QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 03:51 AM) A 6'11" center shooting 28% over his last 7 games on 54 shots. What a f***ing joke. Lol it's that bad? Good lord. -
The Bulls won in 3OT.

I don't get how Egwu has regressed so much. Not that he was great to begin with which makes regression so much worse. And why is the coaching staff still green lighting his 3s? -
Did anyone watch The Assets? CIA drama based on true events during the 80s. Bit Homelandish except more PG since it's on ABC. I thought it was great. Anyways apparently the second episode was the lowest rated prime time tv show ever and it was cancelled. How lame.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 16, 2014 -> 12:40 AM) B&B mentioned we are backing off? I'm kind of disappointed by this. But I am not surprised. I think everyone in baseball knows that he will be a Dodger or Yankee. It's Bernstein and his infamous sources.

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 10:18 PM) Ah, yes.... that year's version of Edwin Jackson for Dunn or Jermaine Dye for Homer Bailey. I remember people thinking that thing was done. And John Garland to Houston. Astros had the press conference ready to make the announcement and...it never happened. Forget who we were getting.

Oh yeah that deal was crazy too

Oh yeah and if you're looking for a FA it's the Johnny Damon thread and not close.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) How many pages were in the thread? It was spread out across the board so impossible to tell. This summers Peavy thread was really long, so was when we first traded for him and he spurned us. Manny Ramirez also broke the board a few times think so did Adrian Gonzalez and we never even got him. Hundred of pages of threads were dedicated to acquiring Edwin Jackson on ten different occasions. These are all the names everyone became obsessed with and I'm sure Im missing a bunch.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 09:57 PM) Wait, what? This site became Chaveztalk.com for awhile. You're number one stop for all things Eric Chavez. We had a couple other guys like that too.

So that will more than likely be over 1 million dollars per start 7 years times 35 starts per year equals 245 starts. He more than likely won't make that many though, obviously.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 06:36 PM) And it's also funny saying teams are overrated when they lose in conference. News flash, nobody is getting through the Big Ten undefeated. Illinois was overrated when they were ranked and lost to Northwestern. f*** that s***. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 04:38 PM) No, totally the worst, because we didn't rush the floor. Just wasn't fun enough. That sucks then. I think you need to stop thinking like that though. Sounds pretty boring. I didn't rush the court last year vs Indiana but for those who did though it looked like they had fun. I personally had fun celebrating in the stands. Them rushing certainly did not affect my fun. To each their own though, just let them do what they want to do. -

That sounds like a terrible best moment. To me the best moment was winning all those basketball games. -

Looking for sanctity from a bunch of 20 year old crazed mostly male college students is still hilarious to me. Who cares? You won. As for the Krush good Lord, using the word suck is a capital offense. So yeah their holier than thou attitude doesn't surprise me on anything. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) Haha, whatever you say. They need more guys like you SO EVERYONE RUSHES THE COURT EVERY GAME. You are giving a reason, you're saying because it's fun. I don't like the idea of it for multiple reasons. If there was never another floor rush, I'd be ok with it. They do do it because it's fun I imagine. If they have some other reason to, I certainly don't give a s***. I'm not looking for one. Im not going to sit and pretend to be all high and mighty about the legality or safety of it. Then I'd just be an old man yelling at clouds. But I give you that it is a better reason then some stupid made up standard that you should only rush the court given some circumstances. Looking for sanctity from a bunch of 20 year old crazed mostly male college students is hilarious to me. -
LeBron would get 40 million per on an open market. But that's fine. NBAs salary system is just horrible and oddly enough destroys the small market teams it tries to help out.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) Is Flowers participating in this hitting camp? I haven't seen his name mentioned. Pretty ominous if Nieto and Phegley are participating. I think Tyler may be getting dealt. Who knows, maybe Flowers eventually gets sent to WAS to let the Sox keep Nieto. I think it's more for the rookies so they aren't making him go. When we've ran this camp before though some of the non invited would show up anyways so hopefully he did.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) Flowers. There'll be a team's catcher that gets hurt in camp and the Sox will offer him for an A-ball arm or a guy out of options that they think they can keep. I think they'll try and work out a deal with Washington for Nieto prior to that to keep him in the system, in which case they'd go Flowers/Phegley, but I honestly don't believe they'll offer Nieto back. I have nothing really to add other than that I think it's funny I'm defending Flowers roster spot and you're giving it away.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 03:04 PM) If he is offered back, WAS will take him without a doubt. They get a guy back who they think is a fringe prospect, and make 25k to boot? Of course they will take him back and put him back in the minors. Why wouldn't they? You offer him back first and then work something out with WAS like wite was saying. They don't seem to like him and we do, so it could be some pretty minor compensation.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 03:46 PM) I think Nieto will break camp with the Sox almost no matter what, and I think he will have to show true, pure, 100% incompetence to not make the team. I also think the Sox will try and work out a deal with Washington to keep him either way. It's obvious Washington wasn't high on him, but the Sox scouts saw something they like (though who knows if that's a good or bad thing). I agree with the latter. I think there's a definite chance he sticks with us even if offered back. That would be ideal. We don't have to hide him and he immediately becomes our top catcher prospect. As for the former, whose spot do you have him taking?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 02:30 PM) You think they're going to send him back? Unless Flowers or Phegley suffer a long term injury I can't see us trying to hide a catcher for an entire 162 game season. It's not like he's that great a prospect where it would be worth it. Phegley is much more deserving of MLB ABs and not sure what Flowers option situation is. Either way it would still be hiding him since he hasn't appeared above A ball. So yeah I think we offer him back. That's most likely at the start of the season but if not then, then some point later.

Bobby Jenks wants to make a comeback
Buehrle>Wood replied to The Ultimate Champion's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 02:05 PM) Wow. That's a great little feel-good story there. I wish him all the luck in the world, and I would love to see him back on the mound for the Sox, assuming he belongs there. I can't think of a better closer the Sox have had since Thigpen. Unreal. Nobody owes anyone anything, and everyone should have kept their mouths shut, but they're all human and make mistakes. Why the hell are we even focusing on it. KW claimed him and called him up--because he was was damn good and could help the team. KW gave him the shot and Jenks made KW look like a genius. Everyone got their due, no debts owed. Ozzie put him in the closer role, made some amusing gestures/comments about his size on national television and made him a known name around the league. Jenks took the ball when asked and dominated and made Ozzie's late game decisions easy and helped him look like a good manager, while making himself a feared closer around the league. Everyone got their due, no debts owed. And that whole alcohol abuse thing? What thing? You know the details, or only what you read from biased sources? You know that unless you were there, you will never know what really happened because neither side's version of the story will ever be the true story. Let's not be too quick to judge when we really don't know the truth. Jenks was one of the best closers for the Sox in a long time, was part of a historical year, and was an interesting, if not great story. Again, I would love to see him back in a Sox uniform if he can still pitch. Bobby Jenks has been suspended for drinking. He's also had a DUI in a hit and run in a separate incident. He's been in rehab for substance abuse. He's admitted himself he had substance abuse problems in the past. These are all well documented. I'm not really sure where you going with the other side of the story since Bobby himself agrees he has problems. Seems like everyone is on the same page there. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) If you read that last post, it's kind of remarkable watching a person give a team credit for the feel good part of the under the radar story and then deny the bad part of it. Pretty much.
