I wonder why the change in interest in long-term relievers, as they apparently were in on Miller and then stopped. At some point, you wonder just how much the agents are using the Sox known flexibility to raise the bid for others.

I still think unloading Chatwood is to help them sign a high-priced reliever or 2nd baseman. If Yu or Heyward get traded, then that’s trouble.

Also where Hahn needs to sell him on using the resources for other upgrades next few years.

Yep one thing that he would have to do with Dodgers or Cubs is share the spotlight.

I got to experience the Sox in 2005, and nothing will ever top that. What I want now is for them to be relevant for my kids as they grow into their fandom years. Harper and/or Machado would be a great step.

Something to consider if they sign Harper prior to unloading guys.

agreed, get the initial bounce of PR while letting the prospects come up. Actually makes a ton of sense, as no sure thing you'll want him at his price tag in 5 years.

Yeah, that's not fair...Pax has had a team over .500 in the last 6 years In all honesty though, the Sox are just too irrelevant these days. When you have horrible attendance, horrible TV ratings and a horrible team....you're not exactly at the top of everyone's wish list. The unique situation exists this offseason in that Harper and Machado might not take the most money (like what usually happens) due to unusual circumstances (Harper wanting to play with Bryant, Manny being a Yanks fan)
