  1. This bullpen is absolutely awful. Surkamp isn't even close to throwing a strike with his offspeed pitch. He belongs in the Paulino group for absolutely ridiculous expectations on here coming into the season.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 03:45 AM) Walk Suzuki Not the best of games for the coaching staff
  3. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 02:02 AM) Johnson walked 3 guys in the 4th. Just shut him down already. Of late, he's been starting strong and then just hitting the wall. Maybe try him as a reliever to gain some confidence?
  4. Matt Davidson swinging the invisible bat again.
  5. I can't remember the last time Sale looked this bad.
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 02:25 AM) He is to busy giving interviews saying the whole team is staying as is. It's more Ventura has to go out there to give his bench/replay coach time to watch the video.
  7. He barely touched 2nd, if at all, on Alexei's grounder as well
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 02:22 AM) That's real close in terms of having control of it in his glove. Ugh, should have been reviewed, as he was safe
  9. That's real close in terms of having control of it in his glove.
  10. Offense in the system has been quiet tonight.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 01:16 AM) If Beckham threw home there would be a man on first one out and the score would be the same. But why back up on the ball when the infield is in?
  12. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 02:14 AM) worst inning for sale this season, not much command. lots of hard-hit balls. And 2 bad defensive plays and a brain fart by Beckham.
  13. Wow, quite the meltdown for Sale. He keeps overthrowing everything tonight, and has no command. All this after what should have been a double play and no runs scored in the inning.
  14. Well, what should have been a double play has led to a big inning for Twins. Sale is overthrowing big time tonight. Gillaspie not showing much range.
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 01:04 AM) Come on Alexi get in front of the ball. Costing the Sox a lot of runs
  16. Alexei's defense hasn't been very good of late.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 11:50 PM) I'd be curious to see what details he has here? Teams? Player? Could this be revisited in the off season? Jason Castro comes to mind
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 09:22 PM) Dayan getting a much-needed day off. He needs to clear his head and perhaps take one last shot at nuking his swing and/or approach at the plate and trying something new. Maybe Sierra continues pushing for more playing time as well. Would have rather that day off come tomorrow instead of against a LHP, especially given how awful ADA has been against LHP this year.
  19. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 03:17 PM) I'm disappointed that Hahn didn't pull some magical s*** out of a hat, but I'm not surprised at all. We didn't have anything good to sell except Alexei, and there aren't any contenders that need a SS. If there's something to be disappointed about, it's that all of the guys that could have been good pieces had horrible seasons. But it's not all bad -- we do have good players, after all, it's just that we've done a good job at locking them up contractually so that they AREN'T trade bait. I forget which podcast I was listening to, but the speaker was making an argument that it was a very weak buyer's market by listing the types of guys that were realistically available, team by team. When he got to the White Sox, he said, "You can have any White Sock (sic) you want -- except the good ones." And I think there's a lot of truth in that. This is all that needs to be said. One thing Theo has had great success with the last few years is getting guys on short-term contracts that played great the first half of the year, and then he turned around and traded them for some strong packages. Unfortunately, Paulino/Downs/Belisario have been busts.
