I'll be in Minnesota for the 4th. Wonder if they allow big fireworks...

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) Thome's homerun is only the 2nd to get in the river. Not really. There have been 27 hit on that concourse back there. Daryl Ward hit one into the river on a fly. Thome's was not on a fly.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) That's true, but I'd imagine that it'd be like on the last generation where it came out on the Playstation 2 like a full year before it came out on the Xbox. That's an awful long wait... No, it's coming out at the same time.

A little bit too much confidence by Ozzie right here...

Official 2006 NBA Draft Thread

Guillermo Diaz just got drafted. I played volleyball against him for many years. Absolutly insane athelete. One of the best I've seen close-up. Jumps about 50 inches. If they can convert him to do anything well in the NBA, he'll be one hell of a player. -

Knicks with the steal of the draft drafting Mardy Collins, arguably the best PG in the draft. It's too bad he'll be buried there. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) He did turn the ball over too much for my liking as well but I love how he controls a game. He also just has such a beautiful and soft touch, and he's easily the best passer in this draft. He'll be a great pg, no doubt in my mind. Nonetheless, the guy is still an absolute tool. He failed to qualify academically at UCONN(which is really saying something considering he played for Calhoun). Then the laptop incident happened. We all know how that story went. I wouldn't want this guy anywhere near my club. If you want a PG, take a chance on a guy like Mardi Collins, who has been a consensus lottery pick as recently as Winter. The depth at PG in this draft was too great to risk it and pick a guy like Williams. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:50 AM) He averaged under 9.5 pts and 6.3 rebounds. If that is terrific then 80% of the starters in college basketball are terrific. Because offense is the only thing that counts. But anyway, Balkman won't be anything more than a role-player(which is fine for this draft). He's one of the best defenders, if not the best, defenders in the draft. He'll be able to come off the bench and shut down pretty much anyone else at the SF position, which isn't all too common in the NBA these days. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:48 AM) The Nets just got the steal of the draft. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:52 AM) I like Marcus Williams too. Marcus Williams turns the ball way too much to be a point guard in the NBA and the only thing he'll steal will be lap-tops(Betcha never heard that one before ). I wouldn't take this guy anywhere in the first round. -

The guy from South Carolina was a terrific player in college. His only knock is that he's undersized. Of course it will still be bllown out of proportion the next couple days. Wow, the Boston Celtics just traded INTO the draft to get Rajon Rondo. It's funny how the "lower-tier" PGs are as good, if not better than, the "higher-tier" PGs. -
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) You've disappointed me I've fallen into Microsoft's Wii60 marketing campaign.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) Yep, nothing like being force-fed extremely expensive technology that does nothing for the gameplay because sony is more interested in the bluray vs. hddvd war...$600 dollars is just way too much for a video game system... As $1,000 is way too much for a movie watching station. I'll take my $40 DVD player.
-
I'll definitly be a Wii60 buyer. You add up the 5 systems(and growing) on the Virtual Console, and X-Box Live arcade, you are esentially getting 8 consoles for 600$, the price of a PlayStation 3.
-
I'm going to wait on it until they fix all of the mechanical problems, then maybe pick it up. There really aren't too many good games out for it yet(but their coming), and the price is still way to steep. I figure I'll buy it after the AAA titles actually start to come out. EDIT: Those NCAA videos looks terrible for the hardware their running on....

What was the worst trade in baseball history?

QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) BABE RUTH for money to pay for a broadway show The White Sox were originally pegged to get him while giving up Joe Jackson and 60,000$. But the Red Sox took the 100,000 instead. How dumb. This is clearly the worst deal ever. -
QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) And how did the Sox do against those teams this year? Oh wait... The White Sox aren't exactly in need of proving themselves. But what are they, 5-1 against the Tigers themselves? QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) Well they play NY and Boston a total of 6 more games. Even if they were to be swept all 6 games it's still merely 6 games. Like you said, it's 6 games! I don't see them winning more than 2 of those the way they have played against the top teams. That could very likely be the difference in the race.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) Problem is there aren't a lot of teams out there that can beat the Tigers. The White Sox, Red Sox, and Yankees come to mind. What are they, 3 and 10 vs. the "other" 3 best teams in baseball?
-
When do the Tigers play some decent teams again so we can take over first place again?
