  1. Kevin Millar turned into a nice player after being a 1st year 27 year old. Valdez could've just been logjammed or whatever..I don't know. I just know his stats look good, Guillen is high on him and I seriously doubt Guillen would tell Kenny to bring someone in that he doesn't think he can do something with.
  2. For his first year in Triple-A his stats look like he's been there for awhile. 26 years old is NOT old. He has better tools thatn Dransfelt, Guillen had some high praises for him, he had no shot at playing with Alex Gonzalez and Castillo for the world champion Marlins although he almost made the team out of spring training. He was the final roster cut of the team I believe. The only thing people are looking at is his age. Who cares? People put way too much stock into the age of a player. damn..if he was 2 years younger we'd have one hell of a player. This guy won't be a starter for us but you never know, he could be a damn good man off the bench who could come in to run, bunt, field, whatever. We'll see him in Chicago this year, I'm sure of it.
  3. What's the best exercise/drill for increasing arm strength? How'd you feel throwing in the bullpen at U.S Celluar Field? Did Don Cooper offer any tips for you during your throwing session?
  4. 3 runs in 5 innings=good 4 runs in 6 innings= good enough. If he hits his spots with his fastball and doesn't try to add a super onto his curveball and throws it for strikes I think he'll do well and everyone will be pleasently surprised.
  5. Sweeney has done well for being the youngest player in high-A ball. Brian Anderson is what..22? when Sweeney is 22 he'll be in Charlotte or Chicago.
  6. Yeah that hit was at Wrigley. Probably the reason a lot of people think he's the best hitting pitcher ever. but last night...even Hawk and DJ were laughing about how horrendous his approach was at the plate.
  7. Buerhle looked pathetic swinging the bat
  8. Unless it's RJ or Jason Shmidt, Reed needs to stay. I'd trade Borchard and Rauch for Garcia and even that I think is really too much.
  9. nice seeing Lucy signing. Now the Sox just need to sign Fields and Whisler.
  10. I think Brooks is doing a fine job. I like the idea of the mascot, I like the dedication who's putting into making a game a total entertainment event for the family and I liked how he let just about any kid that wanted to run the bases run them last sunday. Although I think you do have a point about the introductions. I think they should all just run out together, but hey, if the players and noone else has a problem with it, then it's fine by me. You should send him an e-mail with the problems you have though I think. I'm sure he'd be interested in hearing the views of all fans on what's happened so far. but I don't think you can deny that Gallas
  11. Ramon Ortiz is not the answer. but I'd do the trade mostly because Uribe is our future SS and I want to see Gload playing everyday until Maggs gets back.
  12. Boras is Beltran's agent. Magglio would come cheaper than Beltran...but I think if we had both Beltran and Maggs and offered them both arbitration(noway Beltran would take it, and it'd be good if Maggs took it) we'd get most likely the Yankees and Red Sox 1st round picks. The Yankees will probably sign Beltran...and Maggs in Boston could happen. I would not give up the farm for rent-a-Beltran. I'm content with the team we have now offensively....we just need to find another pitcher and maybe another relief arm to replace Koch.
  13. I went to the game in Tampa where Abbott pitched a clinic against the Sox. He didn't pitch bad the other night against the Twins...bad defense and some iffy-calls didn't help his cause. I've also seen him pitch a good game against the Yankees this year. He throws strikes and can give you some innings. I think the White Sox should most deffinitly take a look at him.
  14. I have a baseball card of Scott Christman..Sox 1st round pick in 92. I don't think he made it above double-a if that? Did he get hurt or just stink? same with Eddie Pearson....anyone know anything about him?
  15. I guy who throws 95 in the outfield sounds like he belongs on the mound.
  16. thanks for the welcome, I'm looking forward to your post as I liked the 1st round preview and I agree..if Symanski is avail. the sox should get him. I heard he hit about a 460 foot bomb off Verlander earlier this year...5 tools, sounds good to me. Sox can afford to get a position player early and then stock up on pitching afterwards with their other picks. and...oh..I wish the Sox had Shields to plug into the rotation....but yes..the NCAA and high school baseball should have a maximum pitch count. I know this wouldn't happen but a lot of coaches are more worried about winning their games rather than their senior ace hurler's career in pro-ball.
  17. That's amateur coaches for you. His stats are excellent, 86 mph fastball is decent for a high-school kid and has room for improvement as he continues to grow, already good curve and good control. There's deffinitly an overused concern but I wouldn't mind seeing the Sox take a chance on this kid, put him in the instructional league, teach him a change-up.
  18. I just saw this...maybe a top 10(rounds) pick? http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/leagu...527krecord.html
  19. A college player striking out 1/4 of the time scares me. I'd rather the Sox draft FSU shortstop Stephen Drew.
