  1. QUOTE (staxx @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 02:18 AM) Good, I need some fantasy points to make up for the unlikely scenario I get a W from him due to our offense. Well, there goes that

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 02:14 AM) I hope Hawkins enjoys his second full year in Winston-Salem better than the first. He just doubled, there's going to be a parade for him on Friday

    2-0, 3K for Danish
  4. If he can keep his pitch count down, Sale can get 15K tonight.

Looks like Chris Beck got injured today, as he only went .2 innings.
  6. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 11:19 PM) That's why you have to ask for more. It's the tigers. No way you lose that trade. Caste llanos is worth far less than y'all realize. Ilitch wants to win this year not develop a prospect. #37 prospect in all of baseball coming into the year having a very good year in AAA as a 21 year old is pretty damn valuable. He would easily be the #1 prospect in our organization.
  7. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 12:16 AM) Who cares what they do? Every team in this division is trying to get better. If another rival team wants to trade a more talented player to us for a reliever, you let them do it. It doesn't matter how good any of these other teams are until we're good enough to contend for a title. We're not even close to that point. And if we're freaking out about what other rival teams might look like 2-3 years from now, let's talk about the Twins now that Terry Ryan back. They won't suck forever. The Tigers may not even be our biggest threat the next time we're ready to win big. I couldn't agree more, but maybe the Tigers are thinking they wouldn't want to have Castellanos haunt them in their own division for years to come.

Micah Johnson tripled in first AB, Anderson K, Barnum single
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 09:34 PM) Huh? Nick Castellanos is going to hit in the big leagues and play 3rd base. Addison Reed is a relief pitcher. Are you kidding? If the Tigers offered us Castellanos for anyone on our roster other than Sale, I'd personally drive that player to Detroit. Yep, if they're offering up Castellanos for Reed, you do that in a heartbeat.

No Sox players in the top 50

Hearing anyone that's been involved with the Sox organization the last 10 years talk about developing young hitters as if they have any clue is very frustrating.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 05:14 PM) I remember seeing the horde of people on Waveland during the game too, it was just pure mayhem on the street after that homer. Miguel Cabrera was incredible defensively in RF in game 7. I still think Josh Beckett should get his jersey retired at the Cell
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 05:07 PM) I wasn't there, obviously. But when Kerry Wood hit that 2-run HR to tie the game in like the third inning or whatever, it was the loudest I've ever heard a sports stadium/park EVER. I live in the suburbs and I felt like I could hear the mayhem. I remember feeling like the room I was in became 200 degrees after that homer. Only other time a sporting event caused that type of reaction for me was when Jenks blew the first game vs Indians in that big series in 2005 (the day before the Crede walkoff).
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) If the Cubs ever win the World Series, the city will burn. I've watched game 7 between Marlins/Cubs from 2003 on youtube a few times since it was posted by MLB, and there are two conclusions I've come to: 1- Miguel Cabrera has gained a lot of weight 2- I still get anxious seeing how ridiculous the Wrigley area was during that game/series

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 02:58 PM) It still bothers me that Thompson has never been considered a top 100 prospect. While his numbers have never been eye-popping, as you said he's a level or two above players his age and has shown steady improvement each year. Plus he is a legitimate CF, which is a huge positive. I'm way more confident of him becoming a 2015 regular than any other position player in our system, including Phegley & Sanchez. Speaking of rankings, did any Sox players make the baseball prospectus top 50 today?
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) The statement I was replying to was talking about the size of the parades. Yeah, my post wasn't directly tied to what you said, sorry. More just a blanket statement that anyone saying one team had more fans at a parade or celebrating afterwards = bigger fan base is inaccurate. As someone that doesn't really care about hockey, the one thing that last night confirmed to me is that if the Cubs ever win the World Series, I have to leave this state.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 03:51 PM) That's just plain inaccurate. More than 2 million people showed up to the Blackhawks parade. The number of people that go celebrate after a championship and/or attend a parade is not a true reflection of how many fans a team has, in my opinion. There are people at my work planning on going to the parade who probably were watching an episode or Real Housewives last night instead of the game.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 04:10 AM) I'm ready to give up on Mitchell at this point, but it's going to take at least until 2015 before being willing to throw in the towel on Hawkins. Never said I was giving up on Hawkins. Far from it, but something has to be done soon to help him out.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 04:02 AM) He's up there with Johnson as a prospect as far as I'm concerned. Oh yeah, I'm sure I'm being reactionary but he has a far better chance than Hawkins of making the majors.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 03:03 AM) Hopefully just a blip. I'm sure it's easy to give up some at-bats coming off a long layoff against the best pitchers you've ever seen Yeah, not worried at all about it, just thought it was interesting given his great contact numbers from his collegiate season.

QUOTE (BPK @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 02:50 AM) Nah, watching on the milb.tv deal. The camera angle doesn't allow you to see anything mechanical in any detail, but his approach still leaps out at you. He lunges after everything that spins, and as soon as a pitcher gets him to chase one thing, he can throw it again another two times and the at bat's over. Basically, it's what we've all read about, but somehow even more painful to watch. Also, I haven't seen him run into one of the HRs, so I don't have that to mitigate my depression. Even on most of his homers, you can see how awful his mechanics are. If you go on milb.com and search Hawkins, it will come up with a handful of videos showing his homers.
