QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) this was said about 2 minutes ago by Dan Bernstein, whom I do like, btw... Um, ok Dan. Let's see, who is better than the White Sox even if they have questions? the Tigers? No. the Yankees? No. the Red Sox? No. the Rangers? No. the Mets? No. the Reds? No. I mean, they may be having their problems, but the White Sox still match up well with anyone, and are as much a "World Series team" as anyone else. He's not an idiot. I sort of agree with him. Having junk in CF, a very shaky bullpen, and inconsistent starters is not in my mind a recipe for a return to the World Series. This team has to get a lot better in terms of fundamental play if we want it to make thte WS again.

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) I don't think classy is a word I would use for Ozzie I would say he has respect for the game. And I would say he is a great player manager but I would not rate him as a great in game manager just yet. What the heck is a great "in game manager" and why is it important to be one? Didn't we learn last year that it's most important to be an "in season manager"? Don't you think Ozzie has shown he's great at managing a group of players through-out an entire season?

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Interested to see what Loaiza does tonight. my guess is that he gives up a ton of runs

For now, Minny's window is closed. Yes, they have the 2 stud lefties and the closer and Mauer, but they have nowhere near as complete a team as the White Sox or Tigers right now, which will cost them some games. Plus, they don't have that ridiculous luck any more like they used to have.

The best part of Jenks is that nobody on SportsCenter has given him a dumb nickname (i.e. K-Rod)

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 07:53 AM) Cleveland is the much scarier team of the 2, right now they're still hanging out around .500 waiting to make thier big run. Their pitching is much weaker this year, bullpen included but after last season it's hard to discount the Indians especially with the way that lineup can hit when they're clicking. The Indians certainly have shown they are capable of the big run, but they've lost a bunch of pieces from last year's team that helped make that possible. I just don't see them catching the "never lose a game" magic they had going for about 2 months. I fear the Tigers more because I think Leyland is a fantastic manager (I don't think Wedge with the Indians is very good) and I think that they are a very complete team. They have a respectable defensive player at each position that can hit and a pretty good pitching staff. Now, I think losing Maroth is going to hurt a bit (who would have said that a year ago) and might be the difference between the division and the wild card for the Tigers.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 07:21 AM) I must have missed it, but is there a link that lists the players that have been named in this new leak? I just saw a joke leaked page (page 13, so you can follow along if you like). It named Jeter as the guy in Florida who told him of the doctor, Pujols, Thome, Derek Lee, and Lidge as the anabolic steroid users and Thome was the one with the doctor in Colorado. It also said Tony Pena always had the supply of amphetamenes. The article really had me going until the last line which said "Grimsley described a conversation he had last year with his mother , a small acrobat, John Kruk's "fancy testicle" and Juan Pierre (AIDS). Note, I put this in green because it was a JOKE, but it really got my heart going. It's sort of funny, maybe we can make a mad-libs game out of this. Here is a copy of the SPOOFED leaked affadavit:

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) Another great thing about this situation is the fact that Grimsley was taking and supplying HGH, the holy grail of performance enhancers to athletes and not just another steroid, it will be simply impossible for Fehr, Selig or any other f***tard with any affiliation to the game to ignore the glaring problem that is HGH use in baseball. This is the best thing to hit baseball since those 2 monstrous f***s hit all those HRs back in '98. the only thing I don't think we can blame steroids on Selig and Fehr. The steroid culture in baseball probably goes back way, way longer.

Here's the affadavit: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0607061grimsley1.html Unfortunately, the names are blacked out...

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:08 AM) There's a certain former teammate, rumored to be from last year, that's now living in Florida who he ratted out. Sound familiar to anyone.....the guy's supposed to have a short name. Is it bad or good that I had to read the next few posts to figure out you were talking about Sosa? I completely forgot about him... Also, I saw this on Page2 of ESPN. Really makes you question just how man guys out there are juicing... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=jones/060602

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:24 AM) Its put up or shut up, and Zumaya put up. So Pauly should do the Macarena at homeplate the next time he gets a HR on Zumaya?

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 11:14 AM) It's a shame because they were expecting him to be able to pitch this season. The hope was that with time off the back would heal some. Doesn't look like it has. I assume he's still trying? Unfortuntately, I'm not sure he properly informed KW just how bad his back was and as a result, we did not make a more serious play for a reliever. This team might be a lot better with a guy like Howry or Eyre on it.

In case you guys missed it, I thought I'd mention that the Tigers lost tonight
