Just listened to Hahn with Kaplan. Two things that stood out:
- mentioned trade discussions, which means it’s not just talking to free agents like someone suggested earlier
- he adamantly agreed with Kaplan about the idea of not spending just to spend if they miss on the big guys
Tannehill’s column makes it sound like the other 2-3 moves would be stop-gaps

Yeah if you don’t land Manny or Harper, the moves they made would make no sense (especially Alonso) and look like a giant waste of money. Herrera looks to be an overpay.
Gregor now saying they won’t go above 300, but nothing about AAV

This might be the most pessimistic article yet regarding Manny. DVS has made it clear all weekend he doesn’t think the Sox are getting him.

Let’s face it, he’s as good as done to the fans no matter what if they don’t get Manny. It’s too bad as he seems like a great guy, but he will just be synonymous with failure if Manny goes elsewhere.
Not saying it’s true or not, but could easily be something where Manny asked him how the organization was and he said it was nice. Doesn’t mean he’s telling him to go there over the Sox.
Not saying he’s a nut job, but this person has some interesting “insight” as to why Manny is likely going to San Diego
