  1. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) 1 out Wedge, 2nd and 3rd thanks!
  2. I'd say Juggs's work indicates what at least I feel instinctively... this is a better team than last year and has some staying power for the whole season.
  3. all I have to say is Maggs Seriously though, this is really great. I feel a lot better about this team than I have before.
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) I heard this upcoming Detroit series was selling real well. After all, it was gonna be Boo Maggs weekend. :headshake What about the Magglio Ordonez Tuesday? Somebody should talk to Brooks about that one.
  5. You forgot to mention that the Cubs are awesome and JOHN CUSSACK! is too.
  6. QUOTE(thomsonmi @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) I think Ozzie will give Jon a chance to close it out with a 4 run lead. agreed, considering how taxed the bullpen was against KC/
  7. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) Speaking of dreams, does anyone ever dream about the Sox? There's a few times I can remember dreaming of being at White Sox playoff games. You need to find yourself a girl, mate. I'd recommend starting wtih your avatar.
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) It seems that there are rules against calling certain favorites out. It seems that you are wrong. There are no rules on who you can call out or not, it's just that some people will inevitably disagree with you. Crede's hot right now, but his best stretch so far has been a really good offensive half-season, although he has played plus to plus plus defense throughout his whole career. Expecting more than that is foolish. The ball is in Crede's hands to prove we can expect more from him offensively. Rowand has been a historic slow starter, that's why he gets a bit of slack on this board. If he doesn't start turning it around in a manner his history suggests, then we'll call him out. Also, none of us has followed Dye that closely so we really have no idea what is going on with him.
  9. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) EVERY player who leaves the Sox cannot be a bad guy. That's probably true, but every player that left the Sox last year either stunk or didn't play baseball Ozzie's way. I voted No. I had initially thought Ozzie might become a LaRussa type of manager, but somebody mentioned another good comparison: Lasorda. The dude was tough as nails and rough on his players, but he always got the most out of them. Maybe Ozzie won't make his players hate him as much, but I think he knows people and how to push their buttons to get the most out of them.
  10. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) It's only 16 games, but one other thing we are doing much better this year than last is not allowing the opponent to score in the next half-inning after we score. So far, this has been one terrific pitching staff. Very good point. Our friend E-Lo almost always coughed up a lead. These pitchers are tough when they get a lead and they don't freak out when they fall behind by a run or two. They're a really tough bunch, which is good!
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) I'm pretty sure that was Pacino. Did they do the bit from scarface?
  12. QUOTE(Quality Revenge At Last @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Find a line up and stick with it. Dont pull a Dusty Baker and have about 120 different line ups. ::sarcastic number but you know what I mean:: why? what advantage does having a single line-up serve?
  13. I don't think it's a big deal that Ozzie switches the line-up around. It's been working for him so far, plus it gives the guys fresh looks at different orders.
  14. Glad to see Shingo regain his form, even for just one game. Hopefully he can right himself permanently.
  15. We better work on our Volcano Karma so we can channel enough mana to bring a Shivan Dragon into play... ...oh boy, I just dated myself.
  16. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) Cubs down 2-0. Larry Walker just hit a solo shot if anyone cares, haha. Not really.
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) I've always believed that one day, Garland would "get it". I've seen too many young pitchers that have talent, struggle for a few years while they learn how to consistently get big league hitters out. Eventually, they become solid pitchers. It's not an easy process, and some take longer than others. Look not much further than guys like Schilling or Jason Schmidt.
  18. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) Flubs Can we get a moratorium on the use of the term "Flubs" to describe the team on the Northside? I'm sure Soxtalk could apply its collective creative muscle to cook up something much more deragatory .
  19. I'm actually anxious to see how they fair. I'll finally think this team has a real shot if they get over the west coast curse.
  20. Jose will look good at times, but we don't watch those games closely enough to see all the 0-4 3K performances he'll have along the way. I'm happy with what we have.
