  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 04:43 AM) I think we'll get bodies. We're going to find out if they are any good. I just don't see teams giving up much for a rental in Crain. Isn't he a free agent after this year? And Matt Thornton? Cmon. That ship has sailed. That leaves guys like Peavy, Dunn and Rios. I happen to think we'll not be able to move Rios or Dunn and with Peavy's injury history? What general manager can give up studs for Jake Peavy at this point? I'd say our best bet to get a decent player is for Peavy, but a GM has to be careful with his history. There's no doubt the injuries to Peavy and Crain were devastating, but we just have to hope they return soon after the ASB.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:39 AM) LOL. Worst team in baseball except maybe for the Marlins. And I know nothing about their young players. Would u take the Marlins roster over the White Sox roster right now? I woudn't take the big league team, but good luck in finding anyone that thinks the Sox organization is in better shape than the Marlins (owners/payroll being equal). The Astros and Marlins suck, but at least they have very good farm systems. The Sox have one of the worst in the game, as you know. The two organizations that are in huge trouble going forward are the Sox and Brewers, in my opinion. Bad big league clubs with mediocre farm systems in divisions that are trending upwards.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:37 AM) Robin might be around a long, long time. The Sox wanted a quiet, professional stoic figure and got one. Seriously, we get that you want Ozzie back. If you think Ozzie could have won with this team, then he's a far better manager than even you ever gave him credit for.
  4. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:37 AM) Think we're going to get a good return on him? If he can show he's healthy, there's no reason not to expect a solid piece in return.
  5. Carlos Gomez with the play of the year to end the Reds/Brewers game
  6. it's scary to think how bad this team would be if Crain wasn't pitching out of his mind this season.
  7. Sox are making a very strong run at the end of the first half of the season at the worst record. Only 3.5 up on the Astros for worst record. Bring on the Tigers!
  8. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 04:31 AM) It's probably a lot easier to remember Thornton blowing close games than other guys because he is put into more close games than anyone. or because they have a tendency to lose a lot of the games he gives up runs in
  9. Well, gonna get swept in a 4 game series by the Cubs. Something for Ventura to put on his resume when he's looking for a job after this season.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 04:29 AM) High leverage is his most favorable split this season There's been high leverage Sox games this year
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 04:27 AM) Thornton gets far more hate than he deserves. He's a nice relief pitcher. He used to be elite. Sometimes he'll give up runs just like everybody else. 13 losses and counting over the last two years. He gets paid a lot of money to be as unreliable he is in close games. He's basically a highly paid LOOGY now.
  12. I can't wait until Thornton is wearing a different team's jersey.
  13. What a s***ty team.
  14. Quite the DH batting 5th
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:52 AM) THE CUBS 2nd time in 4 games
  16. Nice base running!!!
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:50 AM) Lol dunn 2-1 pitch with man on 3rd and he lets the fastball go
  18. What a horrible at bat by Dunn.
  19. ADA showing no idea of what a strike is/isn't
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:35 AM) Just pointing out how easy it is to sweep the Sox and how even when we were good, we rarely swept anybody. Sox are getting swept a lot because they suck. There were plenty of times where the Sox swept awful teams.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:34 AM) There's a lot of teams that have the Sox number this year. Remember when our main complaint during the Ozzie days was we could never sweep anybody? We'd win the first two of a series and lose on Sunday and be all pissed. Oh dear
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:32 AM) And Casper becomes a pitcher. Casper has done nothing here to earn a roster invite next year, which is sad as I was a fan of his acquisition.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:32 AM) Why go outside the org. for a backup OF'er in a rebuilding/transition year? Because all the options in the organization suck right now and you typically see people brought in for cheap in the offseason (ie: Tekotte)
  24. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:31 AM) With the junk Hector was throwing it was only a matter of time before that happened Yep
  25. Soriano is swinging the bat far too well to let him beat you.
