  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 04:20 AM) Hawk finally admits bullpen is s*** of course not anyone's fault and Hahn cannot do anything about it now. Tons of blame to go around for this bullpen. Hahn, the scouts, Cooper and especially, the veterans in the pen.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 05:15 AM) Webb is fun like a root canal Remember how he was supposedly throwing 99-100 in the minors?
  3. Flowers leading the world in passed balls and dropped plays at the plate.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:34 AM) His Cape Cod performance seemed to put everyone at ease re: wood bats. Could be a deal where the people who doubted his wood bat prowess were correct, it just took a while for sample sizes to bear that out Beckham has the same issue that Morel had in my opinion. Both can hit the ball well to the opposite field, but they lack the power to consistently get it over the right fielder's head or over the fence. Morel was the king of that...so many deep fly outs to right that just needed another 10-15 feet.
  5. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 04:04 AM) Why cant we bring up.chris beck too replace carroll or tommy hansen and really at this point who cares im tired of seeing scott carroll out there. Have you seen Beck's stats in the minors this year?
  6. In a lineup with so many lefties, Carroll had no chance tonight. Lefties have hit over .300 against him this year.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 04:01 AM) He's been less repulsive of late. I think unlike Beckham he does have hitting tools to work with. I wonder what he's like personally. Can he take to coaching? Surely they recommend he do what he did his last at bat; elevate, but go with the pitch more. You gotta admit ... when Tank is going bad, which is a lot, he truly is a wreck at the plate. But I agree. I wouldn't puke if sox brought him back. Just wish he'd improve. He provides a little bit of power, which has a chance to be a massive liability for the Sox next year.
  8. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 05:01 AM) I think Beckham back next year for final chance. no chance
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 04:57 AM) By the way people usually talk about Viciedo here, you wouldn't think he has 15 HRs this year. He's the one guy out of him, Beckham, ADA, Dunn and Leury that I would be fine with if they bring him back. I think there's going to be a lot of at bats available next year in the outfield and DH (especially if Avi leaves every game due to an injury)
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 04:54 AM) And he just struck out 3 times tonight I actually am interested to see if he can become a good #9 hitter (with Eaton being #1). It could create a lot of good hitting situations for not only Eaton, but Abreu and Avi (who should bat 2nd)
  11. Tank with the power stroke going! He loves the Mariners, it seems
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 04:50 AM) He's hitting .291 in Charlotte, he was just promoted earlier this year And his OPS is crashing towards .700 as he's 2 for his last 22. His walk rate is way down in AAA compared to AA (same thing that happened last year from A to AA).
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:46 AM) Not sure I agree with this. Yes he blew up in the top of the 7th, but through the first six innings he gave up one run on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk. That's incredible improvement from where's been at this season. No doubt it's an improvement, but he went from mowing down everyone the first two innings to getting into trouble in almost every inning after. Baby steps though!
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 04:47 AM) While I don't think Micah is ready yet, he certainly isn't as far away as some of you are saying... what makes you think he needs another full year? Given his history of taking a while to adjust to the level he gets promoted to. I honestly think getting him to master one level at a time is the smart plan.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:43 AM) Do all teams have pitchers like the Sox have had at the end of the rotation? Axelrod and now Carroll? So Soxtalk, doesn't watching Carroll make you long to grab a bat and take some hacks? My gosh he is awful (I do realize he's somehow had some good outings; I should say his stuff is awful). You can thank Erik Johnson for this
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:41 AM) Danks......Noesi......Carroll equal ass whipping 101 I keep hoping for a TON of roster turnover after this year, but the way things have progressed this year, 2015 is going to be another rebuilding year instead of a contending season. Just too many holes to try and fix them all in one offseason.
  17. Can't keep the ball in the park. Last 3 games have been Corpseball-esque
  18. Seth Lakso ‏@SethLakso Avi Garcia (1-for-4) took a pitch off his left index finger in his fourth AB. As of now the plan is still for him to start in RF tomorrow.
  19. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:34 AM) Beckham sucks we got better chance with micah Johnson up there to get run in Johnson's absolutely not ready
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:32 AM) We have good pieces in Putnam and Petricka. I expect us to sign Andrew Miller as well. They won't spend that much on Miller, which is probably good, or else we would get so sick of hearing the term "Nintendo Stuff"
  21. Truly believe Beckham is gone when the Sox get back next week. Nice to see the head case change up his swing again.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 04:47 AM) I wonder if Beckham just naturally sucks or if he's uncoachable. You never hear any rumors about Beckham. So is it a matter of lack of hitting ability, the fact he just can't see a baseball and drive a baseball, or is it that he won't listen to hitting coaches? A lot of first round picks flop, but you have to wonder about Beckham. Personally I've never liked his batting stance and the way he cocks his bat when going for a pitch. It's really sad but without the hype, he's really no better than Chris Getz. Early in his career, he would overthink everything. No idea what's going on with him now. I actually saw a chat a few weeks ago where a scout said he wasn't high on Beckham coming into the draft because they thought his batting approach would really be hurt having to use wood bats (more than most college players)
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 04:20 AM) Hard to string many wins together with the crappy 3-4-5 in this rotation. This team has a good 1B, SS, 3B, CF, #1 SP, #2 SP, Petricka....the rest is mediocre. If anything, it seems this team overachieved the first 3 months of the year.
  24. Holy cow, meatball city. The pitchers have given up some homers to some mediocre hitters of late.
  25. Sox have a good approach...take strikes, swing at balls
