GT: 8/21 Spoiler Alert Pt. 2
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 01:53 AM) I'll get s*** for this but Rios would have been half way down the line when Hosmer caught that. Very nice Avisail. True, but Avi gets out of the box very well, and I would say Rios always struggled to get out of the box well due to his swing.

GT: 8/21 Spoiler Alert Pt. 2
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 01:52 AM) I think there is a definitely a chance we bring someone new in. I for one want a real defender in CF. I wouldn't want to get stuck with another year of Viciedo sucking. He has to be on a leash if he's starting for us. Where's Granderson going to play?

GT: 8/21 Spoiler Alert Pt. 2
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 02:34 AM) Any thoughts as to what the chances are we go into 2014 with an outfield of Viciedo-De Aza-Garcia? I would be surprised if it's not that

2014 Draft class
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 02:19 AM) I'm more worried about falling out of the top 3 then getting number 2 at this point. Me too, Cubs are getting closer. Sox have a tough schedule the rest of the way at least.

GT: 8/20. Spoiler alert in KC
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 03:02 AM) Really nice to see Danksy look like his old self. This pitching staff is scary good if Danks is back to there. Hard to get upset with a win when Danks pitches this well and Beckham/Garcia look good

GT: 8/20. Spoiler alert in KC
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 02:13 AM) Nobody wants to say it, but Phegley sucks. I hate his swing. He looks way better vs LHP...probably cause they can't throw that slider low and outside to him that he loves to swing at.

Any reason to get excited about A. Lopez?

2014 Draft class
Astros have played too "well" for the Sox to catch them. It's game on vs the Marlins to see who gets the 2nd spot. It's definitely a weird feeling hoping the Cubs win.

2014 Draft class
I've seen some experts discuss that Jacob Gatewood has not had an impressive summer and is unlikely to be a top 5 pick now. Seems like it's Rodon and Hoffman as the top 2 picks as of now.

QUOTE (daggins @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 11:40 PM) This may not be terrible popular but... Mark Trumbo? The Angels need good young pitching, we need good young hitting, we have an open spot at 1B... I mean yeah he has a .300 OBP but he also mashes 30 taters a year in a much more RH-neutral home park. Santiago for Trumbo? I'd do it. Yes please

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 08:22 PM) That's an abjectly awful idea and you know it. Take a look for a second at how bad Headley's really been this year. Gillaspie has hit more home runs than him. His 99 RC+ is basically league average. I'd 100% rather put Gillaspie and Keppinger out there again next year than give up something of value for Headley. Quintana's price ought to be through the roof. That concept is a joke. Lindstrom for Headley makes more sense. I agree it would be an awful deal, but it is one of the few teams with a corner infielder that will likely be on the market that is also desperate for pitching. And looking back, I meant to write Santiago and not Quintana (as I had said earlier in the thread that Hector was more likely to get moved, IMO). I would still hate that trade though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 07:16 PM) I've been trying to come up with a guess as to a 3rd baseman who would work for both sides in such a deal but I've been struggling. Any ideas? (focusing on 3b with the assumption the Sox will go hard after Abreu to fill their 1b hole and will not want to trade for a young catcher with what they currently have on their roster). Quintana for Headley. I wouldn't like it, especially given Headley's pending free agency. However, the Padres are desperate for pitching and Sox are desperate for corner infielders.

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) I could see a Santiago/Quintana trade to LAA for Bourjos +. I'd much rather see Santiago dealt for a power corner infielder. And yes, I think Hector is far more likely to get traded than Quintana.

http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130819 E. Johnson overcame a lot of runners early to have a fantastic start. Also, Nathaniel Stoltz was at the Kanny game tonight, so we'll likely see his opinion on Montas tomorrow.

Garcia in Center?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 01:40 AM) Yeah, I don't think things like this actually happen. I think the Sox are probably going to hold onto De Aza for at least another year, but they're not keeping him in CF just to "Showcase him". At the very least if they were doing that, they wouldn't keep moving him to LF every time Danks comes into the game. I'm not saying I think that's what is happening, but I do think it's weird they moved Garcia from CF to RF so early after nothing bad happened with him out there.

Garcia in Center?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 11:32 PM) I'm wondering if they just don't want to make that change mid-season and might give it a shot in the spring Or if they're showcasing De Aza in CF for the rest of the year with the thought process he'll be traded this offseason?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 12:28 AM) If Phegley has that low of a ceiling then I still don't know how he was able to destroy charlotte and I don't know why everyone was so desperate to call him up as the next hero. Because no one wanted to watch Tyler Flowers play 5 games a week anymore And speaking of Abreu, I saw where the Pirates have been rumored to be interested in him (mlbtraderumors). If the White Sox don't get him, I hope it's Pittsburgh that gets him.
