  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) Ape in heels wasn't intended to be racist. Those that know her know she's not a racist. http://www.9news.com.au/world/2016/11/15/1...-sparks-outrage What I meant to say was Grape in Meals. I'm tired of Waldorf Salads.
  2. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) Except for the bit about what the rest of the world thinks (1. who cares? 2. pot meet kettle) I agree with everything you say. This isn't the first time we've elected a bad President. And it won't be the last. Because, like it or not, we are citizens of the Earth more than ever, Jenks. We can get to the other side of the world in less than a day. We can connect with people on the other side of the world instantly. We buy and sell goods around the world. If they lose trust, that's a problem. Did you see that France might charge a carbon tax on imports if Trump pulls out of the Paris Agreement? That's a problem. And that's why it matters.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 09:03 AM) He's expected to split time on weekends in NJ, Trump Tower/NYC and Mar A Lago in FL. Oooohhhh...is that because nothing happens on the weekends? /green
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) It's really scary to think we elected a ruthless businessman/reality TV star president. The minute I get real worried I think about Reagan? Are there any similarities to calm us? Reagan was an actor, a real live actor. And he was president. Plus, can't we take solace in the fact presidents allegedly don't do much anymore? I guess if he copies the Kansas economic plan it could cause the great depression II, but what are the odds of that? I heard wall street took the news of Trump fairly well. I still don't buy people, including relatives who tell me not voting or voting for a write in was still voting. I mean how can you vote for Hillary or Trump? The protestors have to realize Hillary was just as bad a candidate, with so much in her past shady. Unfortunately to keep her out, and you know I despise her, we put in a reality TV star. It calms me a little to think Herman Cain approves. I mean in the worst case scenario, what can Trump do to start the road to Armageddon? I do think it's a bad time to be a member of the human race overall. So many are out of work? I know some parents of recent college grads. Their kids have been rejected for the few job openings out there. It's a scary time. Maybe I should keep listening to Kate McKinnon's beautiful opening on SNL. I will never say I regret Hillary not getting in as I truly think she is evil, but Donald Trump leaves a pit in my stomach and queasiness. Any similiarities to Reagan that would calm us all down? AMERICA: A country in a slump whose parties came up with Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton for the oval office. Geez. (Are any of you truly terrified or just queasy?) Look, I'm not upset Sec. Clinton is not the President. She wasn't my favorite, and I think she would have done a fine job. What I AM upset about is that the GOP allowed this clown to get as far as he did and that we, as a country, actually allowed him to be elected. I have had visceral reactions seeing pictures of him, whether it's in the Oval Office with our current President or just walking down the hall with a headline stating "President-Elect." Will he ruin the country? No. Will he do all the things he said? No. Will he be impeached? Maybe. But, this country is no longer the gold standard. Other countries are mocking us. Ireland, Scotland, France and Germany have all denounced or lightly scolded our choice. It makes me sad that some of the same voters that chastised Carter, Clinton and Obama for lack of experience, didn't care with Trump. I will always respect the Office of the President, but this is the first time in my life that I haven't had ANY respect for the man that will occupy that office.
  5. I haven't been able to fact check, but I saw an article saying he didn't want to live in the White House full-time. Is that true?
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) Well wait... let's say this one-in-a-million (or one in a Greg?) scenario happens. If the Electors give Clinton 270, doesn't she win, end of story? Yes, I believe that is right. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) If the electors don't pick Trump, that would be an even bigger disaster than Trump being President. Also, I would like to buy life insurance on those electors. It's a secret ballot, no one would know. But teeeechnicaaaaally, this is what the Electoral College is kiiiiiinda for. Kiiiiinda.
  7. I know it's Vox, but the numbers are correct. Military and Political Experience of all the Presidents...Trump has Zero.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) Oh my bad. It was my prediction that they WILL. The TV and articles said it could. It's my take that they will, because Trump is hated by so many. And it could add to the "rigged" scenario. IF, and I mean IF, the Electoral College didn't get Mr. Trump to 270 votes needed. it goes to the House of Representatives and then THEY vote from the top 3 vote getters from the Electoral College. So, if it was Trump, Clinton and let's say Romney, the House chooses between those three.
  9. QUOTE (brett05 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) Joe was calling for people to keep fighting for their beliefs in a productive manner. To not turn tail and give up. *shaking my head* So, "grabbing my musket" means fighting for their beliefs in a productive manner, but protesting is not productive? Just trying to understand. Why is it ok for one group to not give up but the other HAS to give up? I understand that it's after the election, but Mr. Walsh said he was going to "grab his musket" if Trump lost. So, even the timing is the same.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) Here it is. Electoral College can refuse to put in Trump http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2016/11/10/...ctoral-college/ http://nypost.com/2016/11/09/the-one-scena...he-white-house/ And for those who think I troll about Chelsea ... look at this. She's being prepped to run for Congress http://nypost.com/2016/11/10/chelsea-clint...n-for-congress/ http://www.mediaite.com/online/report-chel...ressional-seat/ Maybe just maybe my posts have a shred of CORRECT futuristic thinking when a lot of you think I'm full of it. First you said they WILL. Now you say they COULD. Which is it?
  11. Andrew Cuomo? Or too Clinton-y?
  12. QUOTE (brett05 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) Do you think Joe literally called for violence? And more so he choose to grab an out of date antique weapon to perform such violence? Come on now. Sorry, I'll say it in different words. Mr. Walsh said he wouldn't accept it if Mrs. Clinton was elected THEN Mr. Walsh was calling out people for not accepting Mr. Trump being elected. Nothing to do with violence or guns or anything, but acceptance. He's being hypocritical. But thanks for being so literal.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) I think the point is that democrats all held Trump to task, when they were sure they were going to win, about his hesitancy to promise he would accept the results of the election...now they lose, and they are crying about the results of the election. It's not good optics for them. It isn't. But as they say on Law and Order..."He opened the door."
