  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:54 AM) Please explain THIS market, which we heard was a seller's market due to all the teams still in contention in the AL. All I've heard for weeks is it's a buyers market.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:51 AM) Carson Fulmer. You know I love Fulmer but that would be too much for what, 20 innings of middle relief/set-up?
  3. Fwiw, in a much weaker Rangers system last year, Cordell was their 6th best prospect.
  4. Sorry if I missed it, but what is his back injury
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:39 AM) The scout in the text to Dan Hayes that ss2k linked to basically said they are the same player. Must be same Sox scout that said Rutherford can play CF. engel has never hit for avg or power in full minor league seasons. Cordell has
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 03:34 AM) There is something called groupthink that happens, and it absolutely happens here. Compare the threads discussing what we think should be the returns for players, and then compare the actual returns for players. The difference is ridiculous. I actually think Sox fans are pretty good when it comes to valuing their guys compared to other fan bases. But yes, we always expect too much. I'm still waiting for ERod to replace Basabe and Diaz and Candelario to replace Fleete and Rose
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:36 AM) Already played that game. If we traded Adam Engel for him, I'd be thrilled. Cordell is a much better prospect than engel
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:31 AM) He is the 8th best reliever by era of relievers who have thrown 30 innings or more. That is pretty damned valuable. He's done it all. High leverage, multiple innings, anything we've asked. No doubt he's been awesome this year. He also bailed out some of the starters in big spots. With that said, I think it was Jake that made a great point about how he's one or two bad appearances away from losing almost all value. I really think you are selling Cordell a bit short
  9. There are bigger name prospects in Brewers system like Gatewood or Harrison that would have been sexier acquisitions, but honestly Cordell has a far better chance of contributing in the majors.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:07 AM) Imagine saying "the White Sox will sign a guy to a minor league contract who will go on to be a top 10 reliever in the league. They will then trade him for Ryan Cordell." Oh, how glorious! If you take the name out of the guy they received and just listed the scouting reports we've seen by half a dozen writers and experts, we would have been content I believe. I don't mind getting possible contributors at the same position because down the road, the Sox will need trade chips also.
  11. Definitely a buyers market for relievers. FYI, Brinson just pulled. Brewers making moves?
  12. Thanks for yesterday

Wonder if Burger still ailing. Really bad game overall for him and Kanny tonight. Giolito and Hansen had nice games....rest of the prospects were yucky

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 02:12 AM) What does ur friend say about Collins swing? He was more concerned about defense to be honest
  15. fathom replied to flavum's topic in FutureSox Board
Great start for Giolito, Hansen looked strong according to friend
  16. We have plenty of his ceiling guys who are far away. Don't mind a guy who is closer to the show with a lower ceiling.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 01:04 AM) Part of me thinks Kenny just decided to move Swarzak to Milwaukee to piss off the Cubs. Thing is, consensus seems to be that a lot of scouts really like him. He's probably a better bet to contribute at the MLB level than a lot of the bigger name Brewers guys that forgot how to hit this year.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 01:31 AM) Wonder if Collins is feeling the long season at this point. Not an excuse, but it's new for him catching most days for months at a time. Friend is at the game. Says Collins looks awful behind the plate. Not good, he was a fan of his earlier in the year.
  19. I like him more than Tilson. Heck of a lasting image by Swarzak here
  20. I don't care if he chases first pitch, but at least have a plan and swing hard. He rarely hits anything with authority anymore
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 09:42 PM) New York is apparently in on the tank for us. Didn't you watch postseason last year? Pretty sure Ron Santo is the replay guy in NY
  22. Something that is ridiculous is the media will focus on Hawk's rant after the game instead of Lackey hitting more people than Addison Russell
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 09:22 PM) He is full tank You mean the setup man come aug 1st?
