  1. Ugh, real bad pitch selection on 0-2. Needs to start mixing in some curves
  2. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 02:15 AM) Like most pitchers, it's going to be heavily dependent on Giolito keeping his mechanics in check. If he can do that consistently, I think the Sox got a good one. If not..... Never really realized how much there is to his delivery.
  3. Anderson again shows why he's one of the worst in baseball against a slider.
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 12:56 AM) watched one of giolitos AAA outings 2-3 weeks ago and he was getting guys out almost exclusively with offspeed stuff. Tonight using his fastball. If he can consistently throw strikes with his fastball like this, his curve and change are good enough for him to easily be a #3 Yep it's very promising he's getting swings and misses on his fastball
  5. That was glorious by Yoan
  6. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 12:48 AM) Engel may be struggling with the bat but is playing a dynamite CF All statistical indicators are that Leury is better defensively
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 12:47 AM) Engel really isn't a MLB player unless he makes drastic, and I mean really drastic, strides at the plate. I don't get why people are penciling into the starting outfield next year over guys like Leury, Willy (who have actually shown flashes of being good MLB hitters), Cordell, etc. His defense is great but that means nothing if your OPS is in the .500s Well said
  8. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 12:44 AM) good lord...what a horrible AB Engle. Go up there with an idea at least... Kinda wish Leury was getting reps in CF and Delmonico in LF
  9. Thank god playing for one run. Ricky rules
  10. Giolito actually getting some swings and misses on fastball. Huge development
  11. Omar so bad at framing low pitches
  12. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 06:40 PM) Also based off almost nothing other then seeing a few games last season, I'm jumping on the Eierman bandwagon. He was my favorite player in the tournament last year. Reminded me of Tulo. I liked that he didn't seem overmatched by good pitching and had a lot of swagger. To me, he was a significantly better prospect than Burger

As I've said before, it's troubling that no non-Sox source has said anything positive about his ability to catch
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 02:37 AM) Do you still like him as a closer? Not at all, don't think his stuff will improve a lot out of the pen. I think Cease is the closer in two years
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 02:24 AM) I don't get why people are so impatient. He sucks, but it really is not an issue for us to try him as a reliever next year. It's not like we're trying to contend or we have a packed bullpen or anything. The risk is nonexistent. Worst case scenario, he sucks and we lose more games, and get a better pick. Honestly, I'm more frustrated with how poorly Moncada and Anderson played today than Fulmer. With that said, hopefully Giolito performs decently tomorrow. Not overly optimistic
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 03:19 AM) He doesn't have enough time on the books to make it a career yet. Give him a chance If he wasn't a high pick, he would probably be searching for another organization sooner rather than later
  17. Fulmer was someone at Vandy that never had the best command, but got away with lots of bad swings by opposition on pitches out of the zone due to his superior stuff.
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 03:01 AM) I like the Hayes discussion about Collins. Next year will be huge for him with an adjusted swing. Everyone should listen to south side Sox podcast with the baseball prospectus writer on it. Some good insight in Collins and others.
  19. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 03:00 AM) What happened to him? I don't recall any serious injuries he's suffered. Given the Sox decent success the last couple of years with pitching prospects in ml, I don't buy that they ruined his mechanics. May just come down to confidence....we rushed him up far too soon after being drafted and he got knocked around a good bit. Mechanics are way different than at Vandy
  20. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:59 AM) Ian Happ would look good in our system/in our lineup right now. Thank god for those two extra wins that prevented Sox from getting who they wanted
  21. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 02:53 AM) Whichever scout recommended Fulmer should be put on notice, if not fired now. he does not have major league quality stuff. He did at Vandy. Doesn't come close to resembling that guy now
  22. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:50 AM) keep throwing balls Carson, sure is working Hey, let him enjoy this. Never know if he ever makes it back to a big league mound
  23. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 02:48 AM) Yikes. Usually when you are one of the worst pitchers in AAA, it's not going to translate well at the majors unfortunately
  24. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 02:48 AM) He doesn't seem to have any command nor any true put away pitch that I am seeing. He is getting to some two strike counts but failure to locate is killing him. Not a single swing and miss
