  1. The way Hawk was talking, it sure seemed like it was someone who's still active in baseball.
  2. Is Swisher the guy that Hawk is talking about being someone that wasn't a great guy?
  3. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 01:50 AM) Anyone else really enjoy watching Rienzo battle? His mannerisms are hilarious
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 01:13 AM) "@CST_soxvan: Not sure why. Beckham appeared to wince somewhat after a slide into third in first inning but ... Before game, he said his hand was fine." Yep, I saw him appear to tweak something after his first inning slide as well. He wasn't running very well in his 2nd AB.
  5. Did they say it was his hand?
  6. Hawk going off on De Aza's base running. He also said he expects Beckham to be the captain of the team in 2-3 years.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 08:03 PM) It's tough for me now. I don't want them to win. I want the 3rd pick in June minimum. They can't f*** up this fantastic opportunity by falling down to the 5-8 range draft pick wise. Ideally, Garcia and Beckham will do well, Dunn will hit bombs, Starting pitchers pitch well, and then Axelrod blows the game. That's my ideal scenario right now. God that sounds horrible. Ha, we are in 100% agreement. I would add Phegley and Viciedo to the group I hope succeeds in a game. I find myself rooting hard for the Marlins and Astros of late as well.
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 07:18 PM) Geez, more left handed hitting outfielders! Of course they want him, he played football in college.
  9. Semien with another clutch homer!
  10. Not a lot of offense of late.
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 01:32 AM) GREATEST FIELDER EVA! Just keep holding out hope like I am that the salary dump will end up with the Sox signing Abreu.
  12. 2 errors for Garcia already.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) As a fan, I can't write off seasons. I can't write off any game. Going .500 would mean ALOT more happy summer days for me. It's not an occasional win. Now, after the season? I'm not thrilled with .500, but like I said, I'd rather go .500 than get the No. 1 pick in the draft. That would probably mean my team sniffed the playoffs at least and I had an interesting summer following baseball. Who cares about the draft? It's an inexact science. They aren't going to suddenly say we can't have a first-round pick. Give me a first-round pick and I'm good with that. The Sox are 26 games under .500!
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 09:06 PM) Somehow I sincerely doubt the Angels ever had a clue that he'd be this good. I believe I read where the Yankees LOVED him but he didn't fall to them like they had hoped. There were also rumors about Trout having huge signing bonus demands.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 09:04 PM) I never saw a single person complain when he went. Literally the only comment on the trout pick in the draft thread was "well the Angels sure like outfielders, don't they"? There were no "Nuts, darn, drat, I wanted him!" posts. A lot of us actually didn't want the Sox to take him due to the comparisons he was getting at the time to Rowand.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 08:57 PM) A lot of Soxtalk actually wanted the SOX to take Trout instead of Mitchell with that pick. Also... There's a big difference between the 3rd pick and 21st pick. These also a big difference between the third pick and the first pick. And that's not taking into account that the earlier your pick is, the more spending money you get in the draft/international signings.
  17. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 09:52 PM) Yeah just like the 2009 draft. We take Jared Mitchell at 21, Angels take Mike Trout at 23. So what you're saying is that at least we had a chance to take Trout?
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 09:48 PM) Soxtalk ... where people inexplicably care about the crapshoot called the baseball draft. You may think I'm crazy. But I'd rather finish .500 than get the No. 2 pick in the draft. I.Don't.Care. You're right, this team clearly doesn't need more talent brought into the organization.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 04:45 AM) Anything off Bonderman would be nice. Still don't like that tool. Since when has he thrown 96?
  20. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 04:31 AM) Detroit announcers questioning why Danks was asked to bunt against a 100 mph average fastball. Pitcher just elevated the pitch. Also questioning why Sox bringing in a cold pinch hitter for Phegley who has already gotten a hit. I really wish they'd give Phegley the experience of hitting in these situations.
  21. That was one of the longest balls Keppinger has hit this year
  22. I'm all for losing for draft position, but I'll gladly accept a Garcia walkoff
  23. Poor Rienzo, they changed that error on Alexei to a hit in his debut and his ERA jumped 1.5 points.
  24. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 04:09 AM) Does Detroit really think this bullpen is good enough in the dog days of the playoffs? I can already see the combo of Veras/Benoit blowing games in the playoffs. I bet they'll use Smyly a ton, as he's been one of the better relievers in baseball this year.
