Yes we need a fifth starter. But not someone like Ponson. We just need an inning eater like Jarvis that will come very cheap. Our starting four guys are rock solid, and we wont pitch the fifth guy in the playoffs. Theres absolutely no need to give up good prospects for a guy that will pitch 5 or so more games.

Thanx for that solid analysis Skipper. I live in SoCal too and follow the Angels, Scot is definately the weakest link in their great bullpen. And I have watched him let inherited runners score. The thing is, we practically gave up nothing for him and I think Schoeni is a better pitcher than Glover. He will become a lefty specialist/long reliever in the pen. He wont be a big difference maker, but I think it was a solid addition by KW.

I thikn Ponson is a very good pitcher and would be an awesome addition, because the Sox could sign him and keep him here long term. There is simply no place for Ponson on the Sox. If he comes, he'll be a number 3 or 4 guy and we'd have to give up a s***load of talent for him. Our rotation is stacked with Loaiza, Buehrle, Colon, Garland all ready to go in the playoffs. Ponson is simply too good to be a number 4 guy on a staff.

Now that Williamson is gone, I wouldnt trade him straightup for Boone.

According to Cashman, they got rid of Mondesi for the sole fact that he left the ballpark in the 6th inning at the Sunday Red Sox game after he was pinch-hit for. They say hes done this several times in his career and doesnt have the team attitude. When asked whether Mondesi would still be in a Yanks uniform if this incident has not happened, Cashman said "yes".

Kris is far from forgotten to me. Still my "favorite prospect" in the profile.

Right now, I wouldnt even take Ponson or Vazquez. They're the aces of their teams and would take top prospects to get them. I'd be more than happy with someone like Suppan. And I'm even reluctant on that one if we have to give up a guy like Pacheco or Reed. I mean, we're talking about a fifth starter here, no need to deprive the system any further.

I just heard some interesting stuff about the Mondesi trade. Cashman said that Mondesi left the Sunday Yanks-BoSox game in about the 6th inning after he was pinch-hit for. He just decided to pack up and go home all by himself and flew to Anaheim alone. Cashman said Mondesi has had alot of incidents like this and this was the lone reason that he got rid of him.
