  1. Twice now it looks like Flowers blocked the ump's view on a possible strike by popping up for a fake throw.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 12:44 AM) I still can't believe Houston didn't pick Rodon Miami's decision even worse, given the local connection to him.
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 12:43 AM) I think it's almost time to start Gordon at 2B more instead of Sanchez. +1 If you can't replace Alexei and his abysmal offense, you can't keep playing Sanchez as well. Just makes the lineup too weak. The gap between Beckham's offense to Sanchez's offense is significantly greater than Sanchez's defense to Beckham's defense.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 12:40 AM) All I can go by is what the Rangers' radio announcers are saying. Using logic now, it's obvious that the gun down there is off by 2-3 MPH. Because if the velocities were correct, it would be a red flag...like the start where Sale was maxing out at 87-90 MPH in Arlington. Up to 94 in the first
  5. Given Melky's struggles vs LHP and Bonifacio's struggles, I'd love to see the Sox try to trade Bonifacio for the recently-DFA'd Justin Ruggiano
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 12:34 AM) His route was straight back. Watched the replay, nothing terrible by Avi. More positioning than anything else. That was incredibly nasty by Rodon the last 3 batters.
  7. Umpire has a tiny zone...not the best scenario for Rodon
  8. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 12:29 AM) The defense is always really horrible whenever Rodon is pitching. Not fair. Samardzija and Q as well. In general, it's just been a bad defensive team, especially in plays not being called an error but should be made. I didn't see the leadoff double though.
  9. Well, another big first inning against the Sox. Same old, same old
  10. Was that 1-1 pitch a strike to Prince?
  11. Alexei is 165th out of 169 candidates in terms of WAR according to fangraphs. Melky is next to last.
  12. That's probably a home run last year for Alexei. Just doesn't have the bat speed he used to.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) Stone was talking about Jay yesterday hinting he could be a late season bullpen guy at the major league level before starting his journey to become a starter. Yep, and IIRC, he also said that he highly doubts he's still on the board when the Sox pick
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) I disagree. What's wrong with having 2 aces and a #2? All 3 of which are bargains for next 6 seasons. I'm not trading Q unless I get a ton in return. It would have had to be as the main piece in acquiring someone like Donaldson.
  15. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) 5 million is the number supposedly. Draft him and trade him for Konerko's kid in 10 years.
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) this is me, the whole Scott B presence has be jumpy, that is if he is Fulmer advisor and / or of Fulmer is there at #8 If the Sox were able to sign Rodon, they'll be able to sign Fulmer or any other Boras clients.
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) no one really knows that, esp if his advisor is Scott B. He'll sign, especially with the draft class being way better next season.
  18. Of all the players in the draft, Fulmer would be the dumbest to not sign (besides for college seniors). He had a fantastic year, and all the issues scouts have with him won't go away by staying another year in college.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:34 PM) No for rounds 4-10 he's saying will be the college seniors. Ah yes, which is ok with me. Rather try to get at least one impact, close to the majors talent as opposed to a few wild cards.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 04:24 PM) Nobody that they can realistically afford if they go slot at #8. Losing 2nd and 3rd round picks really hurts the draft allotment quite a bit. I'd start studying up on college seniors. For their first pick? I've heard nothing to suggest they'll have to go cheap with the 8th pick.
  21. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 3, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) As in an open workout or invite with a couple first rounders? Invite only generally, and I assume it's for high school players.
  22. Just my preference, but Avi would have been out of the game after his AB in the 8th. No reason to put him back on the field in a blowout.
  23. Too many steroid-era ERAs on the Sox.
  24. Time to give someone else a chance to do better than Noesi and Jennings
