This guy was one of the first to mention the Padres were in on Manny. He sure seems confident they're going to get him...and if it's true that 8/250 would seal the deal, the Sox really just need to move to Portland during the night.

I never said the Sox are in the lead. I just think if the Sox had no shot at him, Yonder wouldn't be publicizing that. I also don't think he would specifically FaceTime Manny and have two other teammates tell him they wanted him to sign if he knew they had no shot.
Yonder wouldn't be face timing him right before the ceremonies if he didn't think they had a shot at him. There's absolutely no reason for him to do that and share it with the public then.
Just means he hasn’t accepted it. You can tell which Sox reporters think they have a chance to sign Manny and which ones don’t.
edit: feel free to say I interpreted it wrong and that DVS is saying that Lozano didn’t even respond to the offer.
Something doesn’t add up with the Padres as the mystery team with the highest offer. Andy Martino mentioned that Manny visited a mystery team a few weeks ago, and Heyman suggested that team has highest offer. Does this mean there’s another mystery team besides Padres?
As Hahn said, it's a binary issue. He either gets him or doesn't. Not getting him would be inexcusable, as that would be two straight offseasons where they didn't add any premium or controllable assets.
