  1. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 10:23 PM) I don't believe he had any shoulder or arm issues. I could be wrong but the only one I remember is when they acquired him and he had an ankle issue that was resolved in an appropriate time. One injury not to his arm, that was resolved in an appropriate time is not a history of injury. He missed a month in 2008 with a sore elbow
  2. No shock that both Samardzija and Hammel are performing poorly (Hammel's been awful) for the A's. Still no idea what Beane was thinking giving up Russell for those guys, as Samardzija has a history of tailing off as the season drags on.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 05:50 PM) I worry about the hesitation I'm seeing this year, the total lack of moves even just to clear guys out. Last year we at least cleared some guys out to create roles for people or signings. That hasn't happened since training camp started and it should have. Considering Semien's track record of having to adjust to a new level before he starts to excel, it's frustrating he hasn't gotten more at bats this month with the big league team.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 04:06 PM) I said it in another thread, and I will say it again. Forget about the Sox spending free agent dollars on a starting pitcher. With the path they have Rodon on, he will be a SP for the White Sox next year. They may well bring in another reclamation project or two, but they will not spend 8 or 9 figures on an SP. Sale Quintana Danks Noesi Rodon. That is your very probable rotation for 2015. I agree, but the important thing is they bring in a swing man that can end up starting for them when someone gets hurt and/or needs a few starts skipped (ie: Rodon).
  5. There's a severe lack of power in the lineup you proposed. Also, as much as I love Rodon, I don't think he's ready for an entire year in the rotation yet. I think there's going to be more significant changes to the lineup this offseason. I do think the 1-2-3-4 in the lineup will be: Eaton Avi Gillaspie Abreu
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 02:35 AM) Nice AB GB. Wasting playing time for Semien
  7. Some pretty loud booing towards Dunn
  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 03:06 AM) Can Webb pitch without giving up a run? I have really soured on him going into 2015. Amazing how everyone counted on in the bullpen coming into the season has been a disappointment or hurt. Petricka and Putnam were afterthoughts heading into the year.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 02:00 AM) Worth asking...do we ever give him a game where he has any margin of error? Where every pitch doesn't potentially lose the game? So true, seems he never pitches where he can afford to give up a few runs and still be in good shape to win
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 01:49 AM) I have said this before the 6th inning is a killer to Q, all the time he hits a wall. He needs to be able to limit the damage. He's been hurt by the big inning, especially after cruising the whole game
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 01:47 AM) Orioles are a good team. Meanwhile, there are likely 5 guys in Sox lineup that will be replaced. Another game closer to a high pick.
  12. We still see this way too much with Q.
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 03:10 AM) Every game is a win. We either win or get closer to a great draft pick. Yep, and in losses, it's nice to see Abreu or Avi do well
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 02:55 AM) I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Lindstrom wasn't ready to come back. But far be it from me to question the top-shelf talent evaluators in the Sox system. Definitely rushed him for trade reasons. To my eyes, it looks like he has changed his mechanics a bit, which has caused everything to flatten out
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 03:50 AM) Cleto is at least fun to watch. Young, fastball reaches triple digits, and is unpredictable to watch pitch. At least there is some potential there. Most of these other guys will be out of baseball in two years
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 03:49 AM) Ventura certainly has a feel for a bullpen. Who could have thought that pitching Surkamp 4 days in a row could backfire. Hahn flat out busted in his FA acquisitions for the pen this year
  17. Lindstrom is absolutely awful now. No idea why they keep using him in close games. Also, I'm ready for Snodgress to get a chance over Surkamp.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 02:24 AM) Typical De Aza baserunning. Instead of paying attention to the play, he was turned around and back on 3B. Tough play though, you have to be certain you can score
  19. This pitch count is insane.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 01:25 AM) Everyone in the Knights lineup has at least one hit tonight. That lineup is fun to keep an eye on and this is with Phegley and Micah out of it. Wilkins deserves at bats once 9-1 comes around
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 02:21 AM) That was a great play by Abreu. He really does have nice hands. Isn't it amazing how much he's improved defensively since the first two weeks or so?
  22. Abreu is having such a hard time hitting the ball in the air. He's only hit a few in the air over the last week.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 08:07 PM) The last time you were this in love with a Cubs pitcher was Travis Wood I don't think Hendricks is good, I'm more making fun of the media. And yes, I still nailed my prediction that Wood would be better than Nestor Molina.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 12:23 AM) Greg Maddux threw in the low 90's in the most dominant part of his career. Another Maddux-esque start for Cy Hendricks
