The Cubs had the Zobrist deal a few years ago done for over 24 hours and no one had any idea he had already taken his physical. Meanwhile, the Mets and others thought they were still in the hunt for him. Cubs kept it quiet so they could finish the Castro trade.

If he was posting rumors and deleting since the Bour thing, I feel people in those reddit threads would be calling him out. I’m sure once the Bour thing came true, people were noticing if/when he posted.

For the Cubs? Opens up RF while also adding relief pieces. Happ is completely expendable. This would be a deal less done for payroll flexibility but more getting rid of Heyward. They only do this if they’ve had the money all along to sign Harper.

Yep their major league scouting has been beyond terrible. It’s like every other player they acquire comes to Chicago and forgets how to play and is out of baseball in two years. The faith people have in this front office is too strong.

They have a new GM and seem to know they’re going to lose MadBum. It would be a ridiculously dumb idea to bring in Heyward.
