8/7 Games
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:46 AM) Not sure I agree with this. Yes he blew up in the top of the 7th, but through the first six innings he gave up one run on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk. That's incredible improvement from where's been at this season. No doubt it's an improvement, but he went from mowing down everyone the first two innings to getting into trouble in almost every inning after. Baby steps though!

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 04:47 AM) While I don't think Micah is ready yet, he certainly isn't as far away as some of you are saying... what makes you think he needs another full year? Given his history of taking a while to adjust to the level he gets promoted to. I honestly think getting him to master one level at a time is the smart plan.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:43 AM) Do all teams have pitchers like the Sox have had at the end of the rotation? Axelrod and now Carroll? So Soxtalk, doesn't watching Carroll make you long to grab a bat and take some hacks? My gosh he is awful (I do realize he's somehow had some good outings; I should say his stuff is awful). You can thank Erik Johnson for this

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:41 AM) Danks......Noesi......Carroll equal ass whipping 101 I keep hoping for a TON of roster turnover after this year, but the way things have progressed this year, 2015 is going to be another rebuilding year instead of a contending season. Just too many holes to try and fix them all in one offseason.

Can't keep the ball in the park. Last 3 games have been Corpseball-esque

Seth Lakso @SethLakso Avi Garcia (1-for-4) took a pitch off his left index finger in his fourth AB. As of now the plan is still for him to start in RF tomorrow.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:32 AM) We have good pieces in Putnam and Petricka. I expect us to sign Andrew Miller as well. They won't spend that much on Miller, which is probably good, or else we would get so sick of hearing the term "Nintendo Stuff"

Truly believe Beckham is gone when the Sox get back next week. Nice to see the head case change up his swing again.

Sox willing to deal Beckham in "right deal now"
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 04:47 AM) I wonder if Beckham just naturally sucks or if he's uncoachable. You never hear any rumors about Beckham. So is it a matter of lack of hitting ability, the fact he just can't see a baseball and drive a baseball, or is it that he won't listen to hitting coaches? A lot of first round picks flop, but you have to wonder about Beckham. Personally I've never liked his batting stance and the way he cocks his bat when going for a pitch. It's really sad but without the hype, he's really no better than Chris Getz. Early in his career, he would overthink everything. No idea what's going on with him now. I actually saw a chat a few weeks ago where a scout said he wasn't high on Beckham coming into the draft because they thought his batting approach would really be hurt having to use wood bats (more than most college players)

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 04:20 AM) Hard to string many wins together with the crappy 3-4-5 in this rotation. This team has a good 1B, SS, 3B, CF, #1 SP, #2 SP, Petricka....the rest is mediocre. If anything, it seems this team overachieved the first 3 months of the year.

Holy cow, meatball city. The pitchers have given up some homers to some mediocre hitters of late.

Sox have a good approach...take strikes, swing at balls

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 02:51 AM) But he is a great defender just in a slump! He should be a keystone with Alexei In 4 years, he's going to be announcing games on the SEC Network

Hell of a leadoff hitter. The tanking is in full force, with Leury taking on Axelrod's role from last year.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 02:47 AM) on a 3-1 count Flowers swung at a ball way out of the zone and then on a 3-2 stares at a fastball down the middle of the plate.. And Conor struck out right before that on a pitch a foot off the plate.

wow, Sierra didn't swing in that AB. Maybe this team just misses Avi in the dugout, as the slump seems to coincide with him going to Charlotte.

Blowing a bubble like that just before you're about to get hit at 2nd base seems quite dangerous.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:33 AM) Last pitch could've gone either way, Tyler should've swung It was him guessing wrong again, as it was a fastball right down the plate.

QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:33 AM) I still dont understand the reasoning for continuing to play Gordon. He's gone after this year. Its just wasting everyone's time right now. I'd much rather give Semien the ABs to hopefully let him adjust to MLB pitching so he's ready to go in 2015. Right now, this is a team that looks like they can't wait for the season to be over.

Chicago and Seattle Tonight
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 02:28 AM) I've been thinking that there is no reason to call Semien up early, just let Beckham finish the year, maybe something good happens, Semien can use some more AAA bats. With the way this is going, I'm starting to change course. Just might be time to DFA him and let Semien play everyday. It's not even about winning this year, it's just getting ugly. Someone should be getting the at bats at 2nd besides Beckham or Leury Garcia. Right now, they're just throwing away at bats to players that have no future in this organization and won't get anything back in deals.

Hawk basically saying Viciedo isn't listening to the hitting coach anymore. Paciorek said he's someone you wouldn't want to give up too soon on, and Hawk didn't respond.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:21 AM) So, how is everyone enjoying rebuilding? The rebuilding this year was supposed to be with Erik Johnson pitching, but he forgot how to throw a fastball over 90 mph. What you're seeing on the field right now is less rebuilding, and more just a roster with few impact players. After this road trip, I'm confident there will be some significant changes made.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:14 AM) Abreu slowing down a bit Pre ASB, he hit 29 homers on 240 balls put in play Post ASB, he's hit 2 homers on 54 balls put in play

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 03:19 AM) 1-0 SEA Very little energy with the Sox right now. They also can't keep the ball in the park when pitching.
