Alonso cost them 9 million, gave Indians salary relief to potentially keep their stellar staff together and is blocking Palka from getting at bats. I like Alonso, but if they miss on Manny, it’s a ridiculous acquisition.

Taking a 1-year deal and signing after season started is a brutal idea. You’re only costing yourself a ton of money in your next deal if you slump in 2019, and not having a Spring Training is a nice recipe for decreased production.
