  1. If the gun was slow, then that's exactly what he was at. I know I've said this a lot, but once he figures out how to elevate the ball with 2 strikes without losing velocity, his strike out rate is going to skyrocket again.
  2. Did you expect him to be 99-100 consistently as a starter?
  3. Doesn't this feel like deja vu from last year
  4. Don't get me wrong, I'm very content with what I saw from Kopech. If he had this same umpire with the command he had last start, he wouldn't have made it out of the first inning.
  5. Avi is ready. Another homer, just missed another.
  6. They have such different fastballs, it's not even worth worrying about for you. Kopech had more swings and misses on it tonight than I saw Giolito have all year.
  7. On the tv gun, he hit 97 once. 95-96 with every other fastball in the zone. Every fastball up and out of the zone was 91-92. Again, it could be the Charlotte gun is 2-3 mph off.
  8. Well yeah, look at the outfield and catching crew they have. Timmy hasn't hit for power in a while. Also it's called facing great Indians pitching. I do think one thing that is becoming obvious though is they need a power upgrade at 3rd next year.
  9. I would take Adley over Madrigal and Larnach this year. Keep losing Sox
  10. Not worried yet, as this seems to be a Sox thing trying to sacrifice velocity for command. It's not like Kopech ever averaged 97-98 fastballs last year over the entire game. His fastball also has far more explosiveness than Giolito.
  11. It's the same velocity he was throwing at in April. When it's hitting 91-92, it's clearly mechanical. It's blatantly obvious when watching. The stuff is clearly good, just not as electric as last year.
  12. He's throwing a ton of fastballs. sliders haven't been close enough to the zone to get chases. In terms of pitching in the majors, he better learn to pitch effectively up in the zone if he's not going to have other-worldly velcoity. 95 at the belt being the only pitch you command is going to get hit very hard. I've seen him throw at least 7 pitches 91-92 helmet high today.
  13. Legit smallest zone ever. Meanwhile the great Grudz makes the starting pitcher and catcher have to fight their own battles. Same crap he pulled last year. He is a horrible manager. As for Kopech, it's easy to see where the struggles with command have happened. When he stays on top, his command isn't bad and velocity around 96. When he tries to throw up in the zone, he gets under the ball and its way high and out of zone and velocity around 92-94.
  14. So this ump has the smallest zone ever
  15. And Rosales just hit a bomb off of him on 96 mph
  16. Looking better, but you can tell by his body language he gets rattled when squeezed
  17. Yep remember the slow gun from watching Giolito last year
  18. Looked way better last 3 batters
  19. Hopefully this gun is slow. If not, 96 has been his max so far.
  20. Kopech throwing high fastballs at 94. His mechanics look bad as he's getting under the pitches.
  21. Yeah this is awful
  22. Still just not impressed with his swing. He makes an insane amount of contact, but the contact is often weak.
  23. At least we can all agree that if they do trade for JBJ, KW will get the blame
  24. Freaking cannon
  25. Adley just killed one. Seems like he might have a monster junior year.
