  1. I don't want to trade PK right now... but will we feel the same way in 2 weeks? In a month? Who is the real Paul Konerko? The one from the first half of 2003? The one from the first half of 2004? Is he somewhere in between? If you look at their histories, the only drop off is Jones's average is about 40 points lower on his whole career. He's got pretty similar HR and RBI totals. Then consider you're getting a GG in center field AND a putting a damn good defensive player in right in Rowand, add in a quality starter in Ortiz... looks like a pretty good trade.
  2. I'm sure Boston will be somebody's trade partner before July 31. If you listened to B&B yesterday during "High Noon," they mentioned something about Boston looking at first basemen, namely Konerko, that his stock has never been higher, and that there are probably things on their roster that the White Sox should take a good look at.
  3. It's always nice to have a bandwagon! :-p
  4. True. I'd personally prefer this team to go under the radar, a la the Marlins of last year. It's just nice to see that there is a buzz starting around this team!
  5. The guy finally gives us some props. It's just one guys opinion, but it underlies the growing buzz around this team. click me
  6. I'd rather not trade Burke, I think he's valuable to have off of the bench, especially if we get into double switch situations in an NL ball park...
  7. as a fellow ND student, it'd make me sad to see Brey go, but maybe we'd be able to find somebody better. The last time a BBall coach left us for his dream job, that guy failed and we got a good coach. Maybe Digger would come back.
  8. Yeah, that's it that's still on the team. Unless Cal Eldridge is in our system still somewhere... But I think this year's starters are a lot more solid than they were in 2000. Back then we had 4 guys pitching out of their minds in Baldwin, Eldridge, Sirotka, and Parque. This year, we have 3 pretty established starters, guys that barring injury shouldn't break down. Also, our offense has felt less "flukey" this year. We really got a lot of great breaks in 2000, and that was a team that never seemed to have to deal with adversity throughout the seaon. This team has dealt a lot more with adversity and I think the character and resolve of this team is much stronger than it was in 2000.
  9. The team is 4-0 when Burke starts at catcher.
  10. Runs in the family... but it was by the grace of God that I was born and raised a Sox fan. If you're lucky enough to be a Sox fan, you're lucky enough.
  11. I was simply stating that I'd rather put Schoe out on the mound than Garland. In some way, maybe my opinion justifies Schoe's?
  12. Sounds like a none issue. Schoe has to be ok if he loses his job on merit, not injury. It's going to be ok. I think.
  13. Well seeing as it just happened, we don't know yet (I was talking about the Philidelphia mini-camp, not the San Fran incident).
  14. I dunno, I don't trust the rookie yet. Also, I think this whole thing is blown out of proportion. Sounds like the whole Owens isn't getting enough balls in practice crap.
  15. kickin' this rocks. 2 game AL Central lead!
  16. Yeah, I think he's a better starter option than Garland, if Shoe is healthy. He might not have the same stuff or talent, but I think he's got a better head on his shoulders and more heart.
  17. I don't think Olivo's surgery is a factor. That being said, the Mariners didn't get a lot of power out of this deal. MO has got some pop, but it will be interesting to see his power numbers after a few years at SafeCo.
  18. I think Shoe adds more value to this team as a starter than as a reliever. Agree or disagree?
  19. Lately our offense hasn't been so feast-or-famine, or so it seems.
  20. I can't blame him for being mad. He earned a spot as a starter and I think he should hold onto the fifth spot over Garland.
  21. Kevin Brown has had a horrendous history of injuries in the past. He's pretty damn good, but he's beatable.
  22. meaning you project the yankees to produce more runs throughout the entire season than our line-up? I guess my point is that the Yankees have been beaten in the playoffs the past three years. Two times they lost because they were outdeuled on the mound (Diamondbacks and Marlins). The lost to the Angels in 2002, because that team was awesome. Sure they're good, but they're not unbeatable. We've got all the pieces to put it together. Now it's just a matter for this team to do it on the field.
