Probably not, but I don't know if that is now a hold up. I was under the assumption that was for last year to pitch in the playoffs. If that does matter, then I would guess there is no way it's the Brewers. Probably the Mets.

Are teams likely to give up top 100 offensive prospects this off-season? 

I don't think the White Sox should focus on specific positions as much as acquiring top talent so hopefully Getz won't settle for less talent because he wants a RF (as an example).

I think they would want 2 top prospects but not sure if that will be doable

Mets don't have anyone in their rotation, though they also lack some of the top-top prospects like some of the other programs, but Jett Williams is a fast riser and Drew Gilbert (not mentioned in this article but someone to look at) sounds like the good parts of Adam Eaton.

Phillies are obvious as that's where I thought he was going at the deadline last year, still like them to make this move.

On the surface, this doesn't make sense: Trading a great talent with little guarantee the team will get a good value in return. There is nothing like a rebuild. How did that last one go?

Crochet is a Number 1 or 2 starter for many teams next year. The White Sox should listen to all the offers but only trade him if they get a great offer and "someone" in the Sox office is smart enough to realize that. A number 1 or 2 starter should only be traded if there is a haul coming back.

If they don't get a great offer...every start is one step closer to getting nothing back in return if he gets hurt again.

That's the talking time bomb that can't explode while the ball is in Getz's court.

They were close with the Phillies at the deadline from what I've heard and it sounds Aiden Miller was a real sticking point. Dodgers talks involved Josue de Paula and River Ryan. The White Sox decided to hold obviously. I'd be really surprised if he's not moved this off-season. 

I'm scared. It's early, but this is the one area Getz has proven (so far) he isn't very good at.

This is THE big question to me. I’m just not interested in pitching at all.

Jose’s de Paula…tough guy to buy in on in this org, but definitely seems like the only kind of talent we’ll get.

Really tough market for Sox to build out offensively, extremely important to find some more talent here as well as drafting/intl (even if years away - as trade material sooner)

Phillies didn't want to give up Painter and Dodgers didn't want to give up Rushing.

If the Sox thought they had a real good shot at getting Painter they might not have drafted Hagen Smith.

As opposed to retaining Crochet in 2025 just to lose 100+ games again WITH him, while retaining significant injury risk and watching his value deplete regardless of how he pitches? 

Trading Crochet - assuming you can get a very good return - is an absolute no brainer.

No, keep Crochet and try to build around him.  Trading him seems to me like constant rebuilding that leads nowhere.  Are they trading him to get value or are they trading him to save money? In the future how many more budget moves are made while the team goes nowhere. Sorry, I've been a fan for a long time and have had enough of rebuilding.  This team should be keeping and developing talent instead of trading it away. I will not assume that they will get a good return.

For sure. I don’t expect it to happen quickly.  But I think as many as 20 or more teams should have legitimate interest. They should be able to do really well. I don’t think Getz did all that well in the Cease deal, so it’s certainly fair to have some skepticism there, and obviously teams have been pretty reluctant to move elite position player prospects recently.

Crochet is controlled for 2 seasons. The first season they’ll be terrible. Absolute best case scenario, Sox are mildly interesting up and coming team in 2026. Crochets control does not fit the time line and the Sox desperately need position player talent and he’s the last major piece to get it.

JR won't give an extension to a pitcher with one TJ in his history who throws in the upper 90s....might as well wish for Jason Benetti to return to the Sox under new ownership at some Indeterminate point in the future.

Keeping him is not a realistic option with JR, therefore he has to be traded. It sucks, but such is a life as a Sox fan.
