  1. also, just like to say that Manny Machado is visiting the Sox in the coming days/weeks and his thread has fallen off the first page
  2. If Cubs are serious about getting him, they will have moved the players they need to by that time. I don't buy for a second this is going into February.

  4. Yeah, that's not fair...Pax has had a team over .500 in the last 6 years In all honesty though, the Sox are just too irrelevant these days. When you have horrible attendance, horrible TV ratings and a horrible team....you're not exactly at the top of everyone's wish list. The unique situation exists this offseason in that Harper and Machado might not take the most money (like what usually happens) due to unusual circumstances (Harper wanting to play with Bryant, Manny being a Yanks fan)
  5. Yeah I would say the fact is that he hasn't said something along the lines of "you can't put all your eggs into one basket" is a good thing.
  6. yep, we're his safety school right now. Still waiting to hear back from his dream school(s)
  7. What else is Hahn really going to say? Yes, we're going to make sure we offer the most money to the point that preferences don't even matter?
  8. And I swear this has nothing to do with what Ron said, but if Harper does end up getting the Cubs or Dodgers to offer him a huge front loaded contract with early opt-out, why wouldn't he take that?
  9. There's more to that quote, as he discussed family situations, etc. (I think this is in regards to Charlie Morton, who wanted to pitch closer to his wife's family in Florida). If you listen to the whole thing, it didn't come across as pessimistic.
  10. it would mean that the agent(s) have told them what their client is seeking. Doesn't mean anything in terms of working on a deal.
  11. if it's Hayward or Yu, yes. If it's Chatwood, then it's just as likely to free up space for reliever/middle infielder.
  12. He also said he doesn’t want to sign players that might block prospects in 3 or so years.
  13. I actually think it’s good if they haven’t offered a deal yet. At face value, would mean that they didn’t get told it’s too low.
