QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 09:02 AM) Well I think most Americans (even center lefts to medium lefts) probably realize a conservative SCOTUS is safer for the people. That's why Trump will probably win. But I think to your point, in case of a Hillary victory, most people probably want a republican congress to slow any Hillary/Bernie ideas down. For example, those crazies want complete govrnmt control of healthcare. Scary scary scary to those who fight for their dollars. I think you'll see that reflected in the final voting. I couldn't disagree more. But that's ok.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 06:21 PM) Cause it's not easy to rig the system. President is the most important job. So the Trickle Down theory doesn't work in elections either.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) There's a chance we don't know who controls the Senate until January. https://t.co/qBquzX0mex Can someone explain this to me? Yet, in this reliable Republican state, they are voting for a man that is running on a platform of being "an outsider," of being "not from Washington," of being not a Bush or a Clinton. So, how can voters in these states vote for "not another Clinton," yet, keep incumbents that have served since 1983 and 1999 respectively and expect change?

Yep. Rigged.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 05:21 PM) It's to the point that it wouldn't totally shock me if Trump and Clinton both came out on stage somewhere and said "We're the Arristocrats".

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) Im going to comment to both in a single post. So there are a lot of theories I used spoiler tags because its a lot of theories from outside sources and thus its up to you guys if you want to see it or not. Response:

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 06:18 PM) Yeah but you can't deny my complaint. You guys blast a lot of people like Limbaugh out of pocket and I get reamed when I blast Hillary without links, etc. Limbaugh, Meghan McCain, Herman Cain, some of the people I link to ... they immediately get dismissed as kooks or horrible people. Then when I blasted Hillary on occasion without proof I got told to cut it out. I even got told to quit putting negative Hillary stuff in the Democrat thread. Why is Limbaugh so bad a source? He's rich. He has a zillion listeners like Stern. Greg, one side of your mouth is saying he's smart and has listeners and knows what he is talking about and then, on the other side of his mouth, you talk about his schtick. Which is it? Is he a smart, politically savvy commentator? Or is he a guy who does bits? Because you can't truly be both. See Springer, Jerry.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) Thank goodness FBI reopens email probe. I wish we could have an emergency delay in the election process and start over. The two candidates are unfit to be president. I was talking to a good friend about the FBI last night and how disappointed we both were in their being corrupt in letting Hillary off the hook without formal charges. I thought Comey should go to jail. Thank goodness this is happening, though I know no details yet. How did this not get more play? No one noticed this line? Really Greg? Maybe you should be a politician because that was a fantastic CYA statement.

Greg...if you translate John Kass from Newspaperese to English, it would be "clickbait."

QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 10:46 PM) Possibly my favorite episode of Westworld yet. Really want to know what Lawrence is up to. Also, does anyone else think it's weird that the park creator's name is Robert Ford? The writers/Crichton could have picked any name, and came up with the name of the guy who killed Jesse James? Things are starting to make a little more sense now. Really looking forward to Delores and the Man in Black and how they interact.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 10:32 AM) The only guy that comes to mind as paying for his own stadium is Jerry Jones, and even that was only 2/3 of it. Arlington paid for the other 1/3. Am I missing someone? I mean it is cute and all to build this myth of a benevolent prince owner who is going to rescue us from our castle stadium and whisk us away to live happily ever after build us a new palace on the lake, but then real life calls. That doesn't actually happen anywhere. Billionaires get to be billionaires by being business savvy and having other people pay for things like a new stadium. Why are you so angry today? I didn't say anyone was going to build it. I just said if I was a billionaire (which I'm not and probably never will be) and if I built a new stadium (which I won't). We were talking about where to build one. Lakefront isn't possible, Bridgeport is ok. I made a suggestion of a site. That's all.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) And rich people always give away all their money, so totally. No...rich people get rich by NOT spending their money. Yet, I was just making a suggestion about where a stadium could be built that is close to the city, on the river, and still ont eh South Side... But, if this isn't the forum for grandiose plans that will never happen because, you know, I didn't do any of those things.

With the billions I earned starting Google...I would cover the tracks south of Roosevelt with a new stadium, point it NE. Close to Expy. Close to trains. South side. Close to Manny's. Close to Chernin's for the ladies. Who's with me?!?!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) This is exactly my line of thought. She hasn't really had to campaign on her record. Largely she has campaigned on Trumps. While that may be true, you can't say for sure that any candidate would or wouldn't win until they actually go against each other. Polls aren't accurate and no one knows what would happen. I'm also not saying Clinton would win against Kasich, because honestly, I don't and may never know. I'm not a big fan of absolutes in elections.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) Kasich would have run away with the election. Why do you say that?

I was in Austin in a restaurant with some Chicagoans who were Cub fans and one Astros fan. The rest of the bar was obviously all Astros fans. On that last out, I stood up in my chair and screamed, "YES! WOOOOOO!" Then I realized, I was the only one in the bar rooting for the Sox. And you know what...I didn't give a rats keister. It was awesome. My only regret is not getting tickets to a game in Houston.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 11:48 PM) Tony. Hillary is just as bad as Trump. How can anybody vote for this person? Corruption. How have we gotten to this point? We are going to elect Hillary Clinton. Tony, why are you voting for Hillary? http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/26/us/polit...mails.html?_r=0 If I may interject... No matter who you vote for, Hillary, Donald, Gary, Jill, someone else, there is always someone who will say to you, "How can anybody vote for this person?" That's not what the question should be. The question should be, "How can we, as voters, change the system for the better?"

Please don't forget that Jon Stewart was a seasoned on-air talent. From stand up to Short Attention Span Theater to the Jon Stewart Show on MTV and I think Fox, then to this. Noah is a stand up that did a little correspondent work and then was handed the reins to the show. PLUS, I think TDS wanted to try out a foreign voice instead of the disgruntled American sick of the system. Noah needs to find his voice and I don't know if he'll be allowed to in the long run.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) This is absolutely it. They will get it eventually. It might take a while, but they will get it. Their spacing is awful. Can't cycle when you've got two people nearly running into each other.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) When she is candid on plane that's her sense of humor but her prepared remarks are safe and OBVIOUS as hell. And it works well for non-comedy settings, she was able to lay traps over and over for Trump in debates. But, she has had legitimately funny people work for her, so it seems to be the cautious nature of the candidate. I mean, I can visualize the meeting where someone says "what about trumped up trickle down" and it makes me CRINGE. She was rattling off the zingers pretty well at the Al Smith dinner. Trump was straight up reading. Which was really out of character...except for the fact that he can't make fun of himself.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) I think both Romney and McCain would have defeated Hillary. Romney maybe, McCain...no. He had that anchor attached to him.
-
I find it shocking when Trump supporters say that he is "an outsider." Sure, he may be a DC outsider. But to say he isn't a lifelong politician is just ridiculous. He sidles up to whomever he needs to support his interests. He tries to use litigation to his benefit. He backs out of deals when they don't work for him. I mean, aren't these all things we don't like about "insiders?"

Re: Westworld A couple of those posted theories were debunked last night...but I have no idea where they are going...and I like it! Except I think there is going to be a meaningful collision course between the Man in Black and Delores. But I don't know why yet.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 11:45 PM) I just read an article that some Russian higher-up says if Clinton is elected there will be nuclear war sooner rather than later. Interesting. We should just start it now and get it over with. Putin may be a dictator and evil, but he isn't stupid.

DePaul took the last stadium spot. /green
