have played through worse all the time, hell didnt MJ drop 40 or something when he had the flu. -

Ben Wallace better be the MVP of the playoffs next year.... he had an overall dissapointing season and the reasoning the whole time is he was saving himself for the playoffs. Well last I checked we were in the playoffs and he is total garbage these last 2 games. I dont care if his back is hurting, 16 million dollars say stfu and play through it and play good. -

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ May 17, 2007 -> 07:56 AM) Guillens lineup changes in third games of series have often thrown away possible sweeps. 2 of 3 is nice, especially against good teams. But the throw away games add up to problems in September. How does that make sense? Against the Twins and Angels we lost the first games. And assuming we beat the yanks this series it will be the 2nd game of a double header we lost. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 17, 2007 -> 12:21 AM) Well the NBA appears ready to get their way, a Spurs win, so congrats to you guys for deciding who wins this series . Suns just ran out of gas down the stretch with that 6 man rotation. NBA had nothing to do with it, even if you disagree with the rule they made the right call. And anyways I bet the Suns with their high scoring offense makes for higher ratings than the Spurs slow boring offense/defense so why would they fix it their way. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 16, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) I think even Sweeney's biggest supporters right now would say his strength is the biggest thing he needs to improve. Maybe he does, but the bat isnt shattering because of lack of strength. -
Would anyone start Contreras over Danks Sunday?

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 16, 2007 -> 08:10 PM) Playoffs ? PLAYOFFS ? ! I'm not neccessarily talking about the playoffs. I just know it was the last month or 2 of the season that the young Tiger starters faltered because they had never pitched as many innings in a season before and it took its toll. Seemed like the only rookie, Verlander, did fine throughout the season to me. Besides the games he faced the whitesox -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 16, 2007 -> 08:06 PM) Lack of bat speed can easily cause you to not get the sweet part of the bat on the ball, resulting in a broken bat. Sweeney seems to have plenty of bat speed, the problem is he is getting busted on the inside pitches, his strength is fine. -

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 16, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) There was talk yesterday about starting Masset. A reason not mentioned for NOT starting Danks would probably be the amount of innings he has pitched in a year while in in the minors . I don't know his innings pitched totals but some believe the young Tigers pitchers petered out at the end of the year because they had never thrown as many innings as they had in a season before. Assuming we get to the playoffs there is a strong possibility that Danks doesnt even start. We have 4 veteran starters on our staff 3 of which have won a WS with us. Im assuming Danks plays the role of El Duque. -

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 16, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) You know, I don't see Carter ever being a great everyday player, but I think he has the potential to be a great bench/role player. that is way to premature to make that statement. If he puts up the stats he is doing now in high A and double A I dont know how you could say that. So until he shows he cant hit at a higher lvl like he is now no reason to think that.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 16, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) I am certain there are multiple business models. My mother works taking gas orders at a distributor. Her customers do own the gas. They distribute for several of the major companies. I also was friends with two cousins who owned a chain of C-stores here. They also said they make their money off the stuff in the stores. Very little of the profit was made at the pump. They were a company store and sold Diamond Shamrock branded gasoline. I think you are confusing company owned stores with independent and franchise operations. I found a link to a Chicago area Wholesaler of gas. No im not confused, my dad owns a gas station and my cousin owns an gas distribution company. And before that he owned a bunch of gas stations. There might be some cases where it differs, but for the most part the owner of the gas station does not own the gas. And almost all their profits come from the goods they sell in the stores.

QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ May 16, 2007 -> 07:14 PM) Gotta give Danks the ball. He is 22!!! Why is Ozzie worried about overworking our youngest pitcher!!!!! Not 2 mention for the most part he wasnt put in stressful situations and threw only 88 pitches. -

Mussina just had his number. He noticed that Sweeney made some good hacks at his outside pitches so ate him up inside. I think Sweeney gets a couple of hits vs Wang. -
The owner of the gas stations do not own the gas. Not many people seem to understand that....They get their cut of like i said 12-15 cents sometimes higher/lower per gallon and make most of their money from the store.
