  1. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) I'm much happier seeing the Sox win 1-0 than 10-8. That said, we're going to need to get at least 12 wins and an ERA of less than 4.70 from both Contreras and El Duque if we're going to win the Central. This team doesn't have the power of the '00-'03 squads to be able to "play comeback" in the late innings. If we get 12 wins from Duque and Contreras, that's 24. Another 16 from Garcia and 20 from Buehrle put us at 60. That leaves about 30 more wins for Garland, B-Mac, and the pen. I like our chances, I'll be honest.
  2. I didn't see the game, but I'm just hopeful that the team can maintain good position until Frank comes back. Good signs: We had pretty good defense Buerhle pitched well, ideally this indicates he will not have a "snakebit" year a la 2003 Things I'd still like to see this year: End the curse of the Left Coast B-Mac coming up and dictating either a 6 man rotation or moving Contreras to a set-up role AL Central title Frank stays healthy once he gets back I could get into a statistical/probabalistic argument about why having a comeback team is better than having a power team, in terms of come-from-behind victories, but I won't.
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) Holy s***, where have you been for like ever? I was just wondering where you have been. Hey man! Yeah, school started up and stuff happened... what can you say? Yeah, I'll be back now that the season is starting up again.
  4. I like Willie more than Durham. Hey plays way better defense.
  5. Welcome aboard. I think Garland is fine attitude wise. Maybe he'll break out someday, maybe he won't... we'll have to wait and see.
  6. for the all star game. selected for the all star game.
  7. Is Eric Wedge still a manager of the year candidate?
  8. lol, I bet you're a better baserunner than Konerko!
  9. you can't unload EVERYBODY
  10. Also, the Philly rain-out is August 30th.
  11. who is that girl? mmm...
  12. that's either good for us or bad for us. Good that CC is coming back to earth. Bad that maybe it's just that KC can actually put together some good games.
  13. If this guy can turn it around fulltime in August... whoever would have thought Ben Davis, throw-in catcher, could possibly be the team's savior?
  14. yeah, we need some Savvy and Guile on this team more than anything else. Win the game on the basepaths and with solid defense.
  15. our guys need to start coming through in the clutch, rather than blowing it like they have lately.
  16. Did anyone see the Village? Without spoilers, how was it? I think I'm one of the few people here that is a fan of Signs and 6th Sense, so I think I'll see it regardless.
  17. Man, what did they all get suspend for? I don't wanna lose my priviledges...
  18. apparently one game is enough to deem Loaiza a stud playoff pitcher.
  19. such a good point, you made it three times!
  20. Gary Sheffield practically ran me and my buddy over with his Lexus when we were in NYC during spring break last March. We gave him the :fyou Met Steve Kerr when I was a kid. He came to my grade school and put on a 3 point shooting show. He spent a few minutes with me afterwards and the next day I hit a three to win a game. My family sent him the tape and we got a nice letter back saying that he enjoyed it. I also met Digger Phelps and had dinner with the guy at a banquet for ND's marching band. I call him once in a while on my cell phone. I almost got him to go on the end of the year senior pub crawl.
  21. after playing detroit... I'm not as uber confident about just raking in wins against them. However, Minnesota has struggled against them, to be sure.
  22. At least Contreras can maybe give us the quality start every now and then. Loaiza has had what, 3 all year?
