QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 01:30 PM) WRONG. Those people just like Trump so much they're repeatedly donating. Besides, why is Hillary HACKING Trump's website?!?!?! I only have the best loops. The best. In fact, I was in Chicago last week, and I told them, through the gunfire, that their Loop can't compare to my loop.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) There's being partisan, then there's this petty bulls***. Especially since they are on record saying they were going to wait until the new president is in office. They didn't specify which candidate when they announced it.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) I'm totally in on it. Love the story lines...that being said. I did love the way it ended though. Good way to get people motivated to watch next week.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) Wait, this isn't in response to my request, is it? He clearly stated she is running based on the Clinton Prez record - which she is. He did NOT say that is all she is running on. You have turned someone's statement into something more extreme than it was. Why don't you just acknowledge that it was you who added the "ALL" part, yo made a mistake, and move on? Guys, if your wife was the President and YOU ended up running, wouldn't you want to support her and her policies? This is a non-issue. She's an incredibly smart lady, for all we know, Pres. Clinton and her may have ironed out details in the Oval Office. First Ladies aren't figureheads. They are smart women who still have a direct effect on their husbands and their policies. Even if they are just a sounding board. That is important. This is a silly argument. Policies are policies. You either have them or you don't. And they will change over the course of your presidency or your life.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) One of the columnists at the Tribune had this to say this morning and it's also a valid point in my opinion: "The onus is now on Hahn, the architect of this mess. And fortunately for Renteria, Hahn will make sure pitching coach for life Don Cooper is calling the shots on the pitching side. Despite fine seasons by Sale and Jose Quintana, the Sox are 14th in the majors in pitching this year, just as they were last year. They were 20th in 2013, and 27th in 2014. Cooper has never been on the hot seat, for reasons unknown. Sox fans deserve better. They've put up with a lot of nonsense the last few years, and no one seems to take responsibility." Mark Rodon got better as the year went on. So did Miggy Gonzalez. Jus' sayin'.

If the Sox were successful, FO decisions wouldn't be slammed. End of story.

If they don't bring back Man Soo Lee...then I'm just going to root for the Cubs. /green

QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) Stop "sniping" me. I got called out for saying no one should care about Michelle Obama because her position is irrelevant and holds no barriers to get. I defended my point. As far as the bolded, you don't care about it because it doesn't support your agenda. It shows they're both full of s*** and their word is only good for the moment. I want substance from politicians not flavor-of-the-week rhetoric motivated only by selfish means. raBBit...are you married? Do you respect her opinion? Do you think she is smart? I hope you do for your sake, but also to make the point that if you think the President of the United STates doesn't ask he wife (and pretty soon, her husband) their opinion on certain matters, you are crazy. And, on top of that, the last few First Ladies have the brains to answer rationally. They don't make the speeches. They don't veto or sign bills. But to say they don't do anything is illogical and short-sighted.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 11:17 PM) Yes but what about my scenario. Let's say he's told his power is about to be gone. There are N. Koreans outside his mansion and they ARE going to kill him. Doesn't he wanna go down in the history books as the guy who nuked Seoul and started the end of the world? His power is ALWAYS about to be gone. That's the deal. He knows it. That's why he keeps his country in the dark, literally. The other thing people in power are is paranoid. You don't think he's paranoid? Or delusional? He is both. And he hasn't done it.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 23, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) That was my only point of contention about the new sponsor, the down arrow had to go. Shoot, if it's going to be an arrow, it SHOULD be pointing up as if you flipped it over, not only is it an arrow, it is also shaped like ahouse, which is what you would buy with a mortgage from Guaranteed Rate. Shut up and give me my money!

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) Trump had an opportunity to go where no republican has gone before with the racial question. He chickened out and kept repeating law and order and providing no hope to minority voters. You want to know why a majority of minorities don't vote f***ing republican? Look no further than that bulls*** ass answer. In fact, Hillary looked lethargic through most of the first hour I watched the debate. However, during that segment, her demeanor changed. She showed passion and fire about the police shenanigans that have been going on in this country. I'm not saying she won me over, but at least she gave a better answer on a topic that effects a lot of people. Not to mention arguing about race relations with the moderator, who also happens to be African-American. Yeah.....

