QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 10:27 PM) 3 pages in and no BW post about Santiago? I'm here I'm here. Santiago was pretty dominant after being recalled and was a major part in the Angels ability to take over the A's. Overall the year was a step back for him but he still has left a big whole in our pitching staff. Hopefully we won'thave to spend much to replace him. I'm rooting for him and he should bounce back to his 2013 levels next year. My worry is still the same, that he's been jerked around so often that it's stunted his development but we'll see.

I thought Raw was great last week outside the last 30 minutes. Really enjoyed the matches. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 12, 2014 -> 10:57 AM) I need to play two (Jamaal Charles on BYE) - Chris Ivory, Shane Vereen, Storm Johnson. Someone tell me what to do. Ivory for sure. I'd go Johnson for the upside play with Gerhart out. Decent chance he ends up with like 1 or 2 points though because Jacksonville. -

I'm tempted to start the whole nyg lineup today...Manning, Andre Williams, Cruz, and Larry Donnell. I can't think of a reason not too, but hate putting all my eggs in one basketball. Probably bench Manning for Cam and Donnel for one of Reed/Witten/Heath Miller. Cruz and Williams are must plays. -

Me too. Seemed like the least hyped start since hawks began their reign. Edit: ah, probably because they usually open up on national tv. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 06:04 AM) ...and kill things even more. Ambrose needs to go over on both. He's so f'n over right now. WWE desperately needs him. I'm sure Cena would veto it though. And Kathy Lee is kinda hot for an older woman. And they're bringing on another unknown reality star next week? That won't end well. Rollins is incredible too as a heel. No problem with him coming out on top. So funny how they pick Roman Reigns out of those 3. -

RE: MSU vs Notre Dame. I would project MSU with the ever so slightly better wins (we're assuming a FSU loss here) and the fact that the committee will probably want to avoid a rematch if possible, especially if nd gets the doors blown off them. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) I don't think it is ironic at all. I hate KU with a passion but I completely recognize why kids go there. My point is that when Jimmy Whitt chose Arkansas over Missouri despite being from Columbia I don't remember a knee jerk reaction of "He was paid more" by Arkansas. And losing to Arkansas sucks because of Mike Anderson. But every U of I fan I know that follows basketball has this instinctive reaction to assign the single reason all of these kids don't choose Illinois as they were better paid elsewhere. It's not a good look. It's not because I love to hate on Illinois, I'm basically forced to follow them just because of this board otherwise I wouldn't think about them at all. Mizzou fans are literally the only reason I know Self is so incredibly dirty. They used to have a running article on their message board tracking his every step. It was hilarious in all honesty, not even being snark about it. It was a great article and I hope they still keep up with it even after leaving the SEC -

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 10:00 AM) I certainly agree with your last point, but I have never heard any serious suggestions that Self, specifically, is insanely dirty. Well the NCAA busted them for Darnell Jackson/JR Giddens for getting paid, not having a compliance compartment, Darrell Arthur for never graduating high school, lack of institutional control/more paying recruits, tons of other violations, that ticket scandal, among a bunch of other things that I don't remember. -

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) I haven't seen anyone mention MSU's Pat Narduzzi for Illinois. He turned down UConn last year; A Big 10 job would be better than that gig, but as arguably the conference's top asst. I seriously wonder if Illinois would be attractive to him. Top jobs don't seem to offer other coordinators too often so yeah he's a great candidate. If he wants to remain in the B1G/Midwest then I guess why not Illinois. Still could get a better offer though certainly. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) No. He didn't rebound, didn't block shots and only shot 40% from the floor during AAU play this summer. He looks the part but is bad at basketball right now. The latter being why I love him. Give that man some proper coaching and on a nice training regime and he's going to be scary. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) I've heard lots of Illini fans say everyone is dirty. Look, Kansas has great facilities, an incredible history and fieldhouse and the knowledge that if that if it's the best 2 or 3 programs in the country. When they come to talk to you, it just validates that you are the best to everyone. They also likely have a great booster network that is interested in helping out the team. This is also the case for many many programs. And if you sit down and listen to the recruits, every program is going to make you feel like you are taken care of, everyone has a great campus, but the thing that makes you put your ink down is the relationship you feel with the coach and program. Bill Self is Bill Self because he's made great relationships with programs across the country and those coaches trust him and those recruits trust their coaches. But if you listen to Illini fans, every recruit is about to sign on with Ole Jim Groce if not fer Bill Self comin in with a helicopter full of money! I do have to say this is insanely ironic from a Mizzou fan. Since he took over Kansas, Self and KU have probably been investigated and busted more than any other program in the country. There's something to it at least. And I must be forgetting who Groce has lost out to Self other than Alexander. I'm sure there's someone, honestly can't remember. -

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:27 AM) Probably. I've never heard anything to seriously suggest that. You've never heard anyone say Kansas is dirty? I mean if he's doing it there it just makes sense he was doing it at Illinois. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:07 AM) My favorite are the accusations against Bill Self at Kansas. He is playing dirty there, yet there is zero chance he played dirty at Illinois? Is it wrong to think he was insanely dirty at both? -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:17 AM) Not more than the Red Sox, Yankees or Dodgers, though. Much rather see the Dodgersand their bevy of stars as well as Strasburg, Harper and the Nats. Cardinals and Giants bore me to tears. Royals are a fun story. Orioles are just kind of there but I'd much rather watch the AL now.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 08:17 AM) They need to find a up-and-coming coach that was a former player. Someone that knows the success of the past and can promote it to recruits. Is there such a person out there? Maybe an ex-coach or player under a former head coach. The best candidates fitting that I can see are John Holecek, Loyola HS coach and Mike Bellamy, our WR coach. Neither is qualified. Another bad part about hiring terrible coach after terrible coach is the lack of a coaching tree. I like the idea though. There's um, Mike Locksley who was a top assistant but quite possibly the worst head coach in cfb history. I don't mind a guy who is from the area, can sell us as the state school. I like Babers in that regard, from his time at Eastern (which has to be the most bizarre hotbed for football out there). The aforementioned Fuentes coached at Illinois State as long with a lot of his staff. A message board poster claims we put out feelers to Sean Payton, lol. -

I think just the opposite of Illinois. They need to make their past a bigger deal. They should point to those "5 BANNERZ!!!". They had the greatest CFB player ever play at their school. There's also Dick Butkus, Kevin Hardy, Simeon Rice etc. This is a school that doesn't appreciate it's history at all. I realize it wouldn't be much more than a historical footnote now, and that's fine, but you would even realize Illinois had a history talking to just about anyone, fans or not. Not saying we should return to a national power even, but marketing sucks from making illinois look like anything but a doormat. That's even when we do win.
