Do we have the April MLB record for outfield errors yet? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 01:16 AM) We're now on to player #30 on the roster, and that's with 2 guys day to day as well. The best way to help this bench would be to hire Jesus and have him wave some hands over people. Herm needs to gain weight again.

Gavin Floyd to DL - Out 14-19 months for TJ Surgery

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 02:09 AM) 3 innings, 9 hits for Santiago so far. Yeah surprised he actually gave up a run this year. Maybe he is human. -

Hopefully he goes to the DL so Santiago can start. -
Would things be any different under Walker?
Buehrle>Wood replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I feel like I'm the only one who watched last season. Walker being no longer associated with this team was a godsend. Dick Allen was proven more than wrong. This year will be interesting though. I don't think we've been this offensively talentless on paper since 1999. Hard to prove anything with the lineups we are sending out. -
It must be said - Hawk Harrelson has to go

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 06:24 PM) Your last two sentences could have also described Ozzie Guillen. Doubtful at best. Playing the game doesn't equal knowing the game better, it's such a pointless card to play. What is it, 2-3 GMs right now actually played the game at the MLB level? He thinks he knows the game so well and has it all figured out, that's why he ignores all these advanced metrics. Those metrics help people understand the game better than him. He's outright refusing to learn more and gather more accurate information. I was going to bring up Ozzie actually. Without him and to a lesser extent Buehrle, we have no one to make headlines, especially nationally. Hawk is just trying to pick up the slack. Thankfully though, he isn't doing it with bigoted comments and any decisions he makes does not actually affect the team. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 06:01 PM) I don't understand this entire embarrassment angle. Who, other than Sox fans on a message board is even paying much attention to this? I don't think Yankee, Red Sox, Reds, Angels or any of the other teams fans give a crap about what Hawk thinks about sabermetrics. Looking around the web on various sites and boards, everyone seems to know who Hawk is. Not related to this incident but just in general. I find it odd because I can't name very many team announcers at all. I don't find him to be an embarassment though. I like him and appreciate the attention he brings us that we otherwise usually lack. -
I heard the Sox were making these up. Anyone know if they are on sale at the park yet? Could not find them online.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 12:43 PM) I did love the meathead NFL fans who were chanting Boston Sucks. I thought this too, but I think it was "Boston Strong".

2012-2013 NCAA Basketball thread

Haha, you are so sensitive to IU's scholarship situation. I don't think Crean maybe going a year without having to can someone is something to be lauded, especially after still oversigning. -
Infield fly rule called on a foul ball?

Thats cool and all but this will of course never see the light of day, thankfully. If it did, Twitter would owe billions.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 07:45 PM) Relevant http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/art...10304/index.htm Trying to control what is said in forums is difficult. We have only so much control, but at the same time, trying to crack open a case creates publicity too. And since Reddit/4Chan tried to do that, how much traffic do you think they got? Yes, I'm sure they are trying to exonerate themselves from this mess, and they will, but, ethics aside, I don't think they minded all the publicity. Haha, I was actually going to post that quote. It is a good one.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 07:32 PM) They do what they can, but some times things are going to slip through...it's just a user forum. Maybe people should stop taking things like user forums so damn seriously. People need to treat these things as what they are, instead of treating them as gospel, etc...it's just people stating opinions. Treat it as such. I hate reddit personally. I think it is an awful website filled with the smuggest of the smug, at least the defaults are. I just find it odd people are going to attack them here as opposed to Twitter, which has 100x volume, 0 moderation and made discussion about the missing kid a very hot topic. And no I'm not going to bash Twitter here either, just found it interesting what people are citing as stories.
-
Reddit was instantly deleting anything to do with the missing Brown kid (this was amusing to watch in itself. New threads were gone the second you hit refresh)and eventually abolished their entire discussion forum on the Boston case. Not really more they could have there IMO. Ia also don't think a lot of people understand what Reddit is.

Made for some fun trading.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 03:50 AM) IMO, it has a lot less to do with drafting safe talent. Instead, far too many trades have resulted recently in the Sox giving up talented players only to get absolutely nothing in terms of impact players in return. Hahn definitely has a tough job right now and can't afford to continue with Kenny's streak of striking out on trades. Gillaspie was a good start for Hahn, but bigger trades are sure to come. There's not a single position player that you can place in the mock 2015 Sox lineup and be confident they will be an everyday starter. I'm not sure there's another team in baseball you could say that about. And yet our rotation in 2015 may very well be the same as it is now, and that's a good thing. We just need someone, anyone, who can hit. Luckily that should be easier to find. Edit: should say the way it should be now.

Game Thread - 4/22 @ 7:10 PM Tribe vs. Sox
Buehrle>Wood replied to hogan873's topic in 2013 Season in Review
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 03:27 AM) A-14,950, in case you were wondering. I was at the game. I've had partial season tickets my entire life, going 20+ games a year. Don't think I've seen the stadium this empty. The 14k is generous. -
That reminds me, I don't think you could form a worse bench if you tried.
-
QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 04:13 AM) You do know Flowers has been one of the better hitters on the team right? Which is hilarious, because he is awful. The pen is fine. A rough two games, but they have been fine. It will take a hit whenever Sox management gets their heads out of their ass and moves Santiago to the rotation. But still fine. And a rotation of Sale- Peavy- Danks- Santiago- Q should be able to compete.with anyone. But they won't. Not with the offense as is and terrible roster management and decision making.
