Just to clarify, I wasn't bashing the decision to draft Hawkins. I was referring to the decision to promote him so aggressively after his debut season.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 02:07 AM) Who was drafted shortly after Hawkins that looks much better than him? The rumor was they were going to take Stroman, as they expected Hawkins to be drafted a few picks before them.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 02:01 AM) They did promote Jeremy Harber to assistant GM, an title he shares with Buddy Bell, but he comes from an analytics and financial background. I do want to want to see Bell replaced, he has done nothing for the system. The Hawkins decision alone should have gotten people fired. The organization had a string of toolsy outfielders and didn't come close to developing one. Every prospect that comes up looks unprepared to hit fastballs
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) The 5th best team in the league makes the playoffs too Playing two superb teams 18 times this year is gonna make it hard for three teams to come out of the AL Central
  6. Tigers with another shutout. 4.5 games behind them after 8 games. Can there be a mulligan on the start of this season?

Am I the only one who has given up on Davidson? It was a good trade idea, just poorly scouted.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 01:12 AM) Yet not many changes have been made. Still not sure how Buddy Bell hasn't been replaced yet. It's really amazing. I will give them credit for Crede and Carlos Lee.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 02:08 AM) That's been said for many years now. Yet not many changes have been made. Still not sure how Buddy Bell hasn't been replaced yet.
  10. Scary thought....if Tigers sweep the Sox this wknd, they would be 7.5 games in front of the Sox
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 12:47 AM) Speaking of old, s***ty ex-Cubs pitching for the Reds, Jason Marquis? Really? Cubs have faced some crappy pitchers so far

QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 12:50 AM) The Kanny lineup is pretty difficult to follow, there's a distinct dearth of position prospects on the current roster outside of Eddy Alvarez, Brett Austin and Mason Robbins and even those guys are fringy at best. Hopefully Hahn & co. take this year's draft to focus on drafting more position players with upside. There's just a shocking lack of offensive potential in the farm. The gap from Anderson to next best offensive prospect is huge. Thankfully the pitching depth is very good.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 09:54 PM) If this season is about contending and Danks is going 5 innings/4 runs every time(with Noesi outperforming him), then I think he would go long man or have a magical ailment that put him on the DL. They can't burn up the bullpen every fifth day Couldn't agree more. It would be great if Noesi pitches well in his next few starts in order to put the organization in position to remove Danks from the rotation.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Again to note...the bolded continues to be the short definition of the last 3 years of the Robin Ventura era. So far, this season has been the worst in terms of sloppiness. Even in the 3 games they've won, they played sloppy in those (especially in the last two wins). Ironically, Avi and Melky have been the most consistent fielders on this team.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) Maybe, or perhaps fans perception, especially White Sox fans who seem to store up frustration all winter to take out the first mistake of the season, is just wrong. I don't think Buddy Bell knows what he is doing myself, but I am damn sure if the White Sox sent him packing, he would find a job somewhere if he wanted. I don't know what everyone has against Brooks Boyer, but I go to the park as much as most, and I think it's a good time. And despite all the frothing at the mouth about Robin on here, I am pretty sure he is highly respected around baseball. To say Robin has cost this team wins this year is crazy. Today was the first game that I really think his poor choices made an impact on the outcome. With that said, if this team keeps executing as poorly as they have, I'm sure he'll be let go after the season.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) The best one by far was the time he had Alexei bunt and Alexei bunted into a triple play. Wasn't that in Cleveland as well very early in the season?
  17. In 850 at bats, Eaton's hit into 8 double plays during his career.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) Is DeAza still excelling with the O's? Why do players do so well when they LEAVE Chicago?? Rios had eight RBIs when he got hurt the other day, etc. Eaton needs to get his head out or he'll lose his leadoff spot. He isn't hitting. No one is besides Avi and the catchers
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) 4 AB. As for Eaton, you can blame Robin all you want, but the fact remains, he should be able to get a bunt down. But he hasn't been able to do so at all this year. There were games this spring where he tried bunting in consecutive at bats, and the announcers were laughing at how unsuccessful he was. If Eaton's going to be treated as an NL pitcher, then this team is really going to suck.
  20. The thing is, Ventura's approach to trying to get Abreu a chance to tie the game makes it more likely for the opposition to pitch around him if Cabrera doesn't deliver.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 08:41 PM) You had the L/L match up with Chisenhall who has been pretty brutal vs LHP in his career. If that backfired, Robin would have been skewered. Chisenhall has done well vs Danks in his career, and you have a minor league catcher up next.
  22. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 08:37 PM) Pitching to Chisenhall with open base, letting LaRoche bat in the 8th vs LHP and having Eaton bunt with 2 strikes are decisions that are pretty indefensible. This sucks
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) I guess Robin did have the bunt on with 2 strikes. I don't agree with it, but Eaton is hitting .120. Then put Avi in if you're so concerned about Eaton's ability to hit.
  24. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) There you have it, RV is f***ing clueless @CSNHayes: Adam Eaton was asked to bunt w/ 2 strikes. Ventura wanted Cabrera, Abreu up with men on 2nd and 3rd. Said needs to get bunt down. Yep, cause Eaton's such a threat to hit into a double play. It's sickening that Ventura has so much job security.
  25. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 07:13 PM) How about we play to our players' strengths? WE ALL KNOW EATON SUCKS AT SAC BUNTS. Does the Manager? I must of watched Eaton try to bunt 20 times during ST games, and it seems he fouled off every single attempt.
