  1. 5 straight multi-K games for Flowers
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 12:49 AM) I'm going to make a bold prediction---he got through 3 just to get his work in, and they're going to bring him up and move to a 6-man for a while. or maybe they'll have him pitch next Monday against the Cubs and try to schedule Santiago/Q/Sale to face the Tigers?
  3. I like this Beckham kid right now.
  4. QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 01:47 AM) Holy crap that would COMPLETELY be the wrong move. Maybe a starter is getting moved? Man I dunno, reallllly hoping he isn't hurt. Who knows, maybe he's an added part of a package with someone like Rios for a blockbuster return?
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 12:36 AM) Erik Johnson pulled. Wonder who we traded. Please don't be hurt!
  6. Interesting that Erik Johnson is pulled after 3 innings. Hopefully he's not injured, but the way things are going of late, you have to hold your breath. If he's not hurt, maybe he's on his way up and/or getting traded.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 01:17 AM) He still may be the next head coach of the Hoosiers. The Celtics are probably going to be bad for a while. I think the odds are good Stevens winds up back in college at some point. Yep, who knows, it might be easier for Stevens to decide to go from the Celtics to IU than if he had to go from Butler to IU?
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 12:05 AM) Flolwers. Phegley with his 15th homer of the year. You have to wonder if they go ahead and make the change after this month and give Phegley a shot to show what he can do.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) Crain is arguably the best reliever on the market. Take a look at the type of returns top relievers have gotten at the trade deadline (and be prepared to be surprised...teams pay a lot for these kind of guys). They command some pretty good talent. Also, a team could easily offer him arbitration and he should qualify for some sort of compensatory pick (and what you'd have to offer for arbitration wouldn't be all that bad). I thought the Sox would have to offer him a ton in arbitration in order to get comp pick?
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) I'm still optimistic Peavy and Crain can come off the DL after the break, and still be traded for some value. Maybe not top talent, but something useful. Me too. If anything, there's way more of a reason to trade Crain for anything you can get as opposed to getting rid of Peavy.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 08:24 PM) It is bad luck but anyone who really thinks 2 months of Jesse Crain is going to get you a huge piece of your future is in la la land. If these players were as valuable as some believe, there is no way the Sox would be in last place. I disagree, the top reliever on the market would get some solid pieces in return. Considering we won't offer Crain arbitration, we now risk losing him and getting nothing in return.
  12. wow, just wow! It's been awful news after awful news this year.

A rare 0-7 night, this time for Trayce. He has drastic home/road splits this year.
  14. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) Stephenson and Cingrani are legitimate pieces. I don't think Hamilton is in play. Winker could be a pretty good bat. I'm all for taking the best possible offer there is. A surplus of pitching isn't a bad thing, especially when the only real established starting pitching prospect in the minors is one guy; Erik Johnson. Take the best value you can get, especially when limitations exist in trading partners. Edit: And these aren't rumors regarding specific names. Just some of the Reds top prospects. I know he's been horrible this year, but Corcino seems like the type of guy the Sox would be interested in.
  15. http://www.csnchicago.com/article/shoulder...sidelines-crain He hopes it's day-to-day, but who knows. It's just one of those jinxed seasons.
  16. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 04:48 AM) Right and they are no closer to having a sustainable rotation. Pitching is hard to come by which is why Hahn's job is easier than Theo and Theo has made no inroads in this area. Sale solves a major rebuilding issue. Unless they trade a package of Baez, Vogelbach, etc. for Price
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 03:45 AM) I think they have done way more good than bad though. That contract was market value for Jackson. Dempster screwed up the deal not the Cubs. I think it was you that mentioned this in the other thread, but thankfully the new spending rules are in place for the draft/Intl' signings. If not, the Cubs would have definitely been a top spender.
  18. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 03:43 AM) Except they have no arms on the horizon. Arrieta will be 29 before that team has any chance. Really not rocket science, they need a rotation and are not finding one. They tried with Baker and will do so this offseason. Seems like they'll go with Samardzija, Wood, Jackson and two pitchers outside the organization next season
  19. mlbtraderumors stating that Cubs will sign Jimenez. Kinda shocking to see the top 3 guys on MLB.com list signed by the Chicago teams.

9th error on the season for Anderson
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 02:59 AM) Boooooooom. Buck caught sleeping there? Why would you pitch to him with base open with PK on deck?
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 02:57 AM) Nice base running by Alexei I guess Alexei seems quicker this year on the bases.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 01:55 AM) Zzzzzzzzzzz@no-hitter #98 since 2009. Impressive though to have two in a row with regards to no hitters around the league.
  24. 97mph in the 9th, impressive

Offense across the board in the Sox minors has been quiet the last few days
