  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:28 AM) He's just one part of a 3 man race for fourth outfielder of the future. I'm okay with that I'll make the prediction that the 4th outfielder next year isn't in the organization right now. I also will make a prediction that the Sox will give Mitchell some ABs at the MLB level at the end of this year.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:26 AM) Tekotte struggled against righties in AAA He's just a bad player who had a 2 week hot stretch in AAA and the Sox brought him up.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:23 AM) Garza is scared of Phegley. We've seen some brutal 3-0 swings by our hitters this year.
  4. Stoney with the steroid jab at Ivan Rodriguez. Phegley with a bad 3-0 swing there.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:17 AM) From the sounds of it the big thing he has to learn is going to be learned through ABs. He needs to learn pitch recognition. It doesn't sound like a mechanical problem at all. From the HR videos on milb.com, he has to improve his balance at the plate. Even if he recognizes an offspeed pitch, it seems he's far too out in front of it.
  6. QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:09 AM) I agree. I think he'll be one of those borderline 100-115 if he continues to play well. Gasp. We might have close to 3 top-100s It also matters if Erik Johnson gets a lot of innings at the big league level.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:01 AM) I took it coming back from sickness. Yep, in response to your Bonds comment
  8. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:00 AM) fathom are you implying Phegley is juicing with the Armstrong comment? No no, not at all. More that he's a superstar who's had to overcome a huge illness.
  9. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:41 AM) I know fast starts don't last,but I have to question the talent evaluation of the Sox scouts and Hahn. Phegley sat at AAA while Flowers wilted under the pressure. It seems Hahn and the coaching staff were bound and determined to play Flowers until it became obvious to even them that he didn't have what it takes. They wanted to give Flowers a chance. It was a high risk, high reward type situation, especially when they didn't bring in a veteran back-up.
  10. Phegley's swing looks a little bit like Quentin's did.
  11. If you asked me who I thought had the best chance to become a multi-year starter for the Sox in the future, I think I would take Micah Johnson over Hawkins or Thompson.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 01:36 AM) WOOOOOOO I'm just happy they didn't get no hit
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:35 AM) Next Barry Bonds. More like next Lance Armstrong
  14. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 01:33 AM) There isn't a player on either team with an .800 OPS. Navarro? Nate S. has an OPS over .800 as well
  15. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:30 AM) Speaking of the Pirates they have a scout here and its not for pitching Rios makes a ton of sense there, as does Alexei. That team's going to need a little more offense during the 2nd half of the season.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 01:23 AM) I love seeing Starlin up in a big situation. You know he's going to fail. He's my favorite Cub lately Yeah, he's been really bad for over a month now. I have no idea why they aren't trying to spin him for a starting pitcher.
  17. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 01:21 AM) Only a matter of time before Hector gets blown up here. Looks awful. How about we don't have him throw 123 pitches in a game?
  18. What a stupid pitch call there...3-2 offspeed pitch to a weak-hitting lefty? It's amazing how stupid this team is. You also have to like Hawk saying everyone but Beckham on the offense has had a disappointing season.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 01:09 AM) W-S with 12 runs, 14 hits...and Hawkins has the hat trick 0-4, 4k
  20. I missed the top of the 2nd, what was the issue with Santiago/Phegley?
  21. Please don't get no hit
  22. W-S with 12 runs, 14 hits...and Hawkins has the hat trick
  23. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 01:06 AM) Personally I dont care if they hang on to Rios. Teams dont give you what you want then screw them. I agree, I don't mind if Rios sticks around. However, when you start hearing scouts echo what many of us have said on here about the lack of hustle by players on this team, it gets frustrating.
  24. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:02 AM) This team isnt even trying I have no idea how Ventura survives this season. When one of your top trade chips is called out by a scout/executive for not hustling, that falls back on the manager.
