  1. Last week, the lineup was Abreu and Gillaspie and no one else with a long-term future with the Sox. Next week, we should see Abreu/Eaton/Avi/Gillaspie/Semien....that alone makes things more interesting.
  2. If anything, it saves the Sox a million dollars.
  3. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 09:43 PM) Now let's see Marcus the rest of the year, please, not Leury Garcia. I'd be stunned if it's not Semien or Sanchez
  4. Best of luck to Beckham. I hope he does well....and yet, not a single Sox fan should be mad at the organization if he succeeds elsewhere. He was given a ton of chances.
  5. It's a joke that Leury is still in the majors. There are so many bad players on this roster.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 01:13 AM) Nevada is tough. One of the better LLWS teams of the last 5 years
  7. The Cardinals just DL'd Mark Ellis. Maybe they'll want Beckham to back up Wong?
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 09:29 PM) Ok. That would be a caution. However, it doesn't seem to have caused any issues down the road as I don't think he has missed any other time because of his elbow. Agreed, but IIRC, some thought he was a ticking time bomb due to all the sliders he was throwing.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 10:23 PM) I don't believe he had any shoulder or arm issues. I could be wrong but the only one I remember is when they acquired him and he had an ankle issue that was resolved in an appropriate time. One injury not to his arm, that was resolved in an appropriate time is not a history of injury. He missed a month in 2008 with a sore elbow
  10. No shock that both Samardzija and Hammel are performing poorly (Hammel's been awful) for the A's. Still no idea what Beane was thinking giving up Russell for those guys, as Samardzija has a history of tailing off as the season drags on.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 05:50 PM) I worry about the hesitation I'm seeing this year, the total lack of moves even just to clear guys out. Last year we at least cleared some guys out to create roles for people or signings. That hasn't happened since training camp started and it should have. Considering Semien's track record of having to adjust to a new level before he starts to excel, it's frustrating he hasn't gotten more at bats this month with the big league team.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 04:06 PM) I said it in another thread, and I will say it again. Forget about the Sox spending free agent dollars on a starting pitcher. With the path they have Rodon on, he will be a SP for the White Sox next year. They may well bring in another reclamation project or two, but they will not spend 8 or 9 figures on an SP. Sale Quintana Danks Noesi Rodon. That is your very probable rotation for 2015. I agree, but the important thing is they bring in a swing man that can end up starting for them when someone gets hurt and/or needs a few starts skipped (ie: Rodon).
  13. There's a severe lack of power in the lineup you proposed. Also, as much as I love Rodon, I don't think he's ready for an entire year in the rotation yet. I think there's going to be more significant changes to the lineup this offseason. I do think the 1-2-3-4 in the lineup will be: Eaton Avi Gillaspie Abreu
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 02:35 AM) Nice AB GB. Wasting playing time for Semien
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 03:06 AM) Can Webb pitch without giving up a run? I have really soured on him going into 2015. Amazing how everyone counted on in the bullpen coming into the season has been a disappointment or hurt. Petricka and Putnam were afterthoughts heading into the year.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 02:00 AM) Worth asking...do we ever give him a game where he has any margin of error? Where every pitch doesn't potentially lose the game? So true, seems he never pitches where he can afford to give up a few runs and still be in good shape to win
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 01:49 AM) I have said this before the 6th inning is a killer to Q, all the time he hits a wall. He needs to be able to limit the damage. He's been hurt by the big inning, especially after cruising the whole game
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 01:47 AM) Orioles are a good team. Meanwhile, there are likely 5 guys in Sox lineup that will be replaced. Another game closer to a high pick.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 03:10 AM) Every game is a win. We either win or get closer to a great draft pick. Yep, and in losses, it's nice to see Abreu or Avi do well