Here's the thing Greg, I get what you are saying, but men in power only want one thing. Power. If there's no North Korea, there's no power. He is "showing his power" by conducting these tests and pushing the boundaries. His best ally is the us vs. the World scenario.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
CanOfCorn replied to shysocks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) Honest question, and not to get off topic, what do you think Joe Maddon would have done different. I am not in total agreement, but some agreement that he could or would have squeezed a few more wins out of this team. I'd think Saladino would have had a lot more playing time on this team all over the field. I'd think that we'd have way less Avi Garcia anywhere. And that there'd be more shifting of Lawrie and Frazier around the diamond. Like for example Abreu at DH, Frazier at 1B, Saladino at 3B some nights. Or even Melky at DH, Saladino in the OF, etc. Other than that, I'm not sure than morale how much he would have improved the team. Maybe instead of our record now we are like the Royals at just above .500. Just my completely unjusitifed stab at a guess. The Sox certainly wouldn't be nearly as good as the Cubs, but I think the team would have a direction. A manager that isn't afraid to fail. Can manage outside of the box. Can show the strengths and deficiencies of the players and use or avoid them as such. Joe Maddon hasn't won a damn thing yet, so I'm not ready to anoint him as the end-all, be-all, but either he or Bochy and maybe a couple of others could have a +4 WAR with this team. But who knows. Maybe they DID have the horses to win? -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) Change that to Hillary. Change all of that to middle class.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) If thats true then they are going to trot out the same exact team next year only to finish woefully out of the race, again It will be different, just not DRASTICALLY different. My guess is Avi, Lawrie, Jackson, Avila and some bench peeps, gone. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) Joe Maddon could be managing this squad and they would have finished in 4th place. Some people want the Sox to hire Dave Martinez. If Dave Martinez was managing the 2016 White Sox and Robin Ventura was sitting next to Joe Maddon, how different would their records be than they are now? I just think since his contract is up it would be a time to try something new. I do like the fact they aren't pinning the losing on him. That should be refreshing. The fact is, if the players don't change, whoever manages this team will eventually be an idiot. I don't know about that first statement. -

Even if they are doing it for Robin to "go out on his own terms," how does that make the franchise look? At least if the team cuts ties, it looks like they are trying to improve. If the manager cuts ties, it looks like everyone has given up. Bleh. -
Oh Greg. Any protest is really only meant to do one thing. Ignite discussions. The problem with this country is we can't even do that right. Instead of listening and wondering WHY Colin Kaepernick and others are protesting in this manner, we shout PATRIOTISM at the top of our lungs and grill him for it. Americans act on the act and not on the issues. That is wholly wrong in every way. My point is this...who cares who he is or what he does or how much he makes. Listen to him. Listen to Megan Rapinoe. Listen to Tommie Smith and John Carlos. Hear what they are saying. If you don't like athletes protesting, then do something about the underlying issue.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) I'll be disappointed but won't think they blew it at the deadline. Now after this offseason maybe. But last thing I want them to do is give these guys away Exactly. Sox are in the catbird seat (Thanks, Hawk). They can sit back, relax and strap it down and wait for every other GM to come calling. If they don't get what they want..."We'll just hold on to them until the offseason." If we all think this year is a lost cause...what difference does it make if current players are here or not? Whatever we get back may not even be up this year. So you can watch bad baseball or REALLY bad baseball.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) If you're debating whether slavery is good or bad, sure. But there's a difference between the treatment of slaves by people like Jefferson versus the treatment of slaves in the deep, deep South. Not recognizing and talking about the distinction allows people to be slavery apologists in the first place. But who decides? It doesn't matter how a slave is treated. They are owned. They have no control over their own life. Even if they are granted a little extra freedom or are better fed or clothed or housed. They couldn't say, "I can't build this building today, because I need to tend to my farm." Because A) they don't have a farm and B) THEY ARE SLAVES! I'm sorry, but if you don't have free will, then it doesn't matter. Sorry, I can't be swayed no matter how you or Y2HH or O'Reilly wants to argue it.
