QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 03:47 AM) I wouldn't narrow it down to LF. I think the non-Eaton places in the OF, and it's looking more like it would be hard to displace Eaton as CF, are fair game and we'll actively pursue new options there. If next year is "the" year, I'm not just handing that position to Avisail. He looked inferior defensively to Dayan and he has a lot left to prove at the plate. I want him to get his shot, but I wouldn't move heaven and earth to do it. Avi seems to be one of their 4 core players going forward with Sale, Q and Abreu. They'll give him every chance to become a solid major leaguer. I'd actually prefer they make him a LF.

Webb doing himself no favors tonight. His command has been very disappointing this year.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 03:45 AM) You act like the rest of the league doesn't bat in the PCL either. .381/.456/.539 163 wRC+ (a league-adjusted stat!!) in AAA last season .302/.409/.429 133 wRC+ in AA .332/.455/.492 152 wRC+ in A+ .381/.496/.571 182 wRC+ in R He's dominated every single level he's been at up to this point. His "bad" in MLB looks like 80 wRC+ with a big added value on D that leaves him at least as a solid regular. He struggled coming off the second DL trip of his career and I'm really not that worried about whether he'll kick ass like he has done everywhere else. As far as Davidson goes, you need to realize that him playing bad right now has nothing to do with the legitimacy or even lack thereof of his PCL numbers. His "worst" league-adjusted professional season to date involved him hitting 20 HR and driving in 107 RBI. His struggles in Charlotte are not some poor translation of PCL stats. It's something extraneous. Maybe he's got something personal going on, maybe the coaching staff has him working on something asinine, maybe he's hurt, maybe he's mentally weak. We've already seen the kid hit well in MLB last year and he even capped it off with a great ST this year. I'm guessing he was hit with tremendous disappointment at his demotion and it has gotten him into a funk that he needs help getting out of. Release yourself from the "worst case scenario is the reality" mindset. Good call on Eaton being great on defense...which he has been. However, I still believe if he's your best hitting outfielder, then that's a very bad hitting outfield. As for Davidson, his AAA numbers this year are extremely scary. Not sure what happened to him, but he's basically been one of the worst hitters in the IL since the second series of the season.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 03:44 AM) Rick Hahn knows full well that, as part of the reshaping of the ball club, he'll have to make changes at both catcher and in left. That may or may not happen this season, but it's coming. +1 I said this yesterday, but LF, C and a SP slot seem to be the places where there's no one locked in for the future.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 02:39 AM) Tyler Flowers 2 for his last 37, with 19 strikeouts Has he even hit anything hard besides those 2 hits (both homers)
-
2 for 23 with 15 strikeouts this month for Flowers

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 02:31 AM) I don't. Can't win when you don't score. It was a toss up on rather to walk Cabrera or not.. Don't think RV did anything wrong tonight unless he is the one that gave the game plan to the hitters. Yeah, it's not the easiest call in the world to walk Cabrera, I fully understand that. Like you said, this is on the offense tonight.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 02:30 AM) The "batted .350/.450 in the minors and is just starting out in the majors" stage? Sure. Luckily, he's a fantastic defender, which I didn't expect when we got him. PCL numbers mean nothing to me....ie- Matt Davidson

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 02:29 AM) I'd honestly rather face Miggy than Victor right now. I wouldn't walk either to get to the other. There's no one on the planet I'd rather not see up in that situation than Miguel Cabrera. I'd rather they face Trout or VMart or Francoeur
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 03:28 AM) Why? Cause he's a mediocre hitter at this stage of his career.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 03:27 AM) Why not walk Miggy I do not understand RV? Cause he's no Giambi
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 03:27 AM) f***, so sale gets the L Good thing the Sox shifted their rotation around. It worked so well in 2012 also.
-
Why do we always challenge Cabrera with an open base? Just freaking stupid. Dumb defensive play by a terrible 2nd baseman
-
Rare strikeouts by Kinsler in big spots of late.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 02:23 AM) They both are terrible for everyday players. It's not good when Eaton's your best outfielder
-
Could Gillaspie have waited back on that to get the force at 3rd?
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 02:16 AM) I feel a bullpen implosion ugh
-
Petricka seems to have warmed up every game for the last two weeks
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 02:16 AM) He's not good. Not a part of the future division-winning White Sox. Lefty hitting left fielder should be something Hahn goes after this offseason.
-
Viciedo's average now down 63 points over the last month. This is one awful outfield the Sox have.
-
Lots of guessing at the plate tonight by Sox hitters
-
Davidson 0-3, 2K and DP. It's stunning how bad him and E. Johnson have been. Save the system Rodon!
-
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 12:59 AM) Man EJ is a mystery. Sucks we couldn't count on him this year. It's not for just this year. Something is going to have to change before he has a prayer of pitching in the majors again.
-
Viciedo got a meatball, and continues hit fall towards the lower 200s.
-
They have to get Nieto more at bats. Flowers is so overmatched.
