  1. As has been said before, firing everyone will have absolutely no effect on this team winning as long as Reinsdorf and the other flunkies own this team. I don't trust him to hire the correct VPs, GM, etc. So, what the hell difference does it make? The only thing we can do is let our wallets do the talking and even that probably doesn't work as he's making enough from all the other things that ownership will barely feel it. Dont' care that Hahn addressed the media. None of it matters. Trades, new managers, coaches...none of it until the ownership group sells to someone who wants to win.
  2. We can all chant Fire Hahn or whatever, but this mess of an organization will continue to be a mess as long as the people at the top stay the same, and that's Reinsdorf and all his partners. They need to cut bait and sell the team to someone who put the team in a position to succeed.
  3. Mike Hagerty, 67. Rudy in Seinfeld's "The Raincoat" Mr. Treeger in Friends. Peanut Vendor is Austin Powers: the Spy who Shagged Me Etc. etc.
  4. One thing that we all forget about at times when talking about these players are...where do THEY want to sign? Maybe he wants to stay with the Mets or in New York and those teams have to make some moves before they can sign him. That's not to say he will eventually sign with the Sox or another team, but there's usually more to it.
  5. I wonder what Julie DiCaro thinks of him now?
  6. Just started reading, "Brat" by Andrew McCarthy. So far, it's pretty good. Haven't gotten to the meaty-80's stuff yet, but it's amazing how his aloof movie personality is in line with aloof real life personality.
  7. After the Nightenbomb with Tony LaRussa, I'd be more inclined to believe Nightengale than Bernstein's "source." That's just me tho.
  8. He owns the team. If it's Reinsdorf's issue, then it's a White Sox issue. Everyone is going to have to answer for it or about it. He won't be wearing a "Chicago Reinsdorfs" uniform. It will say "Sox" clear as day on the front. While you are right, Jerry made this decision knowing full well, he has made it a problem for everyone else on the team.
  9. To be fair, an employer has three choices in matters like this, when they are public...help, ignore, or cut bait. They all have ramifications, but only one really hurts and that is what the White Sox are doing now. Helping might not work, but you can say you tried. Cutting bait leaves that person behind, which could be a wake up call, or make it worse. Ignoring the problem doesn't do anyone any good. That's the problem I have currently.
  10. Give me Morton and Walker (If we can't get Bauer).
  11. Tammy Duckworth was inteviewed the other day by Ali Velshi (I know, I know), but she said she has spoken with the Joint Chiefs and some high ranking officials in all the branches and they reiterated what Danny is saying here. They will not get involved as they swore on the Constitution, not the Presidency. AND, they have to follow all LAWFUL orders.
  12. If you want to go young and proven, go Hinch or Cora. If you want to go experience and proven, go Bochy. If you want the next thing, you go with Sandy Alomar, Espada or Quatraro. Or some top notch AAA coach. This reaks of a last ditch effort to win just one, when what the Sox need is someone who can manage them for 7-10 years. UUUUUGGGHHH!!!
  13. I hope every single person in Detroit thanks Reinsdorf for this. Assuming Cora goes back to the Red Sox, then the Tiggers are going to get Hinch. *sigh*
  14. These are the top 32 managerial jobs in the world. As much as we talk about the same names recirculating, there are also names coming in and dropping out every year. If it's what you want to do and you are good at it, you will do everything you can to protect it. He made it known he didn't like it, he destroyed two monitors, he admitted to it, he took responsibility for it, he served his suspension, which was the 2nd longest ever (tied with Cora), not one PLAYER was suspended or punished in any way. I don't have a problem with Hinch. He screwed up, he took responsibility, he should be given a second chance if they think he can win here.
  15. Came across this the other day, not sure if it was posted earlier: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-italy-virus/new-coronavirus-losing-potency-top-italian-doctor-says-idUSKBN2370OQ Take it with a grain of salt, but if true, maybe we will be ok sooner rather than later.
  16. But what do you do about contracts if they don't have a season? Do the players burn a year? Does this year just not count? Too many issues with that. It isn't the players fault there might not be baseball this year. It's a tough scenario.
  17. What if the White Sox flipped Mazara to the Red Sox as part of a deal? Maybe Mazara and one or more of the glutton of OF in the system? Or maybe Dahlquist or Lambert? Or both? For JD Martinez, Eovaldi and some cash?
  18. Has anyone mentioned the possibility of Kole Calhoun as a 2 year stopgap? Decent power hitter. Gold Glove OF. LHB. War is consistent and he can play CF. If someone has mentioned him already...never mind.
  19. The guy spent the last few years a stone's throw away from his wife's family. Now he took a little less money to be a stone's throw away from his wife's family. The rumors are Cole wants to be back on the West Coast, near where he grew up. It's not that big of a leap when the money is close. If the Sox offered another year at $20mil and he turned it down, I'd agree with you. Also, he's never pitched in the AL, and there is still the DH stigma for AL pitchers and ERAs. It sucks, but it doesn't define the Sox. Machado did...this doesn't.
