  1. Santiago dominated with his fastball today, just far too much damage done on his secondary pitches.

    QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 08:46 PM) 0 for 5, 4 Ks. Make it stop!
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) We can fill two of their holes in one move. Kablam If you give up Peavy and Rios, it's unlikely one team would be willing to give up enough in return to make it worth it for the Sox.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 08:45 PM) Funny you say that, I have just the guy you're looking for... Matt Garza
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 08:43 PM) Look at his #'s in AA last year. Some believe he could be a corner OF'er if need be, as well. He has been hurt for part of this year and is just getting started, so don't read too much into his early season stats for this year. With all their injuries to the pitching staff, it's more likely they use him to acquire a starting pitcher.

    0-4, 3K for Hawkins...down to .200 batting average
  7. Manny Machado Double Machine and Anthony Rendon are quite fun to watch right now

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 07:12 PM) Would be weird timing as Flowers has batted about .370 over the past 10 games I wonder if Gimenez is injured? Typically, you see the Sox play the back-up catcher the day game after a night game.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) Learning from the master, Paul Konerko He threw his bat on that grounder farther than the ball went in the air. He had nice form on it.
  10. Rios continues to not hustle out of the box.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 08:00 PM) Seems to me that all sides involved knew that was a trash for trash trade Supposedly other teams were upset they didn't know Santos was available, as they would have tried to acquire him. When you look at what Andrew Bailey and Melancon were traded for in that same offseason, it's ridiculous the Sox only got Molina.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 08:00 PM) If we do start trading guys, though, I want guys excelling in the high minors and/or major league baseball players. We don't do Cubs-style rebuilds around here. We need to get pieces that will help within the next year or two, at most. Think of a guy like John Danks who was not going to get a shot on his club for whatever reason but was a guy we felt we could have on our big league club. You mean the team that after today is likely to have a better record than the Sox?
  13. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 08:00 PM) Doubt that happens. The only pieces I think that would bring back a solid prospect would be: -Sale.....& he is one I wouldnt trade unless the return was ridiculous. -Crain...A team in contention is really gonna over trade for him due to bullpen troubles & his ridiculous stats. - & a young arm like Jones out off the pen. Why wouldn't Rios bring a good package in return?
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) Off the top of my head, who has he requested other than Nestor Molina? Zach Stewart? viva la Teahen! That Molina recommendation alone is enough to question him. He should thank his stars for Santos' elbow.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) If we trade Alex Rios, I demand someone that Marco Paddy doesn't recommend
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 06:53 PM) I feel the complete opposite. I don't think we'll get one from outside of the org. unless it is a Brian McCann kind of guy, who is obviously a major piece. I don't see us picking him up...so I figure we'll either have Tyler looking like a legit catcher or go in planning to have Tyler backing up Phegley If this season continues the way it has, there's no chance IMO that Flowers is given the opportunity to be a full-time starter again.
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) If you're trying to build, you're going to have to be willing to take some lumps with Tyler. This gives Phegley plenty of time to marinate down in AAA instead of being pushed up at the first time of a good run. Let Josh put well over half a season together before we start worrying about putting him on the MLB club. If Flowers still sucks, you haven't lost anything. If Flowers looks like an everyday big leaguer by then, you have the happy problem of too many bats. Personally, I don't think the starting catcher for the Sox in 2014 is in the organization right now.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 07:49 PM) Cooper is a moron if he is the one that called for him to start throwing more curveballs to righties. More like Cooper is a moron if he doesn't work night and day with Santiago on a 2nd and 3rd pitch every chance he gets.
  19. Keppinger's range at 3b is pathetic. This team is so f***ing bad, just have to hope this weekend's debacle causes some type of shake-up.
  20. 3-0 Astros, as Flowers keeps calling for Santiago's awful offspeed pitches.
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 06:46 PM) At least Flowers' bat has started to show some life and his throwing has really become excellent as of late. He has a little time to get his head on straight when it comes to blocking balls. Dan Hayes said before the game that the Sox are "married" to the idea of Flowers being their catcher this year, so they'll give him this entire year most likely.
  22. Goodness Flowers, stop calling for non-fastballs when that's far and away Santiago's best pitch.
  23. I love how naive Hawk is about Carlos Pena
  24. fathom replied to flavum's topic in FutureSox Board
    0-2, 2K already for Hawkins
  25. There's no doubt in my mind that Ventura can be a successful MLB manager, but it seems something has gone seriously wrong with this team. Having Dunn and Konerko being the clubhouse leaders is a scary thought, especially with Dunn being the active leader for most games played without making the postseason. The current composition of this roster (as well as what they had coming into the season) just isn't very good. Far too many players that should be in strict platoon roles that are being forced to play every day. If Ventura truly wants to be the Sox manager, the make him commit to a 3 year deal and then go ahead and make the necessary changes around him.
