  1. Allen threw about two strikes that inning, and he struck out the side. I really hope they give some of the young guys a chance next week.
  2. Cleto's been much better since returning from AAA. He seems to have better command of his slider than his fastball.
  3. The ceiling of the Cubs main prospects (Baez, Russell, Bryant, Soler) is significantly higher than anyone in the Sox organization outside of Abreu. The Sox future pitching seems to be much stronger than the Cubs, while the Cubs future hitting is significantly better than the White Sox. The key will be the team that is able to use their money to fill their weakness without giving out more bad contracts (ie: Dunn and Edwin Jackson).
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 03:06 AM) Wow just a pipe shot pitch there I mentioned it earlier in this thread, but he's swinging and missing on a ton of pitches. Of course this is basically Spring Training all over again for him, but he seems to have very little chance against RHP. He looks great vs LHP.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 02:23 AM) Well Jordan Lynch, good luck in all of your future endeavours Anything happen with him tonight?
  6. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 02:28 AM) Oh so they are doing pitch counts now? I heard they (from Cooper) don't do that but it must be in the early season when its anywhere from the 40-60s that those arms are exposed to higher pitch counts. There's absolutely no reason at this point in the season, given their record, to push the starters.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 02:22 AM) Belisario, you are special It's amazing to see a reliever in the non-steroid era stay on a roster all year with an ERA over 6.
  8. Since when do all these Indians pitchers throw so hard? Carrasco has hit 99 tonight. He's making Dunn look silly. Just like Beckham two weeks ago, Dunn is wasting at bats that could go to someone like Wilkins or Semien.
  9. Abreu's hit tool is so much better than expected
  10. Avi swinging and missing an awful lot
  11. Nice job by Ventura with the pen tonight.
  12. If there is one person in the pen that I trust to get an out in this situation, it's Putnam
  13. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 04:13 AM) ok going on record this is the wrong move. Guerra looked gassed. Lots of pitches for him last two days.
  14. Abreu made an incredible adjustment that AB
  15. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 02:29 AM) How in the f*** does that stand?! This league is such a f***ing joke Dumbest rule ever. I thought that was the right call, regardless of the rule.
  16. Both are gonna be good in a few years. Arrieta should be added to the list. One thing Cubs have done is put together a solid bullpen, thanks in part due to getting Ramirez and Strop in trades.
  17. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 02:12 AM) Wow, nice Take Avi. Way to show Viciedo how the f*** it's done. No clue how he took that pitch, but it was a great AB
  18. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 12:39 AM) Yea, but in his defense it's basically his spring training again. No amount of rehab or AAA was going to change the fact that it's better to get this rust shaken off now then next April. That's the big positive. I've been very happy with his production since he returned. Maybe he was just guessing wrong in that AB
  19. Some very awkward swings by Avi
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 08:49 PM) There's definitely a chance that Baez can be a complete bust but he's still ridiculously young too. Where I think Baez will be dangerous for the Cubs is that he projects to maybe be their 4th-6th best hitter. If you have guys like Rizzo and Bryant being OPS monsters, then having someone that you can rely on to hit 35 homers a year playing 2nd base could be very valuable.
  21. I think this season has been a nice building year for 2015 and there's no reason 2016 won't end up with the Sox contending. The biggest disappointments this year have been E. Johnson and Davidson going from core pieces to gigantic question marks, as well as the lack of non-core players performing well enough to bring back anything at the trade deadline. I will say that Rodon was the perfect draft pick for this team, given Sale and Abreu's peak years coming up.
  22. If the draft was held tonight, the Sox would be picking 8th (7th worst record, but Astros picking twice). The Twins choked that game away, or else the Sox would have been up to the 7th pick.
  23. Another loss...once again, all the RBIs by guys who should be back next year.
  24. Impressive by Cleto...might as well challenge him more the rest of the way.
  25. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 03:43 AM) JPINAC The way it's going, I'm not sure he can even be counted on as anything more than a long reliever next year. As I'm sure you can tell, I hate his offspeed stuff/lack of command.
