QUOTE (almagest @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) If we offer him arbitration, and he signs elsewhere, we should get 1 sandwich pick (between 1st and 2nd rounds) due to Griffey's status as a type-B free agent. Can the Sox do that if they decline his option?

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) please dont, we better be getting like 3 players back with him and 1 of them better be better then Owings Owings is going to AAA for a reason, Dbacks should just tell him to become a 1B Owings would hit better than Paulie

i'm unorthodox...I'd go wtih Contreras 1st(granted he's currently the worst probably of the 5) then Danks(Jose and Danks if the Sox had both games at home 1st..)...with Buerhle and Vazquez pitching on the road but i'd switch it if it was opposite...having Buerhle and Vazquez pitch the road games. Floyd and Danks are obviously the best but do you throw them in the fire? I wouldn't be against it..but who knows. It'll be nice to think about when the Sox clinch : )

If you could improve this team, how would you do it?

QUOTE (Maxwell @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 05:58 PM) I ask because I am very impressed with this team. I was looking at the white sox home page and agreeing with the article about williams not desiring a move. Its easy to say you could improve it but think about the cost please while doing so. Its hard to find upgrades at a cheap cost, so they better be very substantial. The bullpen & starting pitching seem solid to me. Even our outfield is crowded with talent. Who would you bench and give up to get a superior talent in place of? Not that I'm suggesting a trade but if I was the g.m of this team on a video game I'd prefer Chone Figgins to Crede.. This team is solid other than the fact that they are painfully slow. -
Anyone know the lineup against the Rox today?

QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) id like to see thome play He should since he had the day-off yesterday. I'm cofident with Thome though...more worried about our leadoff guy. I don't want any nagging injuries bothering him when the season starts...but I heard in a minor league game monday he hit a homerun and stole a base so...good news so far. -
Just curious to know who's playing? I'd like to see Pods out there today
-
Bobby Howry for Eric Gagne.

Nelson signed with the Blue Jays...I saw him play left field the other day in a spring training game. I remember him getting a bunt hit. and he also seemed like a hell of a nice guy. promising a kid he'd sign after the game ended and sure enough..he was over there signing at the end.

Do fans that buy one of the 9 or 15 game plans get priority after the full season ticket holders for playoff games? i'm optimistic : ) and do you thinkt he upperbox tickets for either one of those plans is worth it? I've never been up there.
-
I'm gonna have to say...Baines getting the game winning hit and the Sox getting Crawford is probably more likely than Harris hitting a grand slam.
-
thanks for the reply. Yeah..I may just have to call and see. I really couldn't imagine they'd give me a problem though if I walked up to the boxoffice a few hours before game-time and wanted to do that.

"Borchard gets a hit, Sox split series"
-
what's that now? 2 million dollars for each win? I'm glad now the sox didn't sign him
-
I'd sign him to a minor league deal and then depending on how well he does in triple-a give him a september call-up. I doubt he'd accept that but he's what..6 homeruns away? You'd think he'd do almost anything to get to 500 and possibly get a shot at the hall-of-fame. 500 is huge for him. If he gets it then hall-of-fame is a good possibility. 499 homeruns=no shot
-
Do the Sox allow upgrading of tickets? like..Ticket A is a 10 dollar seat...could I exchange it for a Ticket B- 20 dollar seat and pay the 10 dollar difference?
-
He's about at the same level Harold Baines was at his last year with the Sox. I've seen him play in a few games for Tampa this year....his bat speed is extremely slow.
-
I personally would love to have Everett back. I think I might be in the minority reading from some of the other posts...but he'd be a good left-handed DH with power for us. He did very well for us last season, and was our ONLY hitter to really put it to the Twins last year. He's cheap, intensified, goaled for winning and a good hitter. as long as the asking price is low....I say bring him on board.
-
If we have to give up Garland..I say forget it. Right now I wouldn't even really want to give up Rowand..he's been great but to get someone like Randy Johnson you almost have to do it. no Garland though. We've been waiting for him to breakthrough not to just trade him off when he's starting to become the pitcher people have been waiting for.

There's no way Boras would bother representing Joe soft-hitting can't keep my head on the ball Crede.
-
yeah I keep hearing both. I'm unsure if that's on purpose or not
-
keep us updated about what you think about them. I'm watching via mlb.com/tv today so I can't find out myself
-
I believe that's the Sox alternate tv announcers...remember when they were holding those auditions looking for new people to announce the game on the SAP thing? ..That's what that is.

After the motorbike incident. His arm is still good but atleast to me it doesn't seem as cannon-like as it was a few years ago.
