  1. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 02:09 AM) Yep. A top 5 pick would be great. There's not a chance they finish worse than Houston or Miami though. I still think when all is said and done a pick in the 7 to 10 range is where the Sox end up. You have a lot more confidence in the ability of the Sox to win games against the Tigers than I do with a "blown up" roster.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 02:05 AM) After the break, they should have a "mutual parting of the ways" with Ventura. Then name Mark Parent the interim just to get a feel for him the rest of the season, and go from there. Now will this happen? Of course not. Screw it, let Konerko retire at the ASB and give him a trial run the rest of the way
  3. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 02:04 AM) The odds of Tyler Flowers getting a hit there, as most of us on this board know, were almost 1 out of a 100. And I don't feel like I am exaggerating. Anyone know how to find stats regarding what he's hitting in the 9th inning and later this season?
  4. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 03:03 AM) yup, get that #1 pick please Astros and Cubs are playing better baseball than the Sox. Mets are going to be calling up Wheeler soon, but their offense is abysmal. When it's all said and done, I fully expect Marlins to get 1st pick and Astros 2nd. One "advantage" the Sox have to racking up the losses is the tough schedule they have the rest of the way.
  5. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 02:01 AM) Boxscore says 3rd He got picked off going back to 2nd.
  6. Jordan Danks owes the Blackhawks a fruit basket
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 01:59 AM) 3rd not 2nd 2nd
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 01:57 AM) Quite honestly, what changes are there to be made? Maybe it's just be, but I fully expect this team to remain mostly the same until pieces are inevitably dealt. Send Flowers and Jordan Danks down. Move Alexei from the 2nd spot (where even Ventura has questioned if it's had a big impact on Alexei's power). The only time there's been a change in the last month or so was when De Aza had a tummy ache.
  9. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 02:55 AM) I was thinking the same thing. OMG what a fitting ending to this game. How is Ventura still employed? This is the worst managed Sox team I've seen in the 20 years or so I've been watching baseball closely.
  10. For those that aren't watching, Danks just got picked off at 2nd to end the game. If this game doesn't get changes to be made, nothing will. Jordan Danks is a truly awful baseball player.
  11. Wow Flowers is freaking terrible. For the second straight night, he strikes out vs the closer and isn't even close. Hopefully he's long gone after this season.
  12. It's truly incredible how many awful things this team does at the plate. Not only that, but it's freaking hilarious that Ventura keeps letting Flowers face the righty closer.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 12:53 AM) Can't stay mad at the Big Donkey Ha, leadoff double stranded...shocker
  14. Rios with one of the worst at bats of the year. Not only was the result bad, but he made no effort to advance Alexei.
  15. Nice start to the 8th with a long Alexei double
  16. I can't tell from this article if Manto believes Viciedo is a 25 hr, 75 rbi type player at his best. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,3982154.story
  17. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 12:58 AM) Shades of the 2009 walk off winner against the Cubs at the Cell Great call
  18. Beckham at his finest with that double to right center.
  19. Dunn made that look so easy!
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 01:31 AM) More bad defense If getting swept in a 4 game series by the Astros is what causes mass changes, then GO ASTROS! This current Sox team just lacks "it" this season.
  21. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 01:23 AM) There's a good chance we will be 9 1/2 behind Detroit tonight. Also totally tired of seeing hittable pitches go by for strikes and then see Sox hitters swing at garbage. They are thinking too much at the plate.See ball, hit ball.Don't expect the pitcher to throw you the pitch you expect. He's not stupid. The team has played tight the entire season, almost as if they're collapsing down the stretch like last season.
  22. Flowers would fit in perfectly with this Astros team, but sadly their catcher is significantly better than him.
  23. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 01:13 AM) More on Viciendo: career ABs 866, SO 208 24%. He is not the Sox future.Way too many ABs given away. Yep, good power but terrible hitting skills
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 01:24 AM) You have to stay positive about things but I think at some point you just have to accept we have some major problems There's been almost nothing this year that should make anyone think this team has any freaking chance to get back into contention.
  25. Offense looks like total garbage tonight. Harrell has them taking strikes and swinging at pitches out of the zone.
