Should we resurrect the DEAD jokes?

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) I think he would hit between .250 and .270, maybe close to .250 with about 10-15 home runs. He has no business being in the #2 hole though. Alright, I could believe 250 and 10-15, but I wouldn't expect much more.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) Based on his rookie year when he wasn't handled correctly? You can't just look at a guys rookie year, look what Alex Gordon is doing right now. I just think based on how he looks now and last year, that it's a pretty big assumption that he'll hit 270. I could be wrong, but that's just what my eyes tell me.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) So it's unreasonable to think he can hit .260/.270 while hitting for more power than those guys would? Based on his current approach and past results, yes.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) Simpsons Nope, Seinfeld. Kramer gets on as an extra in a Woody Allen movie. Eventually, he gets the line "These pretzels are making me thirsty!"

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) The Sox offense is making me angry. These pretzels are making me thirsty!!! Nice Seinfeld reference.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) I wouldn't expect BA to hit .300 but he could resemble Pods/Erstad's production while playing gold glove caliber defense. I really doubt that.

LET'S GET SOME f***ING RUNS!!!

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) Well, we are at least getting baserunners today. Now the next step in progression is getting them in to score... But the middle of the order might actually have to do something then!

Maybe we can work the pitch count on this Ace pitcher

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) WE WANT MOLINA!!! BARABAS!

his ERA is under 9.00! Sweet!

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:17 PM) If the 2004 team had any pitching, that would have been a playoff team easily. I'll gladly take back Carlos Lee for Pods, and take my chances with the homer or nothing approach with quality pitching. OK, that makes sense. I just was checking to see if you were saying they weren't "Homer or nothing"

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:15 PM) The 2004 offense is so maligned for so many wrong reasons. What are the right reasons?

Mark's ERA is now under 12.00
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:05 PM) Are you speaking about Toby? He might be the 5th or 6th most important player on the team this year. ahead of which of these? Kong Thome Pods Dye Crede Uribe Iguchi Garland Contreras Jenks MacDougal AJ (who hall replaces) Vazquez Marky-Mark Danks Erstad

QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 10:10 AM) Yeah, I got your point. And I got it last night when Fathom and Kalapse said the same thing. Once again, I am not arguing that that is not the correct strategy in that situation. I'm arguing that Ozzie manages a team of human beings here and it's not quite as simple as a lot of people try to make it. If you've ever managed people before, you know that there can be extraordinary benefits which come out of keeping your employees happy. I simply think Ozzie is trying to build Scottie's confidence up, and reward him for his solid play. The difference in the team Podsednik makes when he is playing well and he is confident is so huge as opposed to when he is struggling and beating himself down. I know the vast majority of people will disagree (and most have already), but I'll take the once in a blue-moon blunder in the field by Scottie if he is stepping to the plate with confidence 600 times a season. Amen.

Probably to throttle Soxtalk's bandwidth.

QUOTE(BainesHOF @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 08:48 AM) A major loss in velocity is a major concern. Right now, Jenks has emerged as the team's biggest concern, jumping ahead of Buehrle. I think Marky-Mark is more of an unknown than a concern at this point. I think Jenks has had enough outings with relatively low velocity to make worry legitimate. Mark just had some bad luck with a hard hit ball.

OK, if you're going to blame Ozzie for last night's game, I don't think it should be over Pods. He's been our most consistent bat and his defense hasn't been too bad this year. Plus, there are no promises that either BA or Erstad make the throw at home or get to the fly ball. I think you should fault him for using Jenks in Monday's game in a non-save situation. Unfortunately, it seems that we can't rely on Jenks as a back-to-back closer right now and really, it was unnecessary to use him Monday night. I can fault Ozzie for that move, but I'm not sure I can really fault him for the non-substitution.

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 11:38 PM) It's disgusting the way we figure out ways to lose games in Oakland. We're now 5-24 and Buehrle's experience there has been like Little Shop of Horrors. FEED ME

I seem to remember a closer controversy early in the 2005 season... Ozzie sorted it out well enough then. Let's give him a chance to sort it out this time around.

what's with the Anderson love/Ozzie conspiricy here?

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 11:08 PM) Hopefully they're both gone after this year. Hopefully he's replaced with Dusty Baker.
