Would you rather have 1 year of Cease or 2 of Crochet?

2 years of Crochet but one is going to cost more than the other. That can't be ignored.

  • Who cares? The White Sox can't get any lower. They are going to be awful for years. If the Cubs are willing to pony up, do it.

This may be the most mind-breaking concept I have ever seen presented at Soxtalk.

What Morosi left out is the Padres also came to the realization that Cease sucks in the playoffs…

If it leads to more fun-filled trade threads involving Orioles fans, I'm all for it.

If the idea is that Preller wants Crochet but doesn't want to give up Salas or De Vries, the Orioles would be a weird trade partner, because 1) we could just get prospects from them directly rather than making SD the middleman, 2) Elias isn't going to give up anything meaningful for 1 year of Cease if he wasn't willing to give up anything meaningful for 2 years of Cease and 3) the Orioles no longer seem to be a great fit for the Sox, the guys we were interested in last year are now accruing service time and are older and don't really fit our expected contention period (Cowser, Kjerstad etc) and/or are likely to end up at 1B (Mayo, Basallo) and the younger guys aren't really anything special so I don't see how making SD the middleman in order to send BAL prospects to CWS makes sense.

I still don’t see how this works if their top 2 prospects are off the table.

The point of dealing Cease isn't to get guys the main guys you would get for Crochet. It would be to help your prospect depth when you deal your own top guys from taking a major hit.

We have officially come full circle, and or have jumped the shark.

I personally would keep Cease and the assets needed to acquire Crochet. Cease has far less injury risk, and longterm I'd feel better resigning him rather than extending Crochet.

Anybody going to post that Boston Globe writers tweet? Trade may be coming

Here we go

Ugh, missed out on Teel by one pick

Kyle Teel would be amazing

Oh schiiiiiit.

Didnt we miss drafting Teel by like one pick?

If no Mayer, then likely Abreu or Casas

My guess is we’ll get 4 players… Teel, Abreu, and two low level arms.

Perhaps a low level positional lottery pick instead of two arms.

Does a Teel acquisition make it more likely Quero trends towards DH eventually?

Braden Montgomery included.

Does Getz have a fascination with collecting catchers like Hahn had a fascination with collecting players who had no position and we heard about once five years ago

Would have preferred Mayer obviously, but Teel, Montgomery, Meidroth, and González is actually pretty damn good.

Who is the better catcher between Quero and Teel? Rotate between catcher and DH?