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 10:37 AM) Trump literally questioned the same process, the same election results and called for protest when Obama was elected. Its not entirely crazy that the same would happen to him. And then you have Joe Walsh, October 26th: "On November 8th, I'm voting for Trump. On November 9th, if Trump loses, I'm grabbing my musket. You in?" Yesterday: "These anti-Trump babies need to accept the election results and show respect." Yeah.
  15. American's love a comeback story, this has been shown with celebrities, sports stars, business people, etc. My problem is, those people lost something. Or had to face adversity. Or had health problems. Or drug problems. Our President Elect really hasn't. Bankruptcies? OK, maybe, but he's never been homeless. He doesn't talk about his parents like they were the thing that kept him going and losing them, had an adverse affect on his well being. He doesn't have a drug problem, that we know of. My point in all of this is, at least to me, his rhetoric has already done the damage. In my eyes, he can't unmake that bed. I'm as forgiving as the next person, but when you are running on the slogan "Make America Great Again," and with the things he's said and things he's done, I can't forgive him while he's in that position. In my eyes, he will never be qualified. I will always respect the position of President. I will never be able to respect THIS MAN in that position. Domestically, we'll ahve to deal with whatever works or doesn't work, but I'm not as worried about that, because, in that case, I believe Congress will prevail by reminding our President Elect that the US isn't a business. Every candidate, Dem or GOP had their issues. Things to be scared of. Only one of them acts like a petulant child. Only one of them uses the tone of, "Oh yeah...well...you're ugly." This is a man that will be representing us at G8 conferences. Will be discussing foreign policy with heads of state who are infinitely more qualified than he is. Might be brokering peace treaties. That has the authority, without Congress' approval, to send troops into a foreign country. I can take a step back, but I still see him. And I am terrified.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 10:06 AM) You know what. A lot of white, educated people voted for him too. People who sit behind desks at cushy jobs, making good money. These aren't people who are hit hard because a steel factory closed and they're not affected by Obamacare since they have the Aetna cadillac plan. These are your friends, neighbor, and relatives. I struggle to see what the had to gain by electing a completely inexperienced person who literally had no policy proposals other than a few vague promises about walls and banning Muslims. This is very bothersome. Also, a lot of people who wouldn't vote for Kerry because he was elitist and a Northeast Snob, just voted for a rich elitist New York snob. Difference being, one if incredibly smart and the other, well, lets just say the jury's still out on that one.
  17. Words matter people. And I'm not talking about Safe Spaces or whatever else. And when a candidate for the highest position in the land says things like Mexicans are rapists, etc. EVEN if they are taken out of context...it matters. Why? Because for someone who has been in the media spotlight for as long as Mr. Trump has, he should know that we live in a sound bite world. We have been TL;DR for a long time now and when you aren't careful with your wording, people hear that and they take it at face value, right or wrong. Children hear them. Adults who don't agree hear them. The groups he is talking about hear them. And they are scared. And whether or not anything comes of it, those words are what has lasted throughout this election. So, to just dismiss it like, oh, well, it probably won't happen, is just naive. EVEN IF IT PROBABLY WON'T HAPPEN! I have never, in my 45 years, seen such a visceral reaction to a candidate winning an election of any kind. From coast to coast, happy or sad. I have never heard of parents having to answer these kinds of questions like, Are we going to be deported? I have never seen or heard people being harassed the day after an election. I have never seen people protest a candidate to this extent after the election. It's ridiculous. And his words started it. Whether he believes them or not...his words started it.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) Rock, Never forget it really isnt about helping those people. Its about convincing them to vote against self interest because 99% beats 1% in every election. Most people are just not informed enough to actually understand the "rules" so when someone says "Im cutting your hours because of Obama" they dont understand that the person who is telling them that, may not be truthful. I think there are certain people on this board, who forget that when Im not wearing my "good" guy hat, there are people in the 1% who pay me to figure out how to look at the rules and make sure they make the most money while giving out the least benefits. Rich people don't get rich by handing out money.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:28 PM) Legitimately the DNC and RNC really need to start over again. Not only did they both pick their worst candidates in their parties history in an election they should have cakewalked in, they also cracked the door for the third party's as well. I don't think that last part is bad at all as long as their candidates are legitimate. More of this...and no, I didn't vote third party.
  20. Mr. Trump still lost the popular vote...if the GOP wants to continue controlling the House and Senate, they better step carefully. Because, even though he won the Electoral College, more than half the voters (even by a slim margin) didn't vote for him. So, it's still a tipping point. They can easily lose those voters.
  21. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) Ya women would have been much safer with Bill Clinton back in the White House. You do realize Trump has been accused of sexual assault by 12 women, right?
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:55 PM) Meet Trump's Cabinet-in-waiting Yeah, he's gonna be a nice moderate president we can all love. Lmao. Hoo boy.
  23. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:10 PM) I guess i don't see why. On the other side you have a complete robot who is totally calculated and fake and has been working that way for 30 years. People are naturally going to gravitate towards someone that has more charisma than a lamppost. We have a dumb electorate. We all knew that going in. They are called "politicians." And there are still 538 of them in Washington that will be making the laws. If they really wanted to "Drain the Swamp," people like McCain wouldn't be reelected. Not because he's a bad representative, but because he is a lifetime politician. That didn't happen.
  24. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) There are so many smart people on both sides of the aisle and Omarrossa to hold a cabinet position is not beyond the realm of possibilities. Secretary of the Interior Theodore Nugent.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) High school student threatened with suspension for wearing "Hillary for Prison 2016" shirt. Free expression to be sure. Secondary question, how far does the school have to go to protect her?
