Hahn again had a chance to temper the enthusiasm for Sox fans when it comes to the big guys, and he absolutely didn’t. That’s a positive sign if you want them to get Bryce/Manny. Oh, and every time I see him remark about you can’t control when players are available, it makes me think Manny is their main target

yep, no more in-between. Thought last offseason was extremely poor, as they didn't deal Avi/Abreu but didn't try to find significant pieces to flip (Soria was pretty mild). This offseason, it's either spend money and/or trade prospects for core players or unload those might not be around in 3 years when you're looking to contend (Abreu, Castillo, possibly Rodon).

That's a pretty great deal for the Indians

why wouldn't Bryce and Manny want the chance again to be a free agent when they're 29/30? Heyward was a similar age during his free agency and the Cubs providing the 3-year opt-out with heavy money upfront put them in the lead.

One of the biggest, if not the biggest, questions in this entire process is if the Sox will do early opt-outs.

I think any Abreu trade to the Dodgers only happens if they make a big deal for Kluber and/or Realmuto. As for it hindering the Sox chances to get Bryce/Manny, I'm sure having Abreu on or off the team is something they've planned for all offseason.

Buster Olney said on the radio today that he would bet his family farm that the Phillies sign one of Machado/Harper. Also, David Kaplan has changed his mind (shocker) and now thinks the Cubs will be in on the big names after he said a few weeks ago they wouldn't.

Do teams ever come out saying meetings went poorly? It’s like a recruiting visit update....of course it went well. I’m sure every other team that met with him thinks theirs went great also.
