I disagree. They can trade the prospects they don't see being impact players before they lose their value. Stiever is an excellent example of this. Yep and with a team with so many positions locked down for the foreseeable future, I don’t mind it. I know some will freak out about this, but I think Kopech should be traded.

I also think the allure of playing for the Mets right now is real. Needless to say, you won’t hear players wanting to come to the Sox due to Jerry.

Bauer was and is always the clear choice for me. I don’t even particularly like Joc, as he seems the type to come here and hit .175. It’s just I never thought Springer was a legit option. I know there were people affiliated with Astros who knew he wanted to go back to east coast.

Actually there have been numerous reports by national guys the last few weeks saying Sox are one of the few teams expected to spend.

Because outside of Springer (who doesn’t want to play RF) and Bauer, there are better championship winning options available via trade.

I swear it feels like some people are melting down this morning just cause they hate Jerry (god knows he needs to sell) or hate Tony so much that it’s ruined everything about the franchise for themselves.

Springer wants to stay in CF, wants to go to east coast and wants to lead off. The Mets have always been the easiest prediction of the offseason.

We still have no idea if they will take on significant money via trade for pitching. Also, I think it’s bogus for people to not acknowledge that all budget decisions got blown up over the last year due to a pandemic. There’s a reason only 3-5 teams are expected to increase payroll (and Sox are one of them)

Rosario is a fine option

They might have tried to get him at a bargain price, who knows. I think there’s a lot of games being played by the agency, as they have 3 guys the Sox theoretically would want for the same position.

I’ll be honest, Springer never made any sense to the Sox. I’m shocked at how many people thought it was possible, even likely. This isn’t about any insider who mentioned it, as they can only report what they hear.

This isn’t surprising. It is ironic that the first national rumor of the meetings is not about which player the Sox might sign, but it’s about which player they won’t sign. Joc has always made the most sense by far.
