Finding a LH/Switch hitting OFer
QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 25, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) I can't imagine the Sox having added a big name player in July. I think Ackley does make sense as that player. Viciedo for Ackley at the deadline? That type of offer would have made sense.

Paul Konerko Appreciation Thread
To me, PK's grand slam in Game 2 of the WS is the most excited I've ever been watching a sporting event. I'm happy PK is getting the recognition he deserves this weekend.

Finding a LH/Switch hitting OFer
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 25, 2014 -> 02:00 AM) FYI, two players Rick and co. have big board eyes on are Ackley (LF) & Butler (DH). Maybe Ackley is the guy Hahn mentioned they were close to getting at the deadline? Personally, I don't think these two are much better than what ADA and Dunn were

The opposing teams have been stealing signs against our bullpen all year!!

Lindstrom has been horrible since he returned. Hopefully he's not brought back.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 24, 2014 -> 07:10 PM) It looked intentional, but the game circumstances don't lend itself to that. Unless you just assume Sale doesn't give a f*** if they win this game or not. Well, if the two had words in VMart's previous AB, then it surely would seem intentional.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 24, 2014 -> 07:06 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 4m We now know who Sale tipped his hat to earlier in the game. He thought pitches were being stolen/tipped apparently Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 3m Martinez stared at Sale all the way down the line. He said something to Sale. Sale answered and he pointed with his glove to CF ....I have no idea what is goin on right now Would this have led to Sale hitting VMart on purpose? I didn't see the HBP.

Sept 23 game thread vs Detroit
Semien's defense has been garbage this year

Sept 23 game thread vs Detroit
6-65 for Wilkins and Phegley since they were called up. Fits right in line with the typical Sox minor leaguer that gets called up. I do wonder if the short dimensions in Charlotte will end up hurting the development of the hitters and pitchers.

Yikes, that's a fumble. Cutler looks rattled tonight.

Seems like just a matter of time before Cutler throws a pick. That's about 4 or 5 that almost got picked.

Bears might be in trouble tonight. Not getting that 3rd touchdown near the goal line hurts.

2015 Pen thoughts
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2014 -> 09:31 PM) I see Pertricka, Putnam, Guerra, and Surkamp back in 2015. I see Lindstrom and Bellisario out of the organization. Good thread, and I agree with what you said here. However, I fully expect the Sox to spend a good amount of money on a closer and set-up man.

Avisail Garcia's Flaws
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 03:57 PM) This is false, unfortunately. Both Pitch F/X and BIS show him with a substantially above average O-Swing% this year, which the the percentage of out-of-the-zone pitches he swings at. Sorry, I meant the last few weeks it seems he's not chasing pitches as much. When he returned from the injury, his timing was so off he was swinging at everything. Are there stats to show his swing percentage by month?

Avisail Garcia's Flaws
I still think Avi should be used as a trade chip if there is a team out there that projects him as a future star. I've watched all of his at bats closely this year, and it's amazing how much he struggles to square up any pitch over 90 mph. I'm not sure if it's due to the labrum injury, but he's going down the same path as other previous Sox youngsters like Josh Fields. I've been impressed by his ability to work the count, as he's not chasing a lot of pitches out of the zone.

Reds as Trade Partners
It would make no sense for the Sox to trade for Cueto with him being a FA after 2015. He's going to be seeking something in the range of 25 mil per year. I've heard Boston is a possible spot for him, which would make sense as they have a ton of money/prospects to use to acquire players.

Addison Reed trade from DBacks' perspective
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 10:25 PM) I don't think it's so much that people are upset about calling it a bad trade but are more upset or agitated that you aren't acknowledging the intent behind the trade. The intent was good, but thus far the trade has been bad. It's similar to trading Sergio Santos to Toronto. Neither has worked out for the Sox, but it's not a bad process. You are essentially gambling that a prospect who will play 2-4 times as often as a reliever will pan out versus a solid but not spectacular reliever who has a limited ceiling. The Reed trade was significantly better on paper than the Santos one.

Reds as Trade Partners
IIRC, Leake was someone the Sox were supposedly interested this past offseason

QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 02:14 AM) Yup, it was Robins fault that ball fell in the bermuada triangle. Awful defense has been so prominent the last two years for the Sox. They have changed a lot of the personnel, and it's still awful.
